If he'd been with someone...

Maybe he would have cared enough to get himself looked after. But Kim was alone. No one was with him.

No one cared. Ever since Sophia had disappeared... nothing had ever been the same. It was as if everyone he'd been close to had also gone away. As if everyone had been tied to her and without her... Kim's heart clenched and he felt moisture come to his eyes. He quickly blinked and regained control over himself and his emotions. At least he still had Puffie, he needed to be fine for Puffie's sake. He also needed to give Koda and Koishi a home at his dorm. Even though they weren't alive, that didn't mean they weren't important to him...

Time continued to pass and as Kim searched around the area, a toadstool suddenly jumped from the bushes at him and flew past his head, scaring him for a split second. Once his heart had calmed down, Kim debated about whether to give up on this search and head over to the refreshments area. Or if he wanted to go play some tricks on others with the items he currently had within his enchanted satchel. The teen wasn't finding much when he investigated the shadows, bushes and shrubberies. At least nothing but carnivorous plantlife.

If he found nothing this time, maybe he'd head over to the refreshments.

Once refreshed, he'd decide on a target and go prank them. And then... well he wasn't sure what else to do.

It wasn't as if he'd come with a date. Speaking of which, where on earth was Sia? He was late. The two had made plans to meet up at the main banquet area but quite some time had passed and he still wasn't there. Eventually, Kim made his way back towards the refreshments table. Even if there weren't a lot of people there at the moment, the comestibles wouldn't go to waste. Someone would end up eating them in the end. It didn't matter if it was a student or a staff member. Kim just didn't want all the lovely potions to go to waste.

Since the food and drinks would be eaten or drunk by someone at some point in time, at least they would get a fun surprise. Kim took out the Pompion Potion and poured it into the most popular liquid people had drank at the ball. Then, he took out the Laugh-inducing Potion and did the same thing with it but instead of a liquid he poured this one into a stew. Finished, he glanced around the area. It was getting empty, unlike earlier... Part of him felt sad but he also felt relieved. Maybe he'd stay a bit longer since it was ending soon....

If everyone was trying to leave, that meant it would become empty soon.

That in turn meant Kim could linger outside alone and enjoy the fresh air and plantlife around him.

It sounded great to him. Maybe he'd even draw some. Okay, that settled it, he would do that. It was nice not having come with someone. He didn't have to put up pretenses or be polite or worry about offending someone. All he had was himself and even though he was still bleeding through the makeshift bandage, he didn't care. It wasn't a bad injury, at least not to him. If he passed out, someone would eventually find him. Kim meandered towards the game area. He'd check it out for now to see what was there to spark his interest.

He looked around.

There were lots of people all over the place, flitting here and there. But no one he recognized as of yet.

Tone made a face. The tasty snacks and treats that he'd picked up for him and Monica had been some garden herb flatbreads, honey glazed vegetables, herb roasted ribs, and glazed honey cakes. Yes, most of them were sweet foods. But the root of the problem was that most of the stuff that wasn't sweet tended to be too messy to carry around inside his enchanted backpack. If Monica wanted savory stuff, they'd have to go back to the table themselves to get those. Speaking of which, where was Nica? The teen was having trouble finding her...

Freya was also nowhere to be found and Tone wondered if she'd tried to escape the place. Hopefully not. But even if she had, he'd still track her down eventually. There was no getting away from him. What she didn't realize was that he was incredibly stubborn and never took no for an answer! Tone looked around the area he was currently in and chewed on his bottom lip, wondering what he should do. Nica had mentioned being thirsty before. So he'd come to the refreshments, but she hadn't been there. Therefore, where had she gone?

Should he continue to wait for her there?

If she approached the refreshments table, she would 100% see him, as he was standing in front of the area.

But what if she was somewhere else? Tone hadn't really explored the whole area of the Spring Court. So it was highly possible Nica had ventured further into the spring court without him. But then again, why would she go ahead and do that, when she seemed to have wanted to spend time with him? A sigh escaped his lips. He was thinking too much about this and he usually didn't. Thinking always stressed him out, unless it had to do with quidditch. Tone shook his head and thought for a few minutes. He'd wait for a bit longer for Nica.

And if she didn't show up within another 15 minutes, he'd go looking for her instead.

Bea scoffed at Monica. She wasn't going to abandon her best friend to the whims of the flora. It surely had a mind of its own now, and it didn't look like it was going to throw a party for Monica. The red head grabbed Monicas arm, yanking her up hard from the vines and along with her. In this case it was towards the thick bushy column of green hedges. Now a wall in front of her. "A'm not leaving you here Mon." What a hero complex Monica had. But she was being utterly stupid. "Don't be daft!"

She felt more than heard Hunter sidle up towards the pair and Beatrice scowled. For one who claimed to be smart, he apparently couldn't see the problem around them. She turned angrily towards him, the panic inside of her making her lash out. "Haven't ye seen the problem Argentum?! We're trapped!" She let go of Monica, using both of her hands to push the boy away angrily. "Did you have something to do with this? I can't believe this happened..." Panic clawed at her insides, making her want to desperately cry. This was all too much. This ball had been a mistake. Coming with Hunter had been a mistake. Doing something light-hearted like this after Nan died was a mistake. All she wanted to do was curl up in her bed and cry. She let out a heaving sob at the entire situation. Never mind that Monica and Hunter were there to watch her internal collapse. She didn't care.

She breathed in a shaky breathe a few minutes later as the tears settled, her emotions still clouded. "It wasn't supposed to be like this," she whispered. Staring resolutely at the hedges, she grabbed her wand. "We'll have to burn the thing. Incendio the hedge and make our way out. It's the only way." She turned to look at them both. "You in?" If they were or weren't it didn't matter. Bea was ready to unleash hell She'd get her friend and Hunter out of here. A flick of her wrist in the correct movement, she gave a solid, "Incendio duo!" towards the greenery. Much like Gina Linetti and her flamethrower.

It should have been no surprise to Monica that Bea would decline her opening for an escape. Monica smirked at the Ravenclaw as she commented that she would never abandon her Slytherin Friend. Monica's mind slipped to what she should do? She was still trapped in the grip of the vines, and at this point, everything seemed hopeless. Was there not a professor around? Or some other student to possibly see the trio in their current predicament? Monica would assume if anyone was near by, the sight of her tangled in vines, Bea trying to free her, and the fact that the hedges blocked off all exits, would be a little noticeable to the general student body.... yet for whatever reason, it seemed they were on their own.

Monica's gaze lept around the grounds, trying to see if anything would give her a clue, or sign, or for someone to cry out to.... the only thing that slipped her lips was a daft, "Help US!" She wanted to keep Bea safe, but since the Ravenclaw refused to leave, then Monica couldn't deny they needed help.... would anyone hear her? Were they possibly trapped in some spell, is that why no one saw them? Had Monica walked that far off, that no one could see them? They were just at the refreshment tent moments ago.... they couldn't have been that far by now that anyone standing around there couldn't see them.... were they?

As Bea took out her wand, and shared her plan of escape, Monica had to agree, this seemed like their only option. She to pulled out her wand, ready to follow Bea's lead in trying to burn these bushes down! "Okay," She said, "I'm with you. On your call."

Then when the word was given, Monica poised her wand and shouted out, "Incendio!"

At long last he found someone.

One of the two girls he'd been looking for had finally been found by him! It was the girl he'd come with.

Or rather the girl he'd made plans to meet up with at the spring court ball and also the one who'd gone off to reunite with her other friends while he'd been doing the tournament event. Tone would have actually missed seeing her if it hadn't been for Beatrice. The girl had yanked Monica free of the vines and made them stumble out of the bushes and greenery that had tried to swallow them whole. As a result, they were now visible to any looking in that particular direction from the refreshments table. Where Tone happened to be....

But why was Monica on the ground? Why did her friend look like she had just pulled her up but in a rather violent manner? Tone quickly surveyed the situation and abruptly realized that a series of vines and plantlife seemed intent on trying to grasp at their feet, ankles and legs. What on earth was going on over there? "Nica!" Tone exclaimed as he rushed over to the girl, a bit of the butterbeer he carried in one hand sloshing out as he ran. "You alright?" He asked, looking her over for a few seconds. "What's going on here???"

It was around this time that he spotted something strange.

The hedges were too close. Where the exit once had been, it was no longer there for some odd reason.

Could the plantlife be working against them? Tone's brow furrowed and he let his dark eyes flicker over the hedge wall that was blocking people from exiting the maze. A dark skinned, rather attractive young man was seen a few seconds later. He was too close to Beatrice and Monica to not know them and they didn't seem too surprised at his presence. Which in turn meant he had probably come with them. Most likely not Monica, since Tone had been meeting up with her, which meant he was either Beatrice's date, or a friend of the girls.

Normally, Tone would have instantly pounced on him and tried to get to know him. But right now, he was more concerned over Monica and this hedge wall blocking the girls in. So, instead he just nodded to the stranger, at least to him he was, and focused on the girls. As Beatrice pointed her wand at the hedge wall and cast the higher version of the Fire Making Spell, Tone got his own wand out too. "Incendio!" He incanted, using the lower version of the Fire Making Spell. After all, he didn't want to set the entire maze here on fire.

The less powerful version would do just as well.

Once he'd cast the spell, Tone turned to regard Monica, Beatrice and the boy he didn't know (Hunter) again.

"Anyone want to tell me what's been going on here? It seems as if I've missed quite a lot while I was at the tourney!" The duo-toned teen said as he let his eyes flicker from Monica to Beatrice to the stranger and back to Monica again. Hopefully it could all be summed up within a few seconds. Maybe next time he'd not take part in the events, just so he didn't end up missing anything in the meantime. But events were so much fun and he'd even come out the grand prize winner this time! How could he not participate???

Even though he didn't think setting the entire maze on fire, they did have to force the hedges to open a little to get through. Other than fire, how else were they supposed to get inside? Tone thought the higher version of fire was a little overkill. After all, his weaker version was better because it would hopefully allow them entry and then he or someone else could put the fires out afterward. As long as it was done instantly as soon as they'd entered, everything should be fine, right? They just couldn't let the fire spread too much. If no one else tried to put the fires out after they entered, Tone would take on that responsibility for them all instead.

"You are very welcome, Sir Stephen." EmmaLee said quietly, suddenly a little shy as her friend thanked her and he reached out to take her token. She giggled, putting her hand over her mouth daintily, as her and Stephen's fingers fumbled and she became all of a sudden very aware of how much taller he was than her. Had he always been this tall?

She shook the thought from her head a little and a small pink blush rose to her porcelain face as he deftly tucked the flag into his boot. She thought back a bit to how well he had done in the tournament, not just with his lance and broom, but also with his sportsmanship. She hadn't been able to tell what he and Raizel had said to each other but it seemed that it had been very pleasant and cordial. He really was a very admirable person and she was glad he had chosen to become her friend.

"I seem to be 'anding you so many things tonight, you think I would be better at it." EmmaLee said, with another small giggle.

She was so glad that she and Stephen had worked things out and they had planned to go to the ball together. Admittedly, it did seem more fun to, at the very least, plan to meet someone there and spend most of the night with them, rather than just show up and see how it goes.
It also added some accountability to actually show up, she admitted to herself. She had made some vague plans with Stephen last time, but now that they we actually going together, it had made her more determined to show up despite the fear that it was all going to fall apart.
If she didn't keep going to events with Stephen (which, y'know, wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, right?), she would probably still try to make solid plans with someone. Maybe be a single Pringle in a can of other Pringles from now on.

EmmaLee chuckled a little to herself at the thought as she hooked her arm into Stephen's, and she laughed as he joked about his boots and lead her towards she dance floor. "They seem to be made for many things." She teased, raising an almost invisible eyebrow. "Walking through mazes and jousting as well, yes?"

The night felt especially magical for some reason as Stephen lead her into two spins. The lights around them looked like a sea of shooting stars as she whirled and her white hair flowed behind her like dancing ribbons. Stephen's height advantage on her made the spin underneath his arm easy and comfortable, almost natural. When he stopped to bow, asking her to dance, EmmaLee took her skirt in both hands and curtsied genially. "But of course, Sir Stephen. I could enjoy nothing more." She said, smiling sweetly and retrieving his hand to, finally, begin their first dance.

Hunter gave a small and quick applaud to Bea's comment to Monica. Indeed being daft or heroic was nonsensical, it would only cause more harm to all those involved if they were to lose another pawn in this graveyard mistaken to be the garden of Eden. Of course though, he couldn't help but give a cold look back at Bea as she made her comment of being trapped.

The boy's paranoia and fears were already on a high at this moment of the night, whether they were trapped or not wasn't going to surprise him. Hunter was already in a state of fear, he just didn't dare show it to anyone; especially Beatrice. His anxiety and worst thoughts of what were to occur had already played out. He had imagined one instance in which they'd be trapped... but trapped by plants was by any means not apart of it. Nonetheless, he had to keep his composure, to block out the annoying noises that were surrounding him. "If I had something to do-" the boy had shut his eyes, but as he faced to address Bea's ridiculous question, he opened them... and could already tell by Bea's expression that she was in a rather upsetting state.

Such a night had already gone so wrong, and Hunter was just about to be done with it as well. Having gone through an everlasting maze, to have his nightly tempo be mistreated, and be surrounded by so many unpredictable people that he just couldn't stand. He himself was on a verge of being set off like a bomb, to finally break the facade and go into an utter state of fear and cowardice, but the look on Beatrice slightly brought him back. To fear everything, especially people had its drawbacks. Either one was too afraid to do anything, to sit back, watch, and being slick. Or, they would be driven to act like a mad courageous person to break through such fears. Hunter was always controlled by his fears, and to be in such a high state of it was going to be the end of him this night.

Beatrice's expression said enough, Hunter's fears began to scream even further. He was not afraid of the garden's wrath, no. A different feeling overwhelmed him as he looked at Bea. A reminder of the tears he brought to her and she gave to him as well when they had brewed a potion above their year. The boy's fears were being overwritten with a new and odd feeling... disgust. The night was truly an unfair game, a rigged game of chess that had no way to win no matter which way the boy went. This feeling, it was a resentment towards the fact that he had to keep up with it for so long, that he'd have to deal with nonsense from everyone everyday for the rest of his life. That he'd never figure out the secrets to his fathers journals, that he'd never be able to accomplish anything as everyone would be in his way filling him with fear. The fear, he was done with it. Crushed and broken with a new feeling of hatred as Bea was about to blame the damn boy for such trickery.

Hunter, reached into his satchel taking out one of his "Fire-Breathing Potions" red and bright, illuminating the hatred he was feeling. The boy was about to let loose, to burn everything including the students. He looked once more... and hesitated. Her expression, her shaky breath and settled tears... was she feeling the same hate, mistaking it for sadness? Again, Hunter could only feel resentment towards her as she began to regain her stature. Such confidence, a control of emotion that Hunter could only feel jealously from. He wanted to take that away from the girl. He didn't enjoy her composure, the way she wanted to help him and Monica in this situation, again a feeling of disgust. He approached Bea more closely, a swift "Diffindo" escaped the boys voice with a proper wand movement to go along with it as he saw one of the vines twitch a bit. He wasn't exactly in the mood to follow orders from someone like Bea. He wanted to destroy that composure she was holding:

"Such a dread filled night. You told me the world took your Nan, and now it seems the world wants to drag us back into the soil with her." The boy approached Bea, potion in hand: "If you really want to watch the world burn, then you'll have to fuel the flames with hate and breathe in life with a scream."

The other boy's levity amused Ashley, and he said, "I would protect you," after which Ashley smiled. His jaw dipped a little as the other boy's words caused his cheeks to get scarlet. His tummy had an odd sensation of having a lot of butterflies floating around. The way he spoke was soothing and compassionate at the same time. Then Ashley looked in a different direction since he could feel his emotions leaning so strongly towards the other boy. However, the timing was suboptimal.

He was just 11 years old and had no idea what he was feeling; this was alien to him. Ashley was still a young man figuring out where he belonged in the world. He was nevertheless perplexed by how he was feeling, even if when he looked at the other lad, the romantic melody that accompanied the words he had just spoken to Lucian prior, flowed naturally and sans any deliberate effort. He wasn't sure if this was suitable at that point however. He might feel this way since he didn't have many pals when he was growing up, perhaps. Even when he went to bed at night, the youngster would be hesitant to think about these emotions, which needed to be addressed. This is too unfamiliar. He occasionally asked the universe what the hell was going on while gazing at the stars. When he turned to face Lucian Mornstern, he noticed perfection. anything he never observed in anybody else. Again, he was only an 11-year-old lad and was still bewildered by everything. The fact is, he had never had this feeling with another person made it more confusing.

However Ashley began to become a little anxious and his palms began to perspire, he could see that Lucian had the prettiest blush ever.. “I’m so happy to be here with you, Ash. Really, really reaaaally happy,”. The kid reddened as well, but he was unable to speak since he seemed to be "lovestruck." He overheard the other boy telling him how much he liked his eyes as he turned to face the lad and looked into his eyes. The boy chuckled a little and couldn't help but reply, "You are perfect in every way, Lucian."

Beatrice, who Ashley recognised from the broom race because they were on the same team, was then called by Lucian. The boy hoped to get to know Beatrice better in addition to all the weird things that had occurred throughout the match because she seemed like a really innocent yet intelligent young lady. However, it appears that Beatrice was aware of Lucian's call to her. Then She approached both of the boys while greeting them. Ashley found her voice to be endearing and delightful. Yet, after a few conversations that seemed to go on forever, he felt the desire to go back to the Maze. He asked Lucian and Beatrice to go with him so they could explore the maze together. He made only a brief attempt to leave the Royal Banquet area and return to the maze; it was up to Beatrice and Lucian whether they would follow him or remain there.

For most part, the evening proved to be rather boring. Eun-ji hoped to be distracted and perhaps hang out with Ye-jun but neither of those things happened. Funnily enough Ye-jun was nowhere to be seen despite the fact that she was the one, who was not planning to attend the ball in the first place. Whatever, she’d just hang around for a bit, explore and watch people dance. Which is precisely what the Ravenclaw did. For a brief moment, she even considered trying out some of the food but then wisely decided against the idea. Even if she was looking for entertainment, she was not brave enough to try the dishes at the event. She was bitter…not insane, thank you very much.

All in all the scene was quite peaceful. Maybe even too peaceful for her current mood....aaand then shit finally hit the fan. Because of course it did. That’s precisely what Eun-ji expected of this event. Suddenly, the maze decided to change its mind and no longer seemed interested in letting people pass easily. See, this is why I was so distrustful right from the beginning. The vines and hedges soon started wreaking havoc while numerous students did their best to fight them in order to escape. As for Eun-ji…well surprisingly, she found herself quite indifferent towards the situation. There didn’t seem to be any injuries that needed immediate care and she was in a safe distance from the mess (for now at least) so why bother? Let the adults take care of the situation for once. The witch was tired. It was easier not to care.

“Nica!” Ah, that sounded familiar. Turning around the Ravenclaw noticed two familiar faces nearby. The sparkly boy, she met while entering the maze and her former duelling opponent Monica. What were the odds of meeting them twice with so many people attending the ball? It was Tone, who promised to track Eun-ji down yet somehow she managed to run into him first. Still, none of the people in the group seemed to be injured so she didn’t even consider joining them. Luckily, they were also far too busy to notice her. Why is it always fire? Are they that desperate to kill somebody? What about the people on the other side? Then again, Eun-ji was pretty sure there would be plenty students on the other side, doing exactly the same thing. In that case, even more reason to stay put. She wasn’t rushing to safety but she wasn't eager to be burned either. Speaking from experience, it was quite unpleasant sensation. Let’s see if they will be lucky and escape without hurting themselves. Hopefully she wouldn’t have to step in. She was oddly content with doing nothing and just standing where she was.

That being said, Eun-ji did eventually look around to survey her surroundings. As she did so, she noticed yet another familiar figure standing nearby. This however was not just any figure. It was her friend Kim. To be precise...her only friend. Looking at him now, he also didn't seem eager to get away. In fact, their solemn expressions seemed to match perfectly. The witch knew he had been struggling with something recently but same as she didn’t tell him anything, he didn’t attempt do do so either. It was not that they didn’t care. They just both preferred not to pry and suffer in silence. Eun-ji didn’t plan to pry today either but he was bleeding and that just wouldn’t do. Her legs started moving before her brain managed to catch up. That was how it always was with her. She was drawn in by injuries and this was someone she cared about a great deal. There was no way she could ignore that.

Walking towards the boy, Eun-ji didn’t even bother greeting him. Somehow, it didn't fit the mood anyway. “You are bleeding.” She said instead. His wound was wrapped up but it was clearly not enough to stop the bleeding. Strange... Considering it was on his arm, someone must have helped him do it. Why didn’t they stick around then? “Let me see.” The witch would not wait for his approval. He couldn’t really protest. She would have knocked him out if she had to just so she could heal him. He probably knew this as well. Pulling out her wand and some tissues, Eun-ji carefully unwrapped the cloth. The wound was not nice but she could definitely make it at least somewhat better. First, she cleaned the blood around the wound with a tissue. Her hand didn’t shake and the red liquid clearly didn’t bother her. She had plenty of practice with this and knew what to do. She had also seen far worse.

The pair must have looked oddly peaceful amidst the chaos. It was obvious they were both fine with staying put. Eun-ji wondered whether Kim felt as miserable as she did now. It certainly looked like he did but she wasn’t quite sure what to say. At least, the wound gave her something to focus on. Not that she was happy to see him hurt. Quite on the contrary. “Ferula.” Finally, the incantation was voiced out in clear and composed manner. It should work, right? She had yet to fail at casting this particular spell. No matter…if I fail, I can always try again.

Those plants were moving and they can't have them blocking the entrance and let the people be trapped here. This was certainly not part of the plan for this ball. Raizel wondered who else had noticed this, if the other ball planners had already seen this problem. From the way that the music is continuing in the background, the lack of many panicked people, perhaps only a few had noticed this growing problem. Whether that's a good thing or bad, that she's not sure of. Before things escalate more, she knows that she has to take action… right here, right now.

The first year Gryffindor looked at the overgrown entrance and then to her wand that is now illuminating a small area but enough for her to get a good look at the hedge. Her grip tightened, taking a deep breath to calm herself. She could barely cast the wand lighting charm earlier and the thought of casting another spell was getting to her nerves. "Just… try…" she muttered before pointing her wand towards the overgrown entrance, eyeing the writhing vines. She gritted her teeth, feeling bad for what she's about to do. Raizel loves plants, taking care of them. She used to help her mother tend to their garden back home.

"I'm sorry." She made a quick gesture before enunciating the incantation. "Incendio!" Hopefully, this won't backfire. Knowing her luck, that is a huge possibility.
