She took in a deep breath. This was an amateur audition, there was no way she couldn't make it. How many of these guys had been doing these things professionally? Alexx was raised around the professional business. There was no one in here who could have possibly seen the things she had seen. Call her cocky, but she knew it was true. She had the upper hand in the arts. And so the best thing she could do was provide her professionalism to this school and to help aspiring actors and actresses rise to the top.

Alexx waited her turn, tuning out those who went before her so that she wouldn't distract herself. But when it was finally her turn, she stood proudly, smiling. She climbed to the stage, excited. "Bonjour! Je m'apelle Alexx Helm! Today I will be reading a monologue, singing, and I am sure you heard me play at the Enchanted Souls audition, so I decided to leave the tuba and the bass clarinet in the case today." She announced cheerfully. Then, clearing her throat, she started again. "I will be reading from Act Four of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, spoken by the character Astroff.

You seem to be sincere and good, and yet there is something strangely
disquieting about all your personality. No sooner did you arrive
here with your husband than every one whom you found busy and
actively creating something was forced to drop his work and give
himself up for the whole summer to your husband's gout and
yourself. You and he have infected us with your idleness. I have
been swept off my feet; I have not put my hand to a thing for
weeks, during which sickness has been running its course
unchecked among the people, and the peasants have been pasturing
their cattle in my woods and young plantations. Go where you
will, you and your husband will always carry destruction in your
train. I am joking of course, and yet I am strangely sure that
had you stayed here we should have been overtaken by the most
immense desolation. I would have gone to my ruin, and you--you
would not have prospered. So go! E finita la comedia!"

She paused in the spot where Helena would respond to Astroff before continuing.
"How strange it is. We meet, and then suddenly it seems
that we must part forever. That is the way in this world. As long
as we are alone, before Uncle Vanya comes in with a
bouquet--allow me--to kiss you good-bye--may I?"

Then, smiling, she took a bow. That was Alexx's go-to audition monologue. It was the first one that she ever memorized, and it was always a guaranteed jaw-dropper. To memorize lines from an uncommon Russian play at the age of 9 was impressive, but to remember it up until you were 12 was even better. "And scene." She called, smiling. "Now, I will sing 'Mama Who Bore Me' from Spring Awakening." Alexx almost went with something from Hamilton, but she knew better. It was common and overdone, despite the musical itself being brilliant. Spring Awakening didn't nearly get enough credit for its genius in any case. Despite her not being religious (obviously), the song was a good audition song, and it complimented her vocal range very well.

She ended the song, smiling. "And, that concludes my audition. Thank you."

Ellara approached the performance space next, a nervous smile on her face. Though the young witch was not unaccustomed to crowds, there was always something a little bit nerve-racking about being judged based on your talent of doing what you love. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to relax, hold her head up high, and pull her shoulders back, just as her mum used to tell her when she was younger.

Once standing in the middle of the stage, Ellara smiled over at Sonya and announced, "My name is Ellara Butler. I'm a first year Hufflepuff, and I'll be reading a monologue from Romeo and Juliet, and singing "Castle on a Cloud" from the musical Les Miserables by Claude-Michel Schönberg.

She opted to sing first and stood in front of a microphone, singing with acapella, "There is a castle on a cloud... I like to go there in my sleep..." It was evident she had some form of training in the singing section, as her soprano voice echoed about the room in an almost ethereal manner. Her eyes shining with hope, she played the part off into the top left corner of the room, then finally finished a few verses and glanced back over at Sonya.

"Sorry if I mess this part up a little bit! Here goes." Ellara wiped the smile off of her face, replacing it with a serious, almost distressed expression, and looked at an invisible vial in her hand, visibly shaking. "What if it be a poison, which the friar subtly hath minister'd to have me dead. Lest in this marriage he should be dishonor'd, because he married me before to Romeo? I fear it is: and yet, methinks, it should not, for he hath still been tried a holy man..."

The scene moved forward as Ellara verbally pronounced Juliet's various worries on the arrangement, eventually stumbling back suddenly, with eyes wide as saucers, as she spotted Tybalt's ghost on stage left. "" O, look! methinks I see my cousin's ghost seeking out Romeo, that did spit his body upon a rapier's point: stay, Tybalt, stay!" She held up an arm, warding the invisible figure away.

Finally, with a look of solemnity, panic, and stress all at once, she held up the invisible vial and whispered, "Romeo, I come! This do I drink to thee." She held up the vial for a moment towards that back of the room in a toast to Romeo, then downed it like a shot, collapsing to the floor in silence.

After a moment, where she lay still, Ellara sprang back up to her feet and gave a slight curtsy, murmuring something along the lines of thanks before scurrying off stage.
