Closed An Unexpected Encounter PV Linda Ramirez

“Thanks! No one has ever called me a fast learner in Art!” Josephine replied with a smile and a touch of pride in her voice. Is Linda purely encouraging me so I won’t feel too bad about myself, or does she really believe that I am good at drawing? Josephine wondered. But something tells her that the latter is more likely to be true. After all, encouragement usually has a limit, and as someone who’s great at drawing, Linda probably can’t be able to keep on praising her if she wasn’t doing a good job, even if she wanted to.

Something about herself? Her mind immediately went blank. There are so many things that she could possibly talk about, but none of them seems appropriate at this time. “Well, um… I’m a Ravenclaw first year, and I extremely love reading all sorts of books. I’m also quite interested in Wizard Chess, but I’m not very good at it yet.” I think that’s about enough? To be honest, she can’t think of anything else either.

Be friends? It’s going to be great, being friends with a person like Linda. However, Josephine has never been good at expressing her feelings, so telling someone who she has just met that she’s willing to be her friend is sort of hard for her. “Oh, um… Sure, I’d… love to be friends with you!”
She silently hoped that Linda won’t take her hesitation as not wanting to be friends with her. Why does my socializing skills have to be SO terrible?!

"I believe it's the matter if someone is really willing to teach or not, but look how great your sketch is. And it's just some time of our meeting, surely you are great and fast learner." Linda smiled sincerely looking at Josephine. How many times did she hear that she can't draw that now it's hard for her to trust otherwise?

"That's really wonderful. I am Gryffindor first year. I love reading,but I don't know anything about muggle books, cooking, playing guitar and piano, drawing and knitting. And I am opened to new hobbies always. About chess, I am playing good, but I'm not best at them. "
Linda smiled in encouraging way. She had a lot of hobbies. Not mentioning how much she adores garden and stars.

Linda looked at Josephine when asked about been friends. She saw in her eyes that Josephine wanted them to be friends just like Linda. That was enough. It doesn't matter how she said it, her eyes answered in the best way. Linda was happy about it. She felt they could become close long term friends and surely it's gonna be great friendship. She didn't know what to say else so she let Josephine to say or ask what she would want to ask.

Josephine is finally starting to change her mind about herself being terrible at Art. Maybe she wasn’t so awful, and the others were just making fun of her for some other reason? Actually, she suddenly realized that she had never even seen the drawings of the people who has once teased her. Perhaps they weren’t so good either! She thought, gaining some confidence in herself.

So Linda can play quite a few instruments? Personally, Josephine has never taken an interest in playing music, although she does enjoy listening to them and excels at remembering lyrics in most songs. “Cool! How does it feel to play the guitar and the piano? I’ve never tried it before.” She asked Linda curiously, meanwhile wondering whether she might take up another hobby in the future.

She turned her gaze back to the school grounds, and was once again amazed at how stunning it looks. “Do you often come here to draw? This place is absolutely amazing!” After all this time, Josephine was finally able to open up a bit more and chat with Linda more naturally. Maybe I’m on the way of forming a great friendship? She thought expectantly, hoping that she’d actually be able to make a real friend this time.

Linda noticed that with every second Josephine was trusting more that her drawing skills are great. It was nice. She could feel that Josephine now would be able to tell others that she can draw. She wondered for a second what would she say if she found someone been told they can't draw.

"It's really nice for me. Though I play guitar more. It helps me to express some feelings I would never explain by words. I created some melodies but only as hobby. And I play some songs as well for sure. Do you like music?" Linda smiled enthusiastically. She was dreaming while talking. What would be next melody?

It was helping to calm thoughts down. And how would she explain feeling lonely but with hope that no one will come and with happiness that she has great friends at the same time? Would be hard to do it through words, but through melody it's quite easy. It would make it simple for everyone who would listen.

"If weather is nice, most likely you will find me here. So, I guess yeah, I am here quite often. What about you?" Linda laughed a bit. Place was really awesome, but here was hard to find place with bad view.

As time went on, Josephine is gradually trusting Linda more and more, with the initial timidity almost completely gone, she finally relaxed totally and made up her mind to just say whatever that comes to her mind and see where the conversation will go eventually.

“Music? Sure, I love listening to music in my free time as well as reading.” Just then, she realized an interesting fact about herself — despite the fact that she has a reserved nature, the music she enjoys are usually lively and fast-beated. “You know what? Although I may seem introverted, I actually prefer fast-beat music, especially electronic music. I guess it’s a bit weird, isn’t it?” Josephine wondered what Linda will say. Would she give a possible explanation to this unusual phenomenon, or would she see her as a weird contradiction? Why am I even worrying so much? She forced herself to stop overthinking and just calm down and see how things turn out in the end.

Josephine was deeply impressed by Linda’s excellent choice of place, as this spot is definitely unbelievably suitable for sketching and drawing. “Great choice, this place is marvelous for drawing! As for me, I usually prefer staying in the Library and immersing myself in books for ages.”

"That's great. So we have one more hobby in common." Linda smiled. She already finished sketch and now was just enjoying time with Josephine. It was great to discover that they had something else to talk about.

"Oh that's cool. You know music is just something comforting, you never will hear it telling you something bad about you, unless you turn on such music, but with people you start to think how they will react and most likely expect something bad. So fast beat music that you are listening to, it's like who you are when you feel comfortable. Now when you seemed to relax more around me, I can't say you are introverted." Linda smiled warmly. She just felt like saying her opinion so she voiced it. Introverted girl and electronic music, Linda didn't find anything strange in it. She also liked fast beat music, but sometimes when she was tired she preferred some calm songs. "I'm kinda professional in photography, so I am usually choosing something nice whether it's for drawing or photo or just to relax. I like spending time in library too, but good weather is usually attractive enough to change library for outside." Linda smiled. Library. Back at home it was second place she could spend time in.

“Seems that being in different houses doesn’t really mean we have to be very different from each other after all. I used to think that I won’t be able to find common ground with students in other houses.” Just in these few hours she has spent together with Linda, she has already found out a lot of things that she was previously wrong about.

So she doesn’t think I’m a weirdo after all. Seems like I’m overthinking again… “So what’s your favorite type of music? Do you have a favorite song yet?” When she pondered this question herself, she realized that she can’t actually decide on which her favorite song is. In fact, she has a handful of favorites.

Photography might be interesting as well. Josephine thought. But she isn’t the artistic type, and learning to draw properly is more than enough for her, at least for now. “I usually prefer to read adventure novels, what about you?” Only now did she realize that a lot of her interests seem like an extravert’s. Usually introverts don’t like reading adventure novels, as far as she knows. Maybe she really can open up and be a more outgoing person like her housemates, but only when she found the right person though.

Linda thought about it for some time. Her favorite music was the one she created. "I like different types and I prefer the ones I create."

It was funny to think that different houses can't be friends. She had a lot of friends from every house here. She looked at Josephine and thought it would be great to just keep talking to this girl.

"I like fantasy and adventure. Actually I like a lot of different ones, but I don't like romance." She read already s lot of different books which felt like millions. She read almost whole home library and some part of Hogwarts' one.

Looking at the sky she started to think about her family. She had some biscuits and cupcakes in her trunk from her mom. She was also going to send her favorite tea to Linda soon.

Thinking about it now Linda realized she was hungry and started to think about how it would be better to go. She decided to make it quite simple.

"It was nice to spend some time with you here. I am waiting for owl from my mom, so I am going to go to owlery now."

After saying so she stood up and went to the castle.
