Mellani entered the library for the first time in a long while. She still thought about the day when she got detention in the library. But she was over it now. Well, kinda. Her usual smile towards the librarian was missing as she simply went over to the 'History' section to find some books that she could use as reference for her homework. She finally chose two books and looked around for a place to sit and complete her homework.

As she looked, she noticed another girl sitting in a corner and reading. She knew she shouldn't sit near the other girl. She didn't want the Opal incident to happen again. However, for some reason, Mellani was compelled to go and sit close to the girl. Maybe because the other girl looked lonely. "Um... May I sit here?", Mellani asked the other girl. She didn't want to sit near the girl if the girl didn't want her to. She was fine with sitting somewhere else but she decided to ask her anyways. Maybe she would say yes. Maybe she wouldn't.

Mellani held the books and parchment in her hand, wondering if she had seen this girl before. Maybe in the common room? That would mean that this girl too was a Slytherin, wouldn't it?

"Um... May I sit here?" A girl says, Ara froze, her eyes widened, and she looked up. Ara gave a nod, a rather cold "Ok.", and a look up and down, On the inside, she was panicking and her brain pressed the red emergency 'Human' button but on the outside, she looked pissed...She has a resting face that makes her look like she's mad or something. As the girl sat near her though, Ara continued reading as if she wasn't there, she is good at that.

To be honest, Ara was confused about why the girl didn't sit at the tables for it looked like she was doing homework. The black-haired girl kept glancing at the girl who decided to sit with her. Ara was always curious and cautious about socialization. 'Fake friends are a thing...also is not having friends but who cares?' When the girl has her planned or forced friendships, arranged by her parents. She calls them 'acquaintances' rather than friends. Ara made occasional glances and side-eyes at the girl as both of them read. Ara was also confused about why she wanted to sit near her. 'There are many other corners in here.' She thought. But alas she kept on reading and now is almost down with the book.

Mellani tried not to wince at the cold tone of the other girl as she sat a short distance away. Mellani decided that she shouldn't disturb this girl and hence, didn't say anything else. The other girl looked... angry somehow. Mellani wasn't sure and decided to ignore it for now.

The other girl was doing a pretty good job of acting that Mellani didn't exist too. Mellani took out her parchment, opened one of the books she had taken and started writing, determined to earn an 'O'. She wasn't exactly sure why she wanted to earn an O. It wasn't like she had any parental pressure.

History was one of the few subjects she'd found interesting. Many times, she didn't even need any books to complete her homework. Copying from the books was somewhat a formality and a way to earn better grades for her because she oftentimes struggled with what words to use where and how to express her thoughts clearly.

Mellani caught the other girl throwing occasional glances at her. She wasn't sure why she'd chosen to sit here. The tables would be a better place to do her homework. However, something about this other girl had attracted her, besides the fact that Mellani wanted to sit as far away from the librarian as possible. Mellani caught herself throwing occasional glances at this girl too. She seemed lonely, but also didn't look like the kind of person who was willing to make friends. Maybe she was just scared. Maybe it was shyness. Mellani wished she knew.

Ara looked at the girl a bit longer than a glance. "Why'd you sit here?" She said with a straight face. "There are tables y'know? Why did you sit near me in this corner? Writing your History homework on the table is better anyways...so why sit here?" The ravenette realized that it sounded a bit passive-aggressive but she let it slide for a bit. Ara has a hunch that she was doing history homework since because when she did one of her occasional glaces/side-eyes, she saw that the girl was doing homework.

Ara isn't really used to reading or doing anything with someone near her who is not her sibling or family member, especially in her corner of peace. It just distracts her. The black-haired girl sighed after speaking as she went back to her book which is quite ironically about friendship. Ara still made side-eyes at the girl while waiting for her response. Her brain was still on high human alert though.

She can tell that the girl is kind. But the ravenette is always cautious and has some trust issues, which makes it hard for her to make friends. Ara actually enjoys her own company but sometimes it gets lonely and when that happens, she just gets her siblings or owls her cousins.

Mellani was startled by the questions that the other girl had. She got the impression that the other girl wished that she would get up and leave. Mellani decided to answer the girl's questions first though, then ask her if she really wanted Mellani to sit somewhere else.

"Well, to start off, I sat here because it was farthest away from the librarian and I wanted to sit in a place where he wouldn't be able to see, for reasons that I'm pretty sure you know, considering how the news seems to have spread in Slytherin. I'm fine with not using a table. It doesn't really make things all that easier or something. I could go sit somewhere else if that's what you want, though", Mellani said not unkindly. Feel free to state that your character knows that Mellani got into a fight in the library and got detention for it.

Mellani had to say, she herself was a bit distracted by the presence of someone else near her, and she kept glancing up from her homework to look at the other girl. Mellani kept having the creepy feeling that she was being watched every time that she felt the girls eyes on her. Maybe she should get up and leave, but she still felt something stopping her from doing it, although she wasn't entirely sure what it was.

Ara was quite content with her answer but not really on how it was delivered, but she just shrugged that off. "Oh...the fight...I remember." The ravenette says, a bit more tiredly than u usual but with the same unfazed face and monotone voice. "Sorry if you thought that was a bit aggressive earlier" Ara stood up and put her book back for she was already done, she just looked straight at the bookshelf after putting the book back. "But it was not really my intention to make it aggressive...Although its better to be on the table, I think I should leave you be"

And with that, she got her bag and walked to the other side of the library, at the fantasy section and scanned the shelf with her eyes until she found what she was looking for. Ara proceeded to sit down at a new corner, just like she said to. Leaving her be.

Ara got relaxed at the new space and started reading again. She had just finished a horror book and now is moving on to a fantasy one to 'lighten' the mood. 'I'm too tired for that' the girl thought. Ara sighed as she opened the book and began reading.

"Sorry it's occupied," Ara said with a fake smile that seemed real, she wanted to not repeat the same situation with the other girl so she now rejects this girl. The ravenette points at the girl in the corner she just moved from, "You can sit there with her. It's better there anyway. I should know." Ara went back to reading. She tried to focus on the book but she was still waiting for an answer or a sign that she'll sit at her old corner.

Ara didn't mean to seem aggressive at the girl who sat with her earlier. She was just asking but she knew that her tone said otherwise. The ravenette was planning to apologize a bit nicer but quickly turned down her own idea to avoid awkwardness. That thought was still on the back of her mind while she was reading though. Ara has problems with her tone, sometimes it seems passive-aggressive or just aggressive even if that was not her intention. It was one of her weaknesses. 'Why are so many people approaching me today? I'm not in the mood nor it is a day I want to talk with people' she thought. Ara just wanted to read in the library but it turned to this. Was it bad luck? Or just a bad day? She wondered.
