Tristan slowly pursed his lips and blinked his eyes, as he took in a few shuddering breaths. In his mind he could not help but curse the muggle invention of cars. He questioned how two of his closest relations could both perish from the same fate of being smashed by a wayward automobile. If it wasn’t his life, he would laugh at the absurdity and drama of it all. His muggle best friend, gone, with one mistake at the hand of another. Tristan breathed in quickly, clenching his fist. His muggle tutor, gone, just last year, now hit by a drunk driver according to Scotland Yard’s reports. He had to calm himself or else his cups might explode. He stood up from the desk and decided firmly to go visit the Professor of Muggle Studies, thinking perhaps that their knowledge of the muggle world would remind him of his tutor, and he would be able to pretend he still lived. Tristan stood in ramrod position and coldly began to walk to the office. He considered the name of the professor, Professor Galim and guessed that the origin was from Israel. If it was wrong, then he could try any of the other languages he knew. At that thought, he decided that he would practice his Hebrew skills in conversation as he would do with his tutor. He pressed onwards towards Professor Galim’s office, slowly making it through the castle. When he came upon her door, he paused, suddenly afflicted with a great sense of trepidation, unable to take the four steps needed to be visible at the door. He questioned his ability to keep his emotions in check and act as the Noble Family heir he was at the sight of muggle objects. Shaking his head, he stepped forward and tapped four times in quick succession on the door. He then said, “Hello, may I come in? I wanted to speak with you about something?” in Hebrew, and waited patiently at the door.

It was a chilly autumn weather, slowly entering into the next season as the following month of December approached. Maya was sitting on the couch in the corner of her classroom, reading a book in Hebrew about different experiential learning in muggle education. It seems that her homeland had discovered new ways of bringing about education to the classroom. Maya wanted to see if there could be a way to incorporate this into hers, although not strictly muggle.
As she was reading, there was a knock on the door, four times in a row to be exact. Maya hardly had visitors during her office hours as who would want to know more about muggle studies? She closed her book, and walked over to the door, opening to see a third year student. There were so many students that roamed through her class that she nearly forgot his name. As she was trying to figure out who they were, the child spoke to her in Hebrew. The grammar wasn't perfect but the fact that he had spoken made her eyebrows rise.
It was only natural to speak the language back. "Come in and have a seat on the couch. Share with me on how you know Hebrew?" she asked in Hebrew, as she closed the door and made her way to the couch. Maya would sit on the opposite side of where they would sit, giving enough space.
"What troubles you?" she continued in Hebrew, looking at the boy. Was it a homework assignment? Something about their recent lesson? She was intrigued as to why someone would actually use her office hours at the moment.

Tristan was glad to be allowed to speak to the professor. It was rare, of course, to find someone in the Wizarding world as supportive or at least knowledgeable about the Muggle and non-magical world. He answered the question gently with a smile, “I really like learning languages and I had a tutor who cultivated my love for understanding other cultures and allowed me to learn as much as I wanted.”
Tristan made sure to sound as empathetic and normal as he could be instead of the normal cold demeanour he placed on as a mask, as most new acquaintances knew him as. Although by now, the difference between mask and reality was blurred quite easily. It was true he enjoyed the pursuit of knowledge but there were other motives he had as well to learn languages, the desire to surprise others and to provide a chance to learn things about people that they otherwise might not reveal. After all, speaking in their home tongue was, of course, a manner in which to increase trust through confort. However, Tristan truly did enjoy the time it gave with his tutor, who also knew many languages.
He continued to speak in Hebrew, “This might be surprising but my tutor was a muggle, and I was wondering if I could speak to you about the muggle world. I apologize if this is a nuisance but you are one of the few people I hope might be interested in the non-magical world, and its marvellous development.”

It was a rare talent, but there were some people in the world who were naturally linguistic. Maya's own mentor was one of them, Professor Schine. He was by far one of the most prolific speakers, no matter what language he spoke. He had tried to teach her languages in the past, but her skill wasn't linguistic at all. English and Hebrew were her only languages that she mastered and was content. Her mind zipped out of the past and back to the boy who shared his reasoning for entering her classroom. It was often that students want to learn more than their one hour lesson.
"Mr. Theramin, it is my job to continue to enlighten students about the Muggle world. Is there a specific lesson you wanted to review or something else that you've been thinking about regarding the Muggle world?" she asked, wondering what was going through the fourth year's mind. It seemed that Hebrew was solely the language being spoken in the room.
How much she had missed speaking her native tongue. It had been a long time since she had been home with her family in Israel. She often spoke the common tongue that she didn't realize how easy and beautiful her native language was to her.

11/31/2022First EncounterTristan considered the teacher in front of him. A beautiful woman and intelligent. It seemed her thoughts wandered off somewhere at the mention of learning languages. Tristan wondered at such a point if she knew any other languages but asked instead, “If I may ask this of you, what was it that led you to become a professor in Muggle Studies? I often find that the Wizarding World is reluctant in learning of their Muggle Counterpart” Perhaps he had found another language proficient person but then it was also more likely that the Professor only knew two languages and he would never find someone as intelligent as him or Leonard. Where in the world was Leonard anyway? He had not seen him in so long. After all these years of death and turmoil, Leonard had disappeared into the background. However, it was perhaps now Leonard that would disappear until adulthood. Well, that was alright, they were still the only two unique people in the world and they would be connected no matter how long they stayed apart. When Professor Galim asked him what he would like to learn, he pondered for a quick moment and then stated, “I would be interested in learning more about Muggle Music if that is possible. I am quite interested in the creative arts, however I was wondering if any practical application can be possible despite me being in Hogwarts and the lack of electricity.” He of course played jazz guitar already but he was hoping to peak her interest intellectually and continue surprising her. He quickly smiled sheepishly in order to disguise his half-deception.
