Alan was quite sure this was not how this round should have looked like. He imagined watching this duel at this moment was quite boring but there also was this odd tension and need to know, which duellist would manage to break free from their petrefication first. One would imagine it would be Aida who had been affected for the longest so far, but she remained a statue. It was no different to either Ruby or Delilah who also remained still as if frozen in time. That only left Dmitri and Alan had to suppress a sigh when he noticed him start to move and slowly break free from those unseen binds. Well perhaps that at least meant this duel was going somewhere now. Meanwhile the Metelojinx cloud just crackled with lightning, waiting for the right moment to strike.

The time Dmitri spent frozen, he was able to utilize to self-reflect upon his success. Three whole years of grueling work—taking duelists down one by one and never yielding even a single moment—brought him to where he was now... on the floor of the Dueling Club; petrified.
Building a reputation by himself solely through his own innate skill and hard work really set him apart from his Pureblood counterparts who could only dream of becoming who he already was—even with their generational wealth and nepotism.
Ah, I am so good, he'd think to himself.
For a person such as Dmitri, there really was no point trying to look back when you've been perfect then, and you're only more perfect now. So he didn't really spend quite a lot of time self-reflecting.
Shrugging off the paltry effects of the Ravenclaw's Petrificus, the Slytherin duelist climbed to his feet. "Well, that's enough of that. Back to our regularly-scheduled programming: Hitting Two Birds with One Spell."

Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 12
Whether it was luck or skill that allowed Dmitri to break free first was unclear, but Ruby had mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it meant he would be able to act, no longer frozen. On the other hand, it meant she was useless at a time when he wasn’t. She should be better. She was better than this, she should be up there with him. She struggled against the spell, mild frustration seeping in. While she appreciated Dmitri’s competence—she always had—as long as she was with him and he continued to perform so well, she would always be second best. She would have perhaps laughed at his comment had she not been immobilized, but it didn’t mean she wasn’t slightly bitter despite all her self-confidence.
Maybe she shouldn’t be so hard on herself. She was perfectly talented in her own right—especially considering she was a year younger—and being paired with Dmitri practically made them an unbeatable team. But going easy on herself would get her nowhere. She had to hold herself to a higher standard to keep growing, to ensure that she was better than most everyone else and had evidence to back up her self-confidence. She would be no one’s sidekick. Only an equal or superior. And that meant pushing herself and succeeding. She would have to up her game. Continuous growth. Failure was not an option.Doing as strategized

Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 12

Not only was the full body-bind curse the WORST for Aida's claustrophobia, but this cursed match seemed to just be a continuous stream of it. Had there ever been another duel like it during Aida's time at Hogwarts? Certainly this one would cause some sleeping problems for the rest of the week...

@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood | @Dmitri Jones | @Ruby CazaresAnother short time laying on the ground, out of the corner of her eye she saw dmitri get up, which would normally cause her some anxiety if it wasn't for the fact that he wasn't allowed to hit them while they were down, small mercies. Del just needed a little more time to figure out what to do, and then when she gets up she should hopefully be sorted out.

Finally things were moving along, literally, as all four duellists had broken out of their petrification one way or another. Dmitri had already been out of it and used the time to heal both himself and his team mate, which ultimately saved Ruby from further struggling without success. Both Delilah and Aida managed to overcome their spell, though the sixth year remained without her wand. What a shame. With just a few more rounds to go, could they truly turn this around still? Slytherin looked like they didn't even have a scrape. But Alan hoped they would remain confident.

Dmitri sighed in relief at the revitalizing effects of his spell, noting the same effect it had on the once-petrified Ruby. It wasn't like they were that injured, in the first place, but even the miniscule scrapes the Ravenclaws managed to inflict on them (albeit indirectly) was enough to irritate him.
"Let's get you back in the fight." He'd state matter-of-factly as he watched the opposing team also get back on their feet, one way or another. "And perfect timing, too."
Time was ticking and it became more and more apparent this was another Slytherin win.
As if there was any doubt, in the first place.

Aida continued to struggle. It had turned into a really slow match after its initial dumpster-fire opening, and at last it seemed like the bonds of the claustrophobe’s nightmare were coming to a natural end. How was it that other people were able to be so muscular? Perhaps it was something in that Hogwarts food Aida didn’t trust as far as they could throw it.

Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 12
Dmitri lifted the spell binding her, and Ruby was on her feet in an instant. His healing spell had not only released her from the Body-Bind Curse, but had taken the light aches from the duel thus far away too. The boost let her forget about the slight bitterness and disappointment that she had been thinking about a moment before. It was time to move on.
Dmitri made a comment about getting her back into the fight and she gave him an appreciative nod, a nonverbal response of neutral gratitude for his assistance and for the fact that no annoyance seemed present in his tone. "And perfect timing, too," he said. It was true—the Ravenclaws were also getting back on their feet and that meant that the brief timeout that the universal Body-Bind Curses had provided was coming to an end. She readied herself, making sure her mind was fully present. It was surely starting to get to the last moments of the duel, and now was an absolutely critical time to succeed.Doing as strategized

@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood | @Dmitri Jones | @Ruby CazaresBreaking out of her binds, Delilah hopped back up on her feet. It was a shame that Dmitri managed to heal them back up but hopefully they could fix that issue in time. This duel was going by a lot faster than Del had thought, and to be honest she was getting a bit tired, but two rounds laying on the floor did help a little bit
