The Weeping Water-Closet Closed

Niks walked through the halls of Hogwarts when she saw light in a bathroom. This bathroom should be deserted, because it was really dilapidated and it was quite late. She heard a voice that she faintly recognized ask: "Hi? Who's in there? I'm sorry if I'm disturbing you, I was just looking for an empty room to study in..." a short pause later, she heard "I'm sorry, are you alright?"

Earlier, Niks had been hungry. Her stomach grumbled like she didn't eat for 8 days (which wasn't like that, she just ate dinner). She heard the other day from a Hufflepuff where the kitchen entrance is, so she descided to sneak out.
She stood up from her desk, pulled a hoodie over her head, put her shoes on and tried to leave the dorm without making noise, because she didn't want to disturb her studying friends.
And that's how she found herself here in the hall, where she heard a voice that sounded like her friend and dorm-mate Lizzi.
"Lizzi, is that you? What are you doing here?" Niks whispered while walking to the girl. When she walked closer, she saw that it was indeed Lizzi.

I saw your post and I thought, let's meet again somewhere else. Is that okay for you?

"Lizzi, is that you? What are you doing here?"
Lizzi jumped with fright at the sudden speech, drawing her from her curiosity at the weeping in the cubicle.
Rapidly spinning on her heel, Lizzi saw a face she vaguely recognised from somewhere...
Oh! It was Niks, the kind girl from the dorm! They had met the other day, when Lizzi began to realise that she was considered normal in Ravenclaw.
"Oh! You frightened me a bit there!" Lizzi chuckled extremely awkwardly and nervously. "Hey Niks! I was just looking for a quiet place to study..."
Lizzi rushed to get her words out, fearing the look that would almost definitely pass over the girl's face, no matter how lovely she was. She was used to it. She studied a lot, get over it.
As she spoke, Lizzi awkwardly scratched the back of her head, and shuffled her feet, afraid to meet the girl's eyes.
"What about you? What are you doing?"
Lizzi mumbled, even though she had always hated mumblers. It was just so awkward. Who leaves past curfew just to find a spot to study? Lizzi, apparently.
As she awaited the girl's explanation as to her whereabouts, Lizzi continued her feet shuffling and head scratching.

Lizzi immediately turned around at the sound of Niks' voice. She had a face like she was caught doing something she shouldn't be doing.
"Oh! You frightened me a bit there! Hey Niks! I was just looking for a quiet place to study..." Lizzi answered her question with an awkward chuckle.
Niks understood that she searched a quite place to study. The common room, even though it was full of people who studied a lot, still could be busy at times.
"What about you? What are you doing?" Lizzi asked before Niks could answer.
"I was on my way to the kitchen to grab a snack whan I heard you in here. I though I should take a look if everything is okay." Niks answered honestly.
Lizzi was looking a bit awkward, she shuffeled in her place and rubbed her head.
"Do you know it is past curfew? I think that it is quite late to study. You also need rest, you know. Yeah, you knew that." Niks said, the last part whispered because it wasn't really a witty remark.
"You know that I won't snitch on you right? I'm also out after curfew, so that wouldn't be very smart of me." she reassured Lizzi.
"Maybe we should both go-" Niks started, but she was interrupted by a weird sound from a closed cubicle.
"What was that?"

Lizzi continued her awkward head scratching and feet shuffling as Niks spoke. She explained how Lizzi needed rest, and something about how they're both out after curfew so it wouldn't be very smart of her to snitch. But Lizzi wasn't listening, really. She was listening for more sobs from the bathroom.
Then, as Niks was presumably about to suggest that they stick together (everyone always did), a large sob came from the bathroom. More like a wail, actually, but definitely someone crying.
"What was that?" Niks asked.
"There's someone in the cubicle crying. That's who I was talking to when you walked in. I was trying to comfort them, let them know it's alright to come out."
Lizzi knew that the person in the cubicle could hear them, so she added the last scentence a great deal louder, in the hopes that the person would indeed come out.
"Anyway," Lizzi continued, after a moment of staring at the door, "You were about to suggest that we go around together?"
She didn't mean to sound rude, but whenever she had been out past curfew, she seemed to bump into somebody, and they would always suggest that they stick together. Lizzi really couldn't see the point.

Niks was still staring at the closed cubicle in surprise when Lizzi asked if she suggested if they would go around together. She didn't sound pleased by Niks' idea.
"Um, only if you want that. I also understand if you want some me-time sometimes. I'm sorry for interrupting your search for a place to study." Niks said, apologizing. She hadn't thought about it before, but maybe Lizzi didn't want her to be there. She understood that people sometimes needed space.
"But I'm actually really curious about that cublice, so maybe we can see if we can discover what's inside and then I go away and let you do whatever you want? Is that a good plan?" Niks proposes.
She walks to the cubicle and knocked softly on the door.
"Hello, is there somebody inside? Do you need help or not?" Niks aske, loud enough for a possible someone inside the cubicle to hear.
There was a deafening silence on the other side of the door. If there was somebody, they cound atleast tell them to go away, or that they didn't need any help?
"Maybe this is one of Hogwarts' mysteries? Okay then, we'll find out if there's something hidden." Niks said, while crouching down on her knees to look under the door.
"What?"
