─────Seven had decided to get some fresh air. Although they loved the library, it could get a little stuffy there. So, they were walking by the Great Lake, watching the sun glint off the water, as they thought.

The schoolwork at Hogwarts was harder than Seven had expected. Astronomy wasn't their favorite. It didn't have much to do with magic. It was just drawing stars. And there were, like, millions of stars.

Seven sighed, and that was when they saw someone sitting next to a tree. She looked familiar. It didn't take long for them to realize who it was. Lizzi! They had met at the Ravenclaw table during dinner and were planning to meet up again sometime. That hadn't happened yet, but maybe Seven could walk over to Lizzi and greet her.

After a moment of considering it, they did. "Lizzi, hi!"

They smiled, hoping that she had heard and wasn't too busy. If Seven had just disrupted her studying, well, that wasn't a good way to start their second interaction.

As they looked closer, they saw parchment and books surrounding Lizzi. She had definitely been studying, and Seven had interrupted her. They should've pretended they didn't see her. Now she was going to be all angry - even if she was too nice to show it.

─────"I don't have anywhere better to be," Seven shrugged. "I mean, I'd be happy to sit down, talk, do homework with you, whatever. After all, we're friends."

The two were friends, right? Well, why would Lizzi ask if she didn't want to be friends? Seven hadn't made a mistake by calling them friends. They just needed to stop worrying. To be confident. Or at least to act confident.

Seven carefully walked closer to Lizzi and sat down next to her, their back leaning against the trunk of the tree. They hoped that action would be okay with her. It would. She had wanted them to sit by her so they could talk. She had said so, and they had a feeling Lizzi wouldn't lie. Not about that. She was way too kind.

Seven wished there was a device that told you how to act around others. What to do, how to make them enjoy your company, how to be popular. Why weren't people working on that invention? Lots of kids - and adults - would buy it. Maybe it was too hard to create. Or perhaps it wouldn't work in quite the right way. Well, whatever the reason was, Seven didn't have anyone to tell them what to say.

─────Seven was also happy that the two were officially friends. They hoped that would make things less complicated.

They watched as Lizzi organized their things around them. It was almost peaceful, seeing how precise she was being with each book.

After she was finished, they replied, "I've only done my Transfiguration and Charms homework. I feel like I should already be done or something since I'm a Ravenclaw, but I'm just not up to it. Although, I'm sure I'll actually have fun with homework if I'm doing it with you."

Seven had a book bag slung over one shoulder, and they took it off to reach inside and grab some supplies for homework.

They then laid it all out in front of them. A few pieces of parchment stacked one on top of the other, a bottle nearly full of black in with a quill rested beside it, and a couple of books - one entirely dedicated to magical fungi.

"Right, um, where should we start?"

They hadn't ever had a homework buddy at Hogwarts, so this was a new experience. Seven wasn't sure about if one of them should just take the lead or if they could split up the homework into different parts...

─────After Lizzi had shared a simple plan for the Herbology homework, Seven skimmed the problems. The last two questions, four and five, were harder than the others, but it only seemed fair since Lizzi would be doing more problems than they would.

"I'll do four and five," Seven agreed.

Lizzi had already started working on the first problem, and they realized that they would have to begin quickly so Lizzi wouldn't have to wait.

Speaking of that, Seven was glad their new friend wasn't the type who made everyone else do the work for them. Whenever that happened, Seven would do the work - as to not get a bad grade - but they didn't like it. This had occurred multiple times at their previous school, though it was a Muggle school. Nothing like that had happened at Hogwarts yet, which was another pro for the school of witchcraft and wizardry. However, it was still a possibility that someone might ask to copy Seven's homework or whatnot, so they weren't going to raise their hopes with that yet.

Anyways, the point was that Lizzi wasn't afraid of doing her fair share of work - even when Seven would be kind of okay if they had to do the whole thing themself.

─────Seven began to work on the fourth problem of their Herbology homework. It wasn't incredibly hard or anything, but they were kind of dreading the fifth question. It looked difficult.

After a minute - more or less - Lizzi spoke.

Aparently she thought it was boring? Maybe the two of them working on homework together wasn't the most exciting thing, but there was a certain peacefullness to it. Still, if Lizzi wanted to do something else, Seven wasn't going to oppose her. They didn't want to ruin this new friendship. Especially since she was right when she said that it was a nice day.

"We... We can go on a walk or something," Seven didn't sound very sure of their suggestion.

They didn't know when this slight lack of self esteem had started but they were always worrying about what others would think. For example, who goes on walks anymore? That has to be more boring than homework. That wasn't Seven's opinion, but they assumed that's what others thought about it.

However, Lizzi was kind of different from other people. She was kind and funny. She and Seven seemed to have quite a bit in common. That was why they were so hesitant to lose her friendship.
