Last round, this should be good, up until this point Milo had continued to just stick around the hoops, after all, can't catch them if you aren't there. It still, still managed to be even. Milo had caught 2 quaffles this time, missing only one of them. Seems if he couldn't stay as a beater for whatever reason, keeper could be his next calling. Although it was a lot more boring than aiming solid harmful balls at the brooms and bodies of fellow players to absolutely destroy your opponents.

All in all, Milo certainly didn't expect to be tied in multiple rounds in a row. He was hopeful that the tides could turn over a bit in their favour but even if it stayed as a tie he would be happy enough. If he could win though, he would be so happy to tell his standard teammates how he managed to win a game as the keeper, they likely wouldn't believe he would be able to do a job as 'tedious' in the explanation that you have to wait for people to come to you unless you play the field, if you stay at the hoops you just have to chill there. Typically he would be zooming around.

T hings were getting messier as time went on.

The scrimmages were less clean, but that was all planned; amazing what a few pointed looks could convey between people that had only just learned of one another. Harlan had vocalised his support of the strategy moments before ‘kick off’, and then all hell broke loose. Ginyami had left the hoops? Well this was going to be a breeze…

Unfortunately for him, he was wrong. The extra presence and experience of the upper-year was certainly a boon for them, as they seemed to go toe-to-toe with the aggressive strategy the red team had employed. Amidst it all, he managed to navigate to Maverick again, snatching the ball and making for a quick and easy goal against the undefended hoops. This was good, all they had to do was keep up the pressure and he would surely take advantage of their chosen strategy.

Of course, the blue team kept them on their toes, and Ginyami returned to the hoops for the next round. Unsuspecting of her, Angelique easily skilled the ball away from him and the team that was down a player made fools of them all the same. After that, their luck dwindled further as Yevgeny’s aggressive charge was both fruitless and detrimental to their efforts, as he now was forced to take a penalty lap like June, who Avery could now see was flitting back into view; wind flushing her golden hair. – He had a general appreciation for her, more so than many others he knew within and without their esteemed school, and yet in this moment; it faded, as though a rock was in his stomach, threatening to ground him with the weight of his pride.

“Welp, they’re sure to press the advantage! Eyes up lads!” He called to Harlan and Milo, as he tightened the grip of his gifted broom.
Action as strategized.

"FINAL MINUTES OF THE GAME, ONLY FIVE MORE SCRIMMAGES."

It had been a long and exhausting game, and many of the players were worn out. Neither Harlan nor Yevgeny seemed to be in any state to continue contesting the Quaffle. The other chasers were not faring too much better, either. But Aryaan's announcement appeared to have lit a fire under several chasers, who seemed determined to see the game through out of sheer adrenaline.

In the first scrimmage, Maverick expertly blocked Avery, allowing Angelique to execute a showy roll on her broom (nat 20) as she took possession of the Quaffle and zipped towards the goals. With Milo taking an odd position right in front of the hoops, Angelique decided to go all in on her showmanship; quite literally standing on her broom, and jumping off it and through the hoops, forcing the Quaffle past Milo. Talk about dedication to the game--

"FOUL! MILO! FLA- shit. TIME OUT!"

Aryaan cut himself off as he realized that no one was quite in a position to save the fanatic from falling from the broom she'd leaped off of, forcing him to race to catch her and deposit her safely onto the ground.

"MILO. FLACKING FOUL. ONE LAP AROUND THE PITCH" Shamsi roared, without any real heat. Cheating was as much part of the game as brooms were at this point.

Without their keeper and with every other teammate winded, Avery seemed to decide to try and take on the entirety of the Blue team by himself. In Scrimamge 2, the first year barely managed to eke out possession of the Quaffle from the combined efforts of the two red Chasers, racing past them and right towards the goal. This time, Ginyami was prepared for the chaser, knocking way Avery's scoring attempt with laughable ease.

Scrimmage 3 saw a change in tactics, with Maverick marking Avery and June attempting to go for the Quaffle. With a burst of speed that the young Slytherin managed from heaven knows where, Avery managed to blindside Maverick and steal the ball from June, making a lightning-fast blitz for the goals. Avery's shot was about as good as a professional player in the under 15 tournaments, but Ginyami had not been the top Keeper in Mahoutokoro for nothing. The older Japanese boy blocked the high-speed shot without too much trouble.

Scrimmage 4 saw Maverick give Avery some trouble as June took the Quaffle and flew towards the red goals; but Avery managed to feint Maverick out, steal the Quaffle back from June, and zig-zag past their defensive attempts. And he was back facing Ginyami. As speed had not worked last time, Avery attempted a shot with some tricky sidespin. Ginyami however managed to not only punch it out of the air, but send it towards one of his teammates. The keeper's calculations were a bit off though, as the Quaffle fell just short of a pass, ending this round.

It was beyond impressive that Avery had managed to constantly up the ante this entire round -- his last shot might even have been pro material. But the boy was a mere mortal like the rest of them, and was not sweating from the exertions of the game.

"FINAL SCRIMMAGE BOYS AND GIRLS"

In a hotly-contested Quaffle contest, Avery barely managed to overpower June for possession, and flew up to Ginyami to make his final shot. It all came down to this one last shot. Would Avery be able to singlehandedly pull his team through, or would Ginyami win it for the Blues?

A beat; a feint, and Avery takes his shot. Ginyami had started going the wrong way, and had to correct his course. Stretching to save it, for a moment it seemed that Ginyami had failed as the Quaffle flew past his extended keeper's gloves.

CLANG

The Quaffle hit the bar of the goal hoops - the Keeper had likely managed to barely touch it with the tip of his fingers, altering the course of the shot, and saving the goal.

"AND THAT DOES IT. THAT'S GAME."
BLUE TEAM WIN 70-60

The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening
