Baking Workshop
Amanda walked over to the tent where the baking event of the Oktoberfest was being held. She was wearing an oversized sweatshirt, a pair of athletic pants, and high top sneakers. She wasn’t the best at baking. In fact, she could be downright awful at making sweet treats. But she had decided to take a chance and try to have some fun. It was spooky season after all. She couldn’t just sit around and be bored like she usually did.Interactions: Arthur Morgan and Devina Spence
When she was younger, her family would all celebrate Halloween together. They would work on their costumes, bake cookies, decorate the lawn, and carve pumpkins. Amanda missed spending Halloween with her family. Sure, two of her three siblings were here at Hogwarts, but they all had their friends to hang out with. I know that I keep telling myself this, but I really need to make some close friends.
She approached the tent and glanced around at the people present. None of her friends were there yet, so she meandered over to a brown-haired boy and a red-haired girl. “Hello, I’m Amanda. I just got here and I’m not exactly sure what we should be doing. Are we supposed to pair up or what?”
“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

"Aye, I was looking for you." The boy smiled at her. "You told me to come and check it out, so couldn't leave you hanging." A smirk was noticable in the corner of his mouth. He shuffled a bit as he realized he must've looked silly, standing in the back of the tent all by himself. He turned to Ana. "I like the hair." he smiled. "So, do you know what Lebkuchen is?" A small grimace appeared on his face as he was half expecting her to burst in culinary explanations on the many ways to bake the recepy.Location: Baking station

The tent seemed a little crowded, yet there were still some cooking stations unmanned. He nodded to Ana and motioned her to follow him. "C'mon then, lets see what we can make of this." Not that he had any clue how to bake. Where would he have learned to do that? His father? He couldn't bake a fish right and he's a fisherman! Arriving at the table, the boy looked a bit silly standing there. "Ehhh..." he looked at Ana. "Ingredients first? i think we need to sieve the flour with a bit of salt, no?" he was getting a bit nervoues really. Why did he agree to this? His cheeks got a little red as he looked at Ana.

{ Interacting with Nagal }
Hjørdis measured out five hundred grams of flour, preparing them for the next part of the recipe. She glanced over at it, it required them to mix most of the ingredients together and start the kneading process. Turning to her partner, she noticed that he had already gone to get the rest of the ingredients. She caught his eye as he held up a container with a straight face. It was barely noticeable but one of her eyebrows twitched ever so slightly. It was something that nearly everyone missed but those who paid close attention. It twitched in certain situations, like this. When she was slightly irritated. The Slytherin narrowed her eyes at him, "Star anise does not belong in cookies, Professor Nagal," Hjørdis replied in a matter of fact tone, even though it was an opinion rather than fact. What sort of monster would even joke about such a thing?!
Taking the baking soda from him, she twisted the lid open and picked up a teaspoon to drop one full teaspoon worth into the flour that she had measured out. She closed the container and added a tablespoon worth of the cocoa powder next. Adding all of the measured out mixture into a large bowl, Hjørdis sighed softly, "Perhaps I'll pick up a book from the library," She agreed, making a mental note to at least learn some of the basic phrases and words that were commonly used. She did hope that it was simply a one-off event but Hjørdis did like to be prepared. Though she did not understand why someone thought she was German. She knew a range of languages as it was, German simply was not one of them. It was times like this when she missed muggle technology. Learning a new language was incredibly easy when you could sit in bed, listening to audio files throughout the web. It was far easier to search for them online than to find a book that taught it properly.
She mixed the baking soda and cocoa powder into the flour a little with a large wooden spoon. "Thank you but I'm sure my nails will be fine," She replied with a nod, as she picked up some of the spices that he had brought over, "I'm very capable of washing them," She resorted to his tease. Her gaze scanned them. They were all good choices. Hjørdis started with the cinnamon, which was of absolutely no surprise to anyone. It was one of the best amongst the available options and a little cinnamon never hurt anyone. Carefully, she added some into the mixture before looking at the other options. Cinnamon, some coriander and a touch of nutmeg sounded right to her. Hjørdis was not particularly inclined to the taste of coriander but she did not mind it. She took the hint that her fellow professor would not mind trying it, simply because he had brought it over.
She look at the other ingredients for a moment, wondering if she could add anything else or wanted to experiment with anything else. She did not. Cardamom was one that she did enjoy. However, she opted to make the cookies without it today as it was not a taste that everyone enjoyed. Instead, she could consume the baked goods with a cup of cardamom tea, that sounded pretty delicious to her in fairness.
Hjørdis finished adding the spices into the mixture, stirring it a few times with the wooden spoon. Glancing over at him, she noticed that he was working on the butter-honey-sugar mix and was waiting to add it in. Without a word, she moved the mixing bowl towards him to indicate that he should add them when he was ready and went to grab an egg, which they would need for the next part too. Kneading was perhaps the best part of baking. It was true that getting things under her nails was bothersome but she had nail brushes and scrubs for a reason. She could easily clean it out with magic too if needed. But the progress of kneading was something she enjoyed, though you could not tell from her lack of an expression.
Placing the egg on the tabletop, she waited for him to add in the mixture so they could get to the kneading part. "I'm ready whenever you are..." Hjørdis stated as she held the bowl, turning to look at him and patiently waited for the mixture to be ready. She was not about to rush an alchemist... She knew better than to ever try and rush an alchemist. That never worked. With his skill and knowledge, she expected him to be able to handle that part of the mixture perfectly without her input and so, she simply waited until he said it was ready. She decided to let him mix in the hot mixture with a wooden spoon first, to avoid burning herself before she would add the egg into it as well so they could knead the dough.

Godmodding of Scott approved by Scott
The bright voice calling out to him was not a welcome one, and Elijah reluctantly turned around to face the approaching redhead, although he tried his best to keep a wide smile plastered on his face. This would be Ami Procoppio, Scott's best friend and a total airhead, in his opinion. Scott had reached out to him, asking him to come down to the Baking Workshop with him and Ami, and he had reluctantly agreed. The mention of Amadea was a surprise, however- he hadn't realized that another second year would be joining them. He had a vague suspicion that she was one of Ami's friends, as they were both Hufflepuffs, and Scott hadn't mentioned Amadea when inviting him to the Workshop.
He nodded silently at her question as she rolled up her sleeves and examined the recipe laid out before her. It was at that moment that Amadea showed up, apologetic about being tardy. He flashed a genuine smile at her, as he was quite tolerant of the Hufflepuff prefect- she was quiet and polite, which were both things he couldn't find fault in.
An owl swooped into the tent quite quickly, dropping off a note at their table before swooping out again. Reaching for it, Elijah unfurled it, his eyes darting across the parchment with his eyebrows knit together. "Scott's not coming, unfortunately," he reported, letting the scroll of parchment roll closed with a sharp snap. "He says he's got the 'sniffles', and to just carry on without him."
This would be an experience to remember, to be sure. Without the essential glue of Scott, it was just him with two Hufflepuff girls, one that he didn't really care for, and the other who was friends with the first. With a sigh, he turned to the recipe, eyes darting over the ingredients and instructions quickly. While he wasn't necessarily good at baking, he had a perfectionist side to him that ensured his skill with measuring and cutting. "Heat the butter, honey, and brown sugar at medium heat so that the sugar dissolves, then put it aside to cool," he read aloud, meeting both Ami's and Amadea's eyes. "I'll take honey, then, and you two can decide amongst yourselves."
Reaching for the pot of honey on the side of the table, he carefully measured out the required two-hundred and fifty grams required by the recipe with perfectly steady hands. Plopping it into the cauldron, he passed the scales to Ami, who would measure out her stuff, and then Amadea would measure out her ingredient. Maybe this wouldn't go as badly as he had thought it would.

Successfully catching the attention of the girl Bloom had pointed out, Arthur smiled and lowered his hand. He looked back at the small pan where the sugar had now fully dissolved in the simmering butter-honey mixture. Turning off the heat, he moved the pan to the side to cool, and waited for the girl to reach their station. "I'm Arthur, nice to meet you," he replied, cheerfully.Interaction: Devina, Amanda
He chuckled at her tongue and cheek introduction of her house. He knew Slytherin had a dark reputation. Maybe some of that was justified... But he also knew people from everyone house that were nice (and people from every house that were jerks) so he didn't put much stock in it. "No worries. Lots of my friends are in Slytherin," he said, thinking of Lara whom he'd met on the train, and the several other Slytherins he's met in various other events running throughout the month.
As Devina took over the mixing of the dry ingredients, Arthur started looking through the provided spices. He'd never made Lebkuchen himself, but he tried to call back the taste of it from his memories, separating out which spices he thought would work best. Definitely cinamon, nutmeg, and ginger. But something else as well, with an earthier, kind of spicy flavor... Before he could think on that too long, another girl came over to their table and addressed him;
“Hello, I’m Amanda. I just got here and I’m not exactly sure what we should be doing. Are we supposed to pair up or what?”
"We're supposed to pair up," he confirmed with a nod. "But I don't think there's a rule against groups bigger than two, if you want to join us?" he asked, glancing at Devina to see if she was alright with it too. "We just started on the second step," he said, pointing to the recipe.

Interaction: Aurelia
Howie followed Aurelia’s gaze as she spied a couple students a few tables over. His fingers would slide into his pocket and finger the handle of his wand. The rumors he had heard about the boy, Ben was his name, were quite awful. Attacks against other students, some wicked mask giving him untold power. Howie was still shocked that he had been allowed back into the school. One would think the Professors and staff would have forbid it, but they must have thier reasons. Still, his presence made Howie a bit nervous.
A familiar smell brought Howie’s attention back to the task at hand. Heated butter and warming spices began to fill the tent with thier scent. He watched as Aurelia began to measure the sugar, and prepare the butter and honey for the cauldron. Reading the next step, Howie began to mix the flour with the baking and cocoa powder.
The young Hufflepuff rolled his eyes. She acted so awkwardly around him and now it seemed that she would have a go at him. “Umm...ya know. You ran into the toilet freaking out, about to chug some potion. I smacked it out of your hand and the glass smashed everywhere. It’s how you cut you hand.” He would reply with his own sarcastic, but playful tone. “Don’t play coy, you have to remember. There was freakin blood everywhere!”“What do you mean Howie?”
Howie would withdraw his wand and tap the cauldron twice, setting the fire. Grabbing the bowl of flour he would place it between them. “Which of the spices should we add?”

Howie
It wasn’t a suprise that Howie had answered in a very sarcastic tone. She had expected it, and would even had said it the same way if she encountered somebody who was appearing oblivious to what had happened. Now, connecting the dots with what she knew and what Howie said happened, it made sense.
By her freaking out it meant that she had a panic attack. Howie has also mentioned about smacking the potion out of her grasp which meant that the panic attacks must have gotten much worse, still she didn’t remember how she got out of that situation. That would be for her to find out in the future.
She did have to explain it all to Howie now and was reluctant to, but Howie was asking a bit too much questions that it was impossible for her to avoid without having a lot more. Aurelia knew that forgetting cannot be undone and still couldn’t remember the specifics of the event but at least now she knew how it happened.
Aurelia was thankful that Howie had assisted her in lighting the fire. But had shifted a bit from the heating cauldron pot. She didn’t like what fire could do, not since the lock in event. The Hufflepuff then set a bowl filled with mixed flour in between the. Once again, Aurelia stepped back. Those pair of blue eyes were just to close. She just needed to keep herself distracted and it would be alright.
“Cinnamon is definitely one,” Aurelia mumbled, mostly intended for her own ears.
The spices on the small saucers were already ground up. Aurelia could only identify a few from its colours, which include ginger, a pale powder nutmeg. She lefted the others one by one, giving them a small sniff, in the process, recalling what her Mother had taught her. She set them down and shifted the bowls about.
“That would be 1/2 a teaspoon for Allspice, Coriander, Cardamom, Ginger, Star Anise each.” She gestured to the bowls of colourful spices lined neatly separate from the other spices.
The Gryffindor then pointed to the bowls of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. “5 and a half teaspoons for cinnamon and 1/4 for nutmeg and 2 for cloves” She instructed. There wasn’t ground Mace which was usually used with the cookies she baked back at home. They would come out tasting slightly different but that wasn’t a problem.
Aurelia would leave the dry ingredient mixing to Howie. She returned to the cauldron pot where the heating was about done. She stirred the mixture a few times with a wooden spoon before lifting the pot from the handle away from the fire and set it down for it to cool.
“What if I told you I couldn’t remember? I supposed you’ve already guessed what the concoction in the broken vail was.” Aurelia stated, looking down once again, avoiding eye contact.

Anastasia smiled at his words. She was more pleased than she expected to be at the fact that he had actually come. She couldn't figure out why exactly, but she didn't think too long on it. She supposed she was just glad to see someone that she tolerated and found funny at times. She grinned again when he said he liked the hair. "Thank you! They weren't quite as easy as my mother made it look, but I figured it out," she replied, trying to ignore the blush rising to her cheeks. Why on earth was she blushing? Anastasia Beckett didn't go around blushing when people said they liked her hair! She wanted to smack herself, but instead, she focused on his question.
"Lebkuchen is a traditional German Christmas treat, somewhat resembling gingerbread," Anastasia told Hugh, sounding as though she was reciting a dictionary entry. She didn't mention the fact that that was about all she knew about Lebkuchen in particular, and really baking in general. She was rather pleased with herself until Hugh asked what they were supposed to do. "That sounds like a decent plan." She really hadn't the faintest idea as to whether that was a good start or not. She glanced around to see what the other bakers were doing but that wasn't much help since they weren't close enough to hear. She supposed she would just pray that, between her and Hugh, they could figure something out.

The incoming owl surprised her, although the message even more so. She was disappointed that Scott wouldn't be able to join them today, but at least she still had Amadea. Oh, Amadea- her first true friend, and for now, the only person she was comfortable with. She still didn't trust that first year further than she could throw him, but now, cooperation was essential.Interactions: Elijah, Amadea

She didn't necessarily appreciate the way Elijah immediately took charge of the situation (they were older than him, after all), but she was in no position to protest. He seemed to know what he was doing, which was more than she could say about herself. It wasn't that she was bad at baking- no, quite the opposite, actually. She tended to steer clear away from any actual cooking, as the spitting oil wasn't all too appealing to her, but the oven was totally fine.
No, what was weird for her was all of the metric measurements.
You'd think that after so many years spent in England, she had finally gotten the hang of using the correct and logical way of measuring things, but nope. A vast majority of her life had been spent using the Imperial system, and there was no going back now. "Grams..." she said slowly, biting her bottom lip. "Right. So you just... measure it? Wow, that's still weird to me."
Glancing at the recipe, she reached for the brown sugar and the scales. "I guess I'll do this...?" Her hands trembling, she managed to pour out what seemed to be 100 grams of brown sugar. "Seems legit," she mumbled, and dumped it into the cauldron before passing it along to Amadea. "Here ya go."

Baking Workshop

Interaction: Elijah Huang & Ami Procoppio
Mention: Scott Alexander𝒜madea had been there for what felt like only a second before an owl swooped into the tent, startling her. All of these wizard things still sometimes threw her off guard. As her heartbeat returned to normal, her curiosity grew. Elijah took the parchment from the owl and read it, announcing that Scott would unfortunately not be joining them due to the case of the sniffles.
"Oh, that's a shame," she said, but to be honest, Amadea was having mixed feelings. Sure, she didn't mind meeting new people and she was sure that Scott was a wonderful person if he was friends with both Ami and Elijah, but on the other hand, Amadea was kind of intimidated by people that she didn't know. Meeting someone for the first time while baking just seemed a bit overwhelming to her. No matter how she felt, though, Scott wasn't going to be there and their team was now a threesome.
"Alright, let's get started!" she said. Elijah skimmed the recipe, quickly claiming the role of measuring the honey and left the rest for Ami and Amadea to pick. Ami went to go measure the sugar, mumbling something about measuring. Amadea was confused for a minute before remembering that her friend was from America and wasn't used to the metric system. Amadea let out a slight chuckle as she watched her friend measure out the 100 grams of sugar. She just hoped that Ami had done it correctly. If not, their Lebkuchen would either be very sweet or not sweet enough.
That left the butter to Amadea. She grabbed a knife and a stick of butter, chopping off 125 grams of it and plopping it into the cauldron. "Does someone want to stir it until the sugar dissolves?" Amadea asked. "In the meantime, I can get started on the second step: Mix flour with baking powder, cocoa powder and your selected spices. Oh right, we should probably choose our spices." Looking at all of the available ones, Amadea had to admit that she didn't really know what all of them were. Cinnamon and ginger seemed like normal spices, but cardamom and star anise? What were those? Maybe it was because Amadea didn't spend much time baking, but she had never heard of those two.
"Okay, so to be honest, I don't really know what all of these are...?" she trailed off hesitantly, looking at the other two. "What spices do you guys want to use?" Maybe her fellow chefs knew more about spices than she did and would have some wisdom to share.
