Tristan is a scrawny 11-year-old boy still hoping for puberty to finally hit him. Standing at around 1,39 meters, he's a mere 2 centimeters shorter than his cousin, Ruthie - much to his dismay. His face is also unaffected by puberty yet, round and boyish with no significant jawline or cheekbones.
The many older women that inhabit high society adore pinching on Tristan’s round cheeks and nose, and love having him smile for them so they can see his dimples. His boyish looks are accompanied by deep brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. He likes to keep it shaggy, despite his mother’s insistence on keeping it tidy. Luckily, he is finally out of her grip for the year and can grow it out.
As an adolescent boy, Tristan doesn’t care about his appearance all that much. Although he is occasionally forced to put on a suit and gel his hair when his family attends a party, he keeps his clothes comfortable and his hair shaggy. During the colder months, he’ll be seen wearing a jumper and jeans, but he’ll put on some shorts and a polo when the air gets warmer.

a Personality
While raised with a silver spoon in his mouth and literal etiquette classes, Tristan is by no means a 'classy' boy. He is an extremely rambunctious child with a love of chaos and rule-breaking. Whether it be coercing his cousin into making a scene at a party they're being forced to attend or scaring his wizard friends into thinking he has magical capabilities far beyond his actual ones, he has a charm that can get both his friends and himself into trouble.
Tristan didn't get that charm from nowhere. While he maybe broke a few too many pieces of china in his days of etiquette classes, he did pay attention. His upbringing taught him how to be suave and charming, allowing him to become the leader of his friend group and avoid many-a-scolding from the older ladies of their high-class society.
His laid-back attitude and apathy towards social norms quite often leads him into hot water. Not just with the frequent scoldings and punishments, but also when dealing with heavy stuff. Living pampered in a household with a strict ‘pretend everything is fine’ rule, Tristan never was taught how to process negative emotions. He has trouble articulating the things that trouble him, leading him to carry anger and sadness for far too long. And when someone else is hurting, he copes with quips and jokes, which do not normally go over well for him.

a Pre-Hogwarts History
| ReducioKatarina Isolde, was the youngest daughter of Antonia and Pieter Isolde and part of one of the richest wizarding families in the Netherlands. She was a very troublesome girl, despite this, and fell in love with a half-blood man named Oliver Marion and soon found herself pregnant with Tristan. Her parents were furious with her, having a baby out of wedlock, with a half-blood no less. When she could hide her pregnancy for no longer, she fled from her hometown Bovenkerk to Scotland where her older sister resided, leaving behind Oliver.
Tristan was born on a cold January Friday in St. Andrews, Scotland. Despite Katarina now being a social pariah and disowned from her family, she was able to continue to live wealthily thanks to her prestigious education landing her a high-paying job at the Ministry. She needed to work long hours so she got an at-home nanny to take care of Tristan, a referral who also used to live in the Netherlands, Lotte Frank.
Lotte and Tristan bonded heavily, to him she was like the grandmother he never had. She enchanted him with stories of her time as a young duelist, sparking Tristan’s interest in magical battles and duelling. She also spent quite a bit of time baking in the kitchen, giving Tristan quite the sweet tooth.
Lotte was not a soft nanny by any means, though. Tristan’s tendency for troublemaking led to many scoldings and the occasional smack on the back of the head, though it never really stopped him. Such as when he broke a very expensive vase right in front of Dotte. But just as her shocked expression was morphing into an enraged one, the vase suddenly put itself back together in front of their eyes. Despite Tristan’s delight at his first magical experience and the vase no longer being broken, he was still sent to his room that night.
Before his fated letter to Hogwarts would arrive, Tristan attended a muggle primary school but mainly kept close relationships with the other children from wizarding families. He found his place as a sort of leader of his friend group and would lead them into a primary schooling full of pranks and detentions.|

ReducioThe Isolde family is a lineage full of wealth and purebloods. Blood status supremacy rang hard in the family, with any Muggle blood resulting in a withered branch. Pieter Isolde was the eldest of four Isolde children and his views towards blood status only grew more rigid as he grew up in the tension that would eventually build up to the First Wizarding War.
He would be betrothed to Antonia De Haas. She was a pretty enough girl, though that alone was pretty much the reason they got together, besides her family's fortune, of course. While the two of them grew up in a world where blood status was the marker of most all Wizarding interactions, their two daughters, at least from what they can remember, grew up in a world where the figurehead of pureblood supremacy was no more.
This was especially apparent to Pieter and Antonia's youngest daughter, Katarina Anna Isolde, only 7 when Voldemort died. Sure her parents and their friends functioned with their noses held high and prejudice, the rest of the world was no longer really functioning that way. When she made it to Beauxbatons, the only people ostracizing half-bloods and muggleborns were the people she and her family associated with. To her, it felt like her family was the problem, not them.
So Katarina grew closer to people outside of her social circle and became friends with many of them. Her parents were not happy with her social choices in the slightest, making their relationship strained. And as many an upset teenager do, Katarina began to act out and cause trouble to even further rebel with her parents.
This led her to meet Oliver Marion, dark-haired and handsome with a rebellious streak, he was a total dream boat to Katarina. Her older sister and seer, Trudy, who claimed she kept having terrible visions with him involved, disapproved of him heavily. She ignored her warnings though, even if she had a better relationship with her than her parents, Trudy was still the apple of their eye because she was a seer. So if her seer visions were telling Katarina to stay away, that only made her want him more.
Katarina eventually became pregnant with Tristan. When she told Oliver, she was devastated to find out he didn't want the baby. She tried to find a place in the Netherlands before her parents found out, but her baby bump grew too fast for her to. Her parents were furious and threw her out of the house and will.
With no one else to turn to, she went to Scotland where Trudy and her husband, Grant, were living. Dealing with their own newborn, Katarina quickly tried to find work and found a job as a Foreign Affairs Officer for the Ministry thanks to Grant's connections and her Dutch and German.
Katarina had Tristan on a Friday in January in St. Andrews Hospital, the luckiest Friday the 13th she ever had. Getting her job so fast with the agreement she would only take a week of maternity leave, she needed to get an at-home nanny as soon as Tristan was born. She was put into contact with Lotte, a retired witch looking for some less magic intensive excitement in her life.
Tristan loves his mother, but he does feel this distance with her. She's always working, which he understands is to put food on the table, but it still can be quite frustrating at times. Especially since when she does have time off, they're normally at a party or gala of some sort and being a social pariah, it can be hard to socialize so she jumps at any person willing to talk to her. She's still his mother though and he knows that she's trying her best.Oliver Marion
