2023, Stage 3 Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 9

Pericles was right what WERE they playing at? This kind of strategy was odd, completely fustrating and a general irritant. She'd already beaten Galton once before why was this time so difficult? Then again Callie had not been especially lucky recently. For all her many lucky charms she still seemed to be firmly lacking in that department.Although the only real sign of her annoyance manifested in her tight grip of the wand. Otherwise she rocked gently back and forth on her feet.

Nicky didn't like that the duel didn't seem to be going anywhere but she was determined to keep going. At some point, they would land a proper hit, she was sure of it. She wanted to win, more badly than ever before, and her brave heart craved a fight.

Jake wasn't surprised that the Ravenclaws tried a different strategy this round - after all, their first one hadn't worked as well as they might have hoped. Pericles was able to make SOME of the fog go away, but on the Gryffindor side, Elsa had the opposite idea. Fog, smoke, all of it swirled together, making it even more impossible to see than before. Jake wasn't even sure he could see the duellists anymore as he squinted through all of the weather that had taken over the stage. Home in Wiltshire, Jake was used to fog, but nothing like THIS.

But somehow, Galton must have been in his element, because while all of the duellists struggled to see what was going on, Galton would hit the first blow of the match - a perfect wind jinx cutting through the smoke and hitting Callie on the Ravenclaw side! She would barely see it coming. How had he DONE that? (Or at least Jake THOUGHT he'd done that, it was a little hard to tell for sure).

But it seemed that this day of bad weather wasn't quite done yet.

Jake looked up nervously at the storm cloud that was forming above the Gryffindors - it was hard to see ANYTHING with all of the fog, but that one began to spark and hovered above the stage. This was only going to get worse....

Maybe the storm cloud wouldn't be able to see anybody either? Jake crossed his fingers.

This was the most progress they’d made the whole match. Don’t you doubt that dodging all the spells was progress enough, but this was a little sprinkle on top. They’d been able to score the first hit! Sure it took a little, but patience is a virtue. There was no need to be hasty. Galton’s (or maybe Mr. Wand’s) lust for constant action had bitten himself in the butt time enough.

Oh! How could he forget Mr. Wand. There conversation seemed to have leveled out, providing a nice success for the pair. It just took a some careful attention. Surely there was nothing that could rain on their parade.

And then the storm clouds rolled in.

Important Note: Hi everyone, it's come to my attention another mistake was made in the above moderation post. I canceled the entire Meteolojinx Recanto when Spell Spread failed - it should still in fact have hit the original targets. Please review the changes above, as the Gryffindor team is no longer under Nebulus.

Pericles was gripped by the unorthodox nature of the duel. Aside from a few instances of rotten luck, their opponent's strategy was strange and irksome. He was clearly not a fan of repeat deliberation, complaining quietly, voice near a whisper as he griped "Can't see a thing...." Smoke, fog, and a thunderstorm all over one piste. Their duel likely looked like one great big cloud to any onlookers. It thinned some on the Gryffindor side, but the Eagles were still struggling to punch through.
Action: As strategized.

Callie couldn’t help but wonder if she had dropped her glasses because quite frankly she couldn’t see a thing. She raised her hand quickly to double check her glasses were still there only to be irritated by the answer. Why on earth was she so unlucky? It had to be something she did in a past life. The question was what exactly had she done? Her current theory lay in some form of crime…theft maybe? Or many this was payback for her near constant verbal abuse to Thomas and Elias? The possibilities were endless.

Nicky stared at her opponents menacingly. She knew they could do this. Her and Galton. They had prepared well and had a brilliant strategy. Now all that was left was concentration and a fight for the win. And they could definitely make it to the win, there was no doubt about that.

Jake thought the Ravenclaw team seemed to be enjoying this duel just as little as HE was. It wasn't that he didn't think it was cool to see the Gryffindor's strategy - it WAS cool and interesting. But what he couldn't figure out was how he was supposed to do his job if he coudln't see! If only he was some kind of animagus like a bat. Then he could use sonar to tell what the heck was going on...

Callie attempted to shoot paralyzing spells into the fog to stop the Gryffindor team's bizarre strategy, but both of the spells would unfortunately pass by her opponents. It was hard to aim when you couldn't see. But then, like a miracle everything began to clear up. Pericles had cast another counter-spell, and the fog, the smoke, it was all beginning to lift. They could SEE again! Or at least some of them could...

For the very moment that the fog lifted, the next thing the Ravenclaws would see would be dual blindfold spells rocketing their way. Then the only thing they'd see was, well, nothing. Perhaps Pericles and Callie would miss the fog, because their vision would go entirely black. Jake had to marvel at Galton's skill - one blindfold was bad enough but TWO? And to make things worse, the storm cloud began to make its way back towards the Ravenclaw side of the platform. They might not be able to see it, but they might just hear it...crackling ominously.

Jake had never seen a duel like this one in his life. He was amazed and a bit nervous. What was going to happen NOW?
