Plant Project Partners
With spring in full bloom, Mari was looking forward to getting outside to work on this project for Herbology with her fellow first year classmate Cicely. She took the opportunity of the two girls working together during their free time to change into a comfy oversized sweater and skirt matched with a pair of white sneakers. Knowing the two would have to sit in the grass and be working for a while she decided to bring a blanket to sit on. It's such a lovely day out today, perfect to work on this project.She thought as she threw the blanket down onto the ground and took a seat. Since she was a bit early she looked around as she waited for her partner to arrive, admiring the plants and trees that she could see. From the beginning of the year through now she had come to really love Herbology class, it was definitely becoming a favorite along with Charms. The girl she was working with, Cicely, she had seen in classes but hadn't gotten to speak too much to her outside of there so she was also looking forward to getting to know her more today too as they study some plants. While she waited she decided to open her book and read over the different species of plants they were going to study today, twirling her hair as she let the world around her fade away and just focused on the words and the sounds of nature.

Apparently , she was set some homework during Herbology. She wrote it down in her notebook somewhere.. but she just couldn’t find it. The last time she checked it was under her bed. She wasn’t listening to the professor either. She was doodling in her notebook. Now she regretted that.. but she was running super late, Mari had scheduled with cicely to do the homework out in the grounds. She just had to find that book! She took a whole fifteen minutes to find it, digging under her piles of books and parchment, finally finding it. she was relieved and quickly out on a jumper before rushing off down the stairs to the grounds.
The cold air took her by surprise as she walked outside. It was meant to be sunnier, but usually there were April showers. Would she have the time to go back and get a raincoat? Maybe not. She was probably keeping Mari waiting. It was actually quite a good day, the sun was shining weakly in the sky, the clouds dotted across and the big wind softened to a small breeze as she walked across the grassy path. As she neared, she saw Mari. Mari was quite interesting, she never knew her before and was excited to meet her. She was sitting on a blanket, opening a book and reading. She approached Mari, tugging her hair to a side. “Hey there!” she smiled, grinning as she looked down at her.
As she looked down, she noticed Mari had jet black hair, hazel eyes and a oversized jumper matching with a chic skirt. So far, she knew that Mari had a good fashion taste, cicely wasn’t really bothered with her own taste, she just put a random jumper on. She knew that Mari was a first year, and a Hufflepuff as she saw her robes. Hufflepuffs were usually nice so she hoped Mari was too. Mari had a great smile and she envied Mari’s ebony locks. She wished she didn’t have dead hair due to dyeing it a lot. Maybe she should ask someone who dyed their hair for tips…
“Sorry I’m kind of late.” cicely apologised as she crouched down, pulling her bag out and sliding her books out. “Ready to do the homework?” she asked, smiling.

Mari was so focused on the book in her hands that she almost didn't notice the girl come up to her. As she looked up at the girl she patted the empty spot for her to sit down. Cicely had long wavy black hair, similar to her own. She seems nice, I wonder if we have anything in common hobbies or interests wise. She thought to herself and smiled, closing the book. Mari nodded and placed the book by her side before picking up her notebook. "As ready as I'll ever be." She chuckled softly as she opened up to a blank page. "So, I believe we need to find different plants and write down what we have learned about them, right?" She asked the girl as she was pretty sure she understood the assignment but wanted to make sure before they begun.
Looking around she tried to see if there was any plants they could start with nearby their current spot. "What should we start with first? There are many species of plants we could write about, where to begin?" She asked the girl while also thinking about the different plants they had learned so far this year. Maybe the mandrake, or some Dittany, or even some Wormwood. Those might be good to start with. She thought to herself as she turned some pages in her notebook to look at her notes from their lessons. Her writing was very neat so she was able to flip through to find things she needed easily. "What do you think about starting with one of the more common ingredients for potions, Wormwood? Could be a good place to start, we could easily find some and write about it and the uses." She held up a page of notes and pointed to the spot in her notes that talked about Wormwood so Cicely could see.

She sat down at the spot next to Mari, a big grin in her mouth before she pulled a few strands out of her hair. Her pretty eyes scanned Mari up and down. Mari was breathtaking, she didn’t know how she didn’t notice such beauty in her, where was she the whole time? Didn’t she notice Mari’s glossy hair at all during herbology? Or her beautiful fluttering eyes in charms? She did not know how at all. She felt great envy for Mari, she looked so pretty, effortlessly as well.
She nodded, before blinking quickly. “Sorry I was zoning out.” she said with a chuckle. She hoped Mari didn’t think that she thought Mari was boring. Cicely studied the notebook Mari handed out and studied the neat notes, neat diagrams and nodded, smiling. She took out her book, with unstuck worksheets and ink splatters all over. She opened the book to reveal splotches of ink, doodles everywhere and unruly handwriting. She then tapped her chin, nodding. “Yeah. Why don’t we start with the mandrakes? I heard some grow near the lake.” she said thoughtfully, a hand to her lips.
She gave a nervous chuckle. “I’m… not the best at potions…” she chuckled, standing up. “I guess we can start with wormwood!” she smiled. “If you want.” she added, holding out a hand for Mari to take.
