Closed Friendship and a Guitar PV Linda Ramirez

─────Startled, Seven turned around to see a girl about their age. Apparently, she was named Linda and it was her guitar. Then she asked for Seven's name. She was smiling and seemed happy. Perhaps she thought they seemed like they'd make a good friend.

Introductions were hard. You would've thought Seven would be used to it after twelve years, but they weren't. Not really.

"My name's Seven," they mumbled before quickly answering her next question. "I don't know how to play any instrument. I just like music."

They had always wondered what it would be like to make such a beautiful sound, but they had never gotten into it. Now they wished they'd taken music lessons or something so they'd seem more interesting to Linda. But, no, Seven was just normal and boring - the only exception being their weird name, which hadn't even been their choice.

They stepped to the side, allowing Linda a clear path to the guitar. They didn't dare to touch it for fear that it would break right in front of her and their friendship would no longer be a possibility. It was a nice guitar. Not that Seven knew much about musical instruments, but they could tell that it was nice. At least, it looked nice.

─────"I... Yes. I'd like to learn how to play guitar."

Seven didn't mention how hard it seemed. All the different strings... It seemed like too much. However, it would be amazing to be able to play an instrument. Not that they were going to have anything to do with Linda's amazing guitar. It looked so polished.

They nodded. "Hogwarts is amazing. I love learning spells. Charms is my favorite class, but I enjoy all the other classes as well. I didn't grow up around magic-" Seven suddenly stopped talking, thought for a moment, then continued. "My mum's a witch. She went to Hogwarts and was a Hufflepuff. But my dad's a Muggle. The wizarding world wouldn't accept a Muggle into their community, even though my mum had already told him about magic. So they found a home in London, England in the midst of a ton of Muggles. Everyone I knew except for my mum was a Muggle. My friends, my other classmates, everyone. It wasn't bad at all, though. Muggles can't perform magic - although they do 'magic tricks', which is like fake magic - but they're still really nice."

Seven then had two thoughts. Firstly, they had talked way too much. Secondly, why were they explaining all this to someone who very much could be Muggle-born or half-blood? They wanted to ask what Linda's blood status was, but they were too nervous to bring it up.

─────"Yes. Tomorrow, then," Seven said awkwardly.

Inside, they were so excited. They were going to make a new friend and learn to play guitar. That was amazing. Of course, that would come with problems, but nothing was perfect, and oftentimes, the hardest things had the best rewards.

Seven nodded sadly as Linda spoke about hiding magic. "It must've been hard for my mum."

They didn't take the time to think about just how much both of their parents had given up for them. It wasn't a topic most children and/or teenagers considered because a lot of kids took what they had for granted, and it was easy to do so.

"I don't know how to do 'fake magic'. I've seen it before, that's all. Some Muggles do it for a job," Seven explained, though they were pretty sure that doing magic tricks didn't pay very well. "Speaking of jobs, your brother tames dragons and stuff for a living? That's epic."

Seven had never seen a dragon in real life. They couldn't believe that someone could get paid to work with dragons nearly every day. They made sure to put that on their future career list, which included being a Charms professor at Hogwarts and a professional keeper for a Quidditch team.

─────"I'm an only child. It seems so amazing to have a sibling as you do. Everyone's always talking about how overrated older and younger siblings are, but I don't know." Seven shrugged.

They decided that the next part of their thoughts shouldn't be spoken out loud since they might be judged for it.

Having a sibling was like having a lifelong friend. Maybe they'd be annoying and you'd fight, but that didn't mean it would be all bad. There would be good times as well. Where you helped each other with homework, injuries, relationships, anything. It would be worth it.

But, there was no use sulking about it. The closest thing to a brother or sister Seven was going to get was a best friend, which meant they had to work hard to make sure that happened. That could be difficult, but they were willing to do what it took.

Seven shook off all of those thoughts and continued to answer Linda's question. "My dad's an environmental lawyer. In the Muggle world, most lawyers get paid quite a bit, so my mum doesn't have to work. She did before, though. It was some boring Muggle job, but once I was born, she quit to take care of me and she never returned to her job."
