2023, Stage 3 Hufflepuff vs Slytherin: Match 6

It seemed to Starlee that Hades was getting desperate. Confused even, or maybe he was feeling everything in between. Starlee knew how hard that could be, feeling alone on the piste. Although in her case, her partner was standing next to her, she just did absolutely nothing. Perhaps that was worse.

Ming was still looking worse for wear after being hit with the Flipendo, and 2v1 was obviously better than 1v1, so it was still in Starlee’s best interest to heal him. He hadn’t appreciated her help as much as she thought he would, in fact, he seemed to take offense to it. It wasn’t a slight against him, but some people carried such pride that Starlee would never understand. She decided to ignore it, and simply respond, ”Of course, I can’t say no to a good cup of tea.”

For Hades, things were going too fast to the point where he was unable to process it. On his turn to use the spell, he had success in performing it but Ming seemed to be lucky and could dodge it. The badger said an insult and focused his attention. His skin irritated him a little because of the flame that still persisted on his skin, he did not want to touch in case anything could happen to his skin. Wasn’t it important to be careful in his physique? They’d be gone by now as soon as the duel was over...

Normally he would have said something, but this time he kept his mouth shut. He had been able to dodge the spell in which Ming had intended to hit him... And later it was Kennedy’s turn, who seemed to have used a healing spell on Ming again. He sighed and shrugged, but was slightly surprised to see that the boy had not reacted well to the help offered. It was to be expected that the situation was getting tense, but he tried his best to win it.

It was clear that Slytherin was having the upper hand in this duel and Samantha wondered if Hades would be able to survive until the time limit was over. From experience, she knew that having two opponents while being on your own was no fun at all. Starlee used one of Samantha's favorite spells, the wind jinx, and a jolt of wind made his way over to Hades. The boy would be hit by the strong wind, just before another spell hit him. It seemed like Ming also had a favorite spell, as he had cast incendio duo in the last couple of rounds. This time his spell hit and a flame would burn itself in Hades' skin.

As much as Fang Hui-Ming desired victory for Slytherin House, and a victory for himself given his own abysmal record, he had no intentions of resorting to unsportsmanlike conduct that would be beneath his family and his name. Despite the intensity of the duel, his eyes remained clear and focused, even as his wand danced in his hand.

This was his moment to seize the advantage and close the duel, this was the moment to set his narrative.

Things couldn’t be going better for the young Slytherin. Well, at least in her dueling career. Her day to day life was another story.

In any case, both her and her partner landed their casts, while Hades did… nothing? Perhaps Starlee was right, Hades had to be in a not so great state of mind. They were close, Starlee knew it.

Since none of the Hufflepuffs posted or sent in actions within the deadline for 2 consecutive rounds, they forfeit automatically, as mentioned in the dueling rules.

It had already been clear that the duel was coming to an end and when Hades didn't make a move for the second time, Samantha called the duel to an end. "Wands down," she said loudly, to get the attention of both snakes and the one remaining Hufflepuff. Slowly, the captain made her way to the stage until she reached the middle of the stage. With Hades on one side and Ming and Starlee on the other, she called out: "Congratulations to Slytherin for winning this duel!"

When the spectators were done cheering and applauding the winning team, Samantha would turn to Hades. "You did well," she told the student with an encouraging smile. Even though the other had lost the duel, she didn't want him to lose his love for the sport.
