Madison gave a long and detailed answer, filling the gaps and clarifying the bits Simon did not understand. He tried to take it all in and soon found him analyzing the information, trying to draw conclusions on either what had caused her scar or how she could be free of her agony. He was indeed only a first year, but he had read quite a lot of various literature from the Wizarding world, since his father was quite a bookworm himself.
Rainy weather. Struck by something. Scar. Memory loss... Simon looked up.
"Have you read Fantastic beasts and where to find them? I've only read bits of it, mostly used it as an encyclopedia. But there is this beast called a Thunderbird. Didn't Newt Scamander use a Thunderbird to obliviate, like, the whole of New York? By using the venom of a Swooping Evil." No, he thought. This seems highly illogical. "But Thunderbirds live in Northern America. And why would someone try to obliviate your neighborhood or town? And then there would have been more cases of memory loss, not just you, most likely... But still. It's worth reflecting on. Maybe you encountered some rare magical beast? Perhaps something that not usually attacks, and therefore there aren't many known cases and neither the first thing that healers or investigators would think of? Perhaps they have overlooked important details or clues?"
Simon felt quite clever with his analysis, but realized that this was not his problem to solve. After all, Madison had not asked for help to solve the mystery or help to be cured from her agony. All she wanted was probably for him to just listen and understand and be cool about it.
"But I understand if this is causing you some trouble and discomfort", he added with compassion in his voice. "I won't tell anyone about your scar, Madison, if you'd like to keep it a secret."

Madison listened to all he said and thought about it whilst he said it.
"Yeah, i've read it and it is possible that something attacked me. The doctors did think about that possibility but I was the only one to get hurt, no one else did, except me" she says before thinking out loud some more. "I think we need to go to somewhere, and there is only one place I can think of that will get us on the right track and that's the library. We need to go there and see what we can find" she says.
Madison smiles softly at Simon and nods "thank you, i would appreciate that. Will you help me find out what could be behind this, please?" she asks, on the verge of tears since the only other person who made her feel this understood or cared for was her dad and she wasn't with him right now.
Madison took a deep breath in and out before looking at Simon again "you know that, this journey to find out how I got my scar, could lead to us breaking a load of school rules and potentially getting into a lot of trouble if we get caught?" she says before adding, "but I could really use your help, I can't do this on my own" she says, sitting on the grass beside Simon

"Will you help me find out what could be behind this, please?"
"Sure, Madison!", said Simon. "Of course I'll help you, if I can."
Despite him being so proud just a moment ago when the ideas came flooding, now that Madison asked, he was not sure whether he would actually be able to help her or if he would just let her down, creating false hopes of a cure that was no where to be found. After all, they were only 11, in the beginning of their education. If the healers had considered the same ideas as Simon did, they would have to be even more creative.
"You know that this journey to find out how I got my scar could lead to us breaking a load of school rules and potentially getting into a lot of trouble if we get caught? But I could really use your help, I can't do this on my own."
Simon swallowed. "Why would we break the school rules? Do you think that the answer lies within Hogwarts?"
Voices were heard from somewhere in the area. Whoever they were they seemed to be far away but Simon reacted instantly:
"Someone's coming! The brooms – we need to get them back, quickly, before anyone catches us", said Simon and got up on his feet.

"Why would we break the school rules? Do you think that the answer lies within Hogwarts?"
Madison looked at him and took a deep breath "I don't know, maybe, or they at least lie within Hogwarts grounds, please Simon, I wouldn't be asking if I didn't think I could do this alone. I know we're really young, but please, you're the only person I've told about my scar that hasn't looked at me like i'm a complete weirdo, and by other people, I mean the doctors" she says with a sigh.
"Someone's coming! The brooms – we need to get them back, quickly, before anyone catches us",
Madison nods and hides the brooms with Simon, putting them back in with the other brooms before, walking over to the edge of the courtyard and sitting on one of the arch ledges. Madison looked at Simon and smiled as teachers walked past, not talking until they were out of sight,
"That was close" Madison says with a breath of relief. She then talks again in a hushed voice "Simon, I think that either something, or someone, attacked me. I don't know why, but whatever happened to me, happened for a reason. I could have died that day, but something prevented that, I don't know what we'll find out, but I think the best place to start, would be the library. Hopefully the books we'll need are not in the restricted area, I don't know what we'll do if they are, we can't go in there without special permission from a professor and goodness knows as a first year we won't get that" Madison says, looking at Simon as she rubs her scar again, tears slowly staining her cheeks as she looks at him "I'm sorry that this ruined our flying time Simon, but you did pretty well for your first time on a broom, I'm impressed" Madison said with a smile, trying to change the subject as she looks at him, tilting her head slightly "something on your mind Simon? Is it about me and my scar, cause if so, I understand" Madison said with a slight sigh, but also a slight smile. She covers her hand with one of the bandages in her pocket to stop her from scratching it as she smiles at Simon once more

"Hopefully the books we'll need are not in the restricted area, I don't know what we'll do if they are, we can't go in there without special permission from a professor and goodness knows as a first year we won't get that."
"Hmm... I suppose you are right", said Simon, thinking deeply about it before continuing with an uplifting smile: "Well! I guess we'd better hope that we will find something useful within the regular library then!"
Madison's scar seemed to start itching again and when he looked at her, he noticed that she was crying. He put his hand on her shoulder, not sure exactly how to comfort a crying girl at his age, but at least it felt right to show some form of compassion.
"I'm sorry that this ruined our flying time Simon, but you did pretty well for your first time on a broom, I'm impressed", said Madison and cracked a smile.
"Thanks, Madison." He was genuinely glad to hear that, but was still bothered by her scar and the agony it caused her.
"Something on your mind Simon? Is it about me and my scar, cause if so, I understand."
"Well no, I mean, yeah, it is. But it's... It's not like I find it weird or anything, just so you know", he reassured her. "I'm just concerned, that's all. But look at it like this, Madison. Solving the mystery behind your scar would certainly require a whole lot more knowledge – and what better place is there to gain knowledge than here at Hogwarts?"
He gave her yet another comforting smile.
"Come on. We'd better get back to the castle now."
