September sun
September in Scotland isn't very warm, but it is like it usually is. Considering that Hogwarts actually is located not very far from where Lancelot Pemberton lives - he doesn't know the exact placement, but being in the Scottish Highlands, its almost like home. That certainly helps in adjusting to living at Hogwarts. The new students have for the last week been exploring Hogwarts and had their first week of classes, slowly getting to learn magic. The sun is shining this Saturday after lunch and there are some people hanging at the courtyard. Lance hasn't been outside much yet, because navigating the castle is hard enough, but he will need to learn to find his way around most everywhere. It's nice to be outside though, while it's still warm enough to not need too many layers. Before winter comes.
As Lance sits along the walls, he watches what's going on. Older students moving around and chatting, enjoying the September sun. There are many new faces and it's a bit of a struggle sometimes to know who to talk to or what to do. He's found his way to the library, which is nice, although they lack books that would be found in the muggle world. But, on the other hand, they have a huge number of books that a muggle would never even lay their hands on.

Interacting with @Lancelot Pemberton
Cassian pulled his robes tighter around him. He had been living in London for the past three years and he still missed the sunshine and warmth of Arizona. He figured soon enough he’d have to pull out his winter clothes as the weather became colder. And school had only just begun a week ago! He didn’t want to imagine what December and January looked like.
He made his way across the courtyard, clutching his robes even tighter, trying to stay warm and not drop his bookbag all at the same time. He loved Hogwarts, chilly weather or not. The soaring spires, the winding staircases, the endless twists and turns of the corridors all seemed to call for exploration. The dark and musty dungeons, the enormous Great Hall, as well as he comfortable common room and dormitory. The library, the classrooms, the grounds; each provided a unique and specialized way of learning. He couldn’t imagine a better place to study magic. Not even Ilvermorny seemed as intriguing as Hogwarts.
Cassian swung his eyes around the courtyard, searching for people he knew. He recognized a few older Ravenclaws, called a greeting and kept walking, waving to a pair of Hufflepuff girls from one of his classes. On the edges of the courtyard, Cassian spotted a lone Ravenclaw boy. He was about Cassian’s height, but much scrawnier and smaller. Recognizing him instantly, Cassian searched for a name. He had several classes with the boy, sat at the same table in the Great Hall, and had seen him several times in the common room. And yet, Cassian couldn’t recall his name for the life of him. Nor did he think he had ever so much as smiled at the boy. Feeling friendly, and perhaps a bit guilty for not knowing the small boy, Cassian walked briskly up to him.
“Kinda chilly, isn’t it? The weather, I mean,” he said, in a friendly tone, hoping to start a conversation.

Possibly seeming even smaller, sitting on the ground, someone still notices Lance despite everything else going on. Not that much, perhaps, but more than by himself. He recognizes the boy coming up to himself from the last days. Lance isn't the one to put himself in the middle of attention and surely, they don't all know him more than his face, but he still notices much. He likes watching and putting all connections together.
The weather is what Clarke starts talking about. It's a common subject to talk about, for sure, considering how ever changing it is. One day sun, one day rain and nothing is perfect. Either it's too hot or too cold. He looks up at the other boy.
"Yeah. But we should enjoy it while it's not colder than this. It's only going to get worse."
It's not too bad, the weather, but one can only hope that the castle will stay a comfortable temperature when the outside gets cold so that they don't have to freeze every day. It's September - the cold will come quickly. He stands up and brushes some dirt of his robe. It's probably more comfortable speaking if they're not at as big of a height difference. Clarke seems nice, all what Lance has seen, but it's not easy to know who to talk to the first days when there are so many new faces.
