Maya, still holding onto his ear, listened to him the best she could between the sobs. The fact that he was sobbing so loudly made her let go of his ear. She had never seen him like this. Perhaps her assumption of being drunk to get closer to women was not what was happening.

Stepping back from Sebastian, she saw Sorrel Wright ask the house elves for a nurse and the potion's professor. Crossing her arms, she looked at Sebastian a different way. Maya felt bad for him. She knew that he had disappeared from the castle for a long while, but she did not think that anything serious would happen to him when he came back. If he was mentioning that he was drugged, then she wondered by who? Where was he before here? What did he drink? Eat?

It seemed as though the house elf did not have to go far to find the potions professor as he was already entered in the room. He had gone up to Sebastian and was taking care of him the best of his ability as a Potion's Master. She stood in silence, watching everything happen. She even looked around to the other professors seeing how they are seeing this event. There was something wrong-- something off, but Maya could not put her finger on it. How was it, a simple gathering such as this was now filled with such mayhem. Someone must have known something.

Again, she stood away from the scene and watched, secretly hoping that Sebastian Cazarez was going to be fine and remember all that he had done before coming to the kitchen.

Sorry this one is going to be short ;-; I'm trying to catch up to stuff, and now there's uber speed going on in here.

He looked at the little blind girl that had done her level best to try and roast him and smiled oddly.

"You know, with a bit more... insults. I'm sure you could be insulting some day. Keep up the training, never give up. I'm sure you'll be hated one day. By... someone.

But for now, you're just annoying, and just a little bit cringey. Work on that."

He wordlessly glared at the fat lion man, temporary decent mood vanished when he realized that the annoying woman wasn't, in fact, going to be handing out booze, and that there wasn't any point to him being nice to her at all, and he didn't even like lemonade. The way the fat lion man paraded it around like a muggle delicacy made him sick to his stomach. It was some fruit, sugar and water. Sometimes not even that, but a sickly sweet powder small fat muggle children poured into their water.

When the drunk man stumbled in, obviously hurt and needing assistance, the Professor knew just what to do.

"Screw this, I'm out."

And then he left the room, making a beeline for the door, completely unphased by the possibly dying man on the floor. It was none of his problem, he was Professor of Care of magical Creatures, not some nurse that tended to stupid drunkards.

BonBon was starting to miss retirement. When he took the job at Hogwarts, he was expecting a rather slow administrative position. Yes, there was an incident with a mask relating to dark magic, but that was mostly a matter for the Aurors. His task was to maintain a stable school environment so children could learn in peace. Of course, he and the other heads would help the authorities catch the one responsible and they could go back to actually running a school. The head of Hufflepuff was only trying to get to know these new professors and hopefully make new allies in this strange land.

That was before a drunk man broke into the kitchen.

Staff members started gathering around him to determine what happened. The victim had recounted that he had been drugged in addition to being drunk. The potions master acted quickly and forcefully delivered an antidote of sorts to the drunkard. BonBon was concerned about the circumstances, but moreso when Maya, one of the longest tenured members of the staff changed from berating the victim to worrying from the sidelines. She seemed to know the man; perhaps she had a clue as to what happened.

“Professor Galim, was it?” BonBon inquired, only knowing of her from the records in his office. “Do you know this man? I’m assuming he works here in some capacity.”

Out of the corner of his eye, the old professor saw Morfran leave without batting an eye at the scene. Perhaps if the drunkard was a magic ape whose beard could be turned to a wand core, then the COMC professor would have been a bit more caring. As it stood, this new recruit was not much of a team player to his fellow man. BonBon sincerely hoped that he never required animal knowledge in the near future.

Within a matter of moments, she had found a small cauldron, set it alight and added water to boil. She had already located some loose leaf tea to chuck it. Of course she could have used a kettle but that was far too easy. She was trying to keep herself distracted. Besides, her grandmother made tea this way and it was a nice way to remember her. Well, sort of. She made it in a pot on a stove, rather than in a cauldron because her grandmother was also a muggle. Hjørdis was successfully distracting herself by making tea and moving around the kitchen to find all of the ingredients she needed for it.

At least, tea was the distraction until the drunkard appeared. Eurgh. She honestly had no patience for someone who couldn't hold their liqueur. Her worry was that this random man was a professor - what a terrible influence to have around young children? Immediately, the sisters went to his assistance. Hjørdis just stayed back, allowing them to handle the drunk man as she had no intention of doing anything. At most, she could throw water in his face but given that she was standing next to boiling water, it was probably not the best idea for her to get involved. She was not a patient woman, after all.

Shortly after, additional ladies appeared. One woman scolded the drunk man. Hjørdis had no idea who she was but she was a little amused by the whole scene. Another lady appeared, addressing the drunkard by the name of 'Sebastian'. They both seemed to know him well enough, likely the three were among the handful of professors that weren't actually new. The Slytherin female almost rolled her eyes when he claimed not to be drunk, stopping only when she heard the words 'drugged'. A frown crossed her face. Drugged?!

In her former line of work, being drugged or poisoned in some way was not a surprise at all. People sort of expected it. It was actually a shock if you went your whole career without it. But this was a school. A school that housed mostly children under eighteen and a handful of adults. Who and what would look to poison a professor here?

One of the professors asked for someone to summon the potions master and a nurse. It was almost like she did not even know who the famous potioneer in the room was. Okay, well most people did not know. Hjørdis was clearly just a potion nerd. However, she was also very new to the school and could not - for the life of her - guarantee she could find a nurse and return promptly. The kitchens was not far from her quarters in the dungeon. She had managed to work out the best way to get there and back so far but she was still very new to the school. She did not study here. Volunteering to find a healer in this way with secret passages and moving staircases sounded like a terrible idea. There were people better placed for that. Perhaps an Hogwarts graduate or an older professor.

Instead Hjørdis sighed and stepped forward, "I may not be able to fetch a nurse but I can offer to have a look at him," She replied. Her speciality was healing magic, after all. Although she had no desire to use it on a drunkard, she would assist someone who was forcibly poisoned. Before she examined him, however, she watched as the new potions master stepped forward and attempted to force the man to drink the small vial he had pulled out.

She paused, waiting to see the effects of the potion on the man they called Sebastian. Glancing over her shoulder briefly, she checked her tea. It was still brewing properly. Let's be fair, her priority was now her tea. She trusted the potions master's skill enough to leave that to him. As she did, she noticed the grumpy man leaving as he grumbled about something or another.

Hjørdis could not help but roll her eyes. This school certainly housed a bunch of unique and odd creatures - and she wasn't even talking about the magical ones in the grounds.

Elena did the sensible thing: she watched. At first it was only the lion-mane trying to take away the alcohol, which was utterly ridiculous considering that most of them were grown adults – at least she thought it was, until suddenly a disheveled man stumbled into the middle of their group, so obviously piss drunk that there was no way to ignore his presence. He was not only a mess but also conveniently lost consciousness moments after he'd walked in, babbling something that had passed any understandable language many shots of vodka ago.

He was however not the first men she had seen lose in a fight with his booze, nor would he be the last. Professor Aoi immediately rushed to his side, concerned it seemed, agitating her sister in the process, though that could as well have been from the fact that the young Professor couldn't actually see that the drunk was alright – or as alright as one could be in his state.

The sneering male Professor, whose name she still hadn't learnt, choose exactly that moment to storm out. She wondered if he was fit for the job, considering that one argument and a drunk were enough to drive him off.

A soft sigh drew Elena's attention towards a woman who must have walked into the scene just then. She stood out with her red scarf as much as young Professor Lian with her blindfold, but the way she rolled her eyes when she looked at the drunk whoever-he-was made clear that this wasn't too far out of the norm for Hogwarts, or that particular man in any case. The new Professor of Dark Arts didn't exactly approve of how she grabbed him by his ear, but the lady appeared in control of the situation, something that couldn't be said for most of the other.

Still, Elena watched. She watched as another woman swept in, beautiful with her dark coppery skin and short hair and – giving substance to her assumption that this situation was indeed nothing new – joined in berating the bawling man on the stone floor. He was a truly pitiful sight to behold, but thankfully there was potions master in attendance… which was good, since he did look drugged more than drunk by now. Even then however, she could feel nothing else wrong with him. No obvious taint of dark magic, no wounds that weren't self-inflicted, no stench of any magical creature or dark being on the man.

She was honestly surprised when Professor Jensen offered to have a look at the drugged man. Did she possess healing magic? How intriguing. This wasn't something she had expected.

Elena prepared to watch some more.

From under the collar of her high-necked dress a dark shadow began to creep up her neck until it was resting under her chin, hidden by the flickering light of the Kitchens. Two pitch-black eyes stared at the scene, the beak of what might be a raven opening slightly as it, too, watched the proceedings.

Maya watched as they were taking care of the man who she had known far too well from working last year. Her mind was still racing with questions. How could this come to be? Where did he go before he was here? She felt as though it was a murder investigation without the murder. Although she was always annoyed with Sebastian and his ways, she felt there a need to find the culprit.

A Professor interrupted her thoughts and Maya, with her arms crossed, looked at him with her brown eyes. He was different than the other professors. He seemed much more cordial and understanding than others that she had met. In response to his aura, she nodded. "Meet Sebastian Cazarez. He was Deputy Headmaster of this school," she answered him showing no trace of emotion.

As she was answering, however, there was another professor that walked out of the room quickly. She wondered who that was and why he had left so abruptly. Did he have something to do with it? One thing she's learned, especially when serving in the army, was to trust no one but yourself. Just because Hogwarts was considered a safe space does not mean it is actually safe. To her, it only means that someone is trying to make it that way.

Although Maya did not up and jump during these situations, she did care for the drunken man on the table. She really had never seen him sob the way he did to her. It was excruciating to see a grown man cry. But typically, when they do, they have reason for it. She only hoped that after the professors deal with his condition, he would be able to remember everything that he had done that day in detail. It was the only way to solve the mystery... Unless he already knew.

Despite being the first to really take action, Aoi wasn’t offended that she ended up doing nothing. She had considered used Reparifors on the man, but with a Potions Professor on hand, it was pointless. The potion would be more effective than her spell, so she would have to trust it to their newest brewmaster. However, Aoi could help Cy, who was always quick to assist. That’s why Aoi adored her sister so. Nothing and no one would stop her from assisting Aoi in her endeavors or Cy’s own.

Aoi had no problem with her sister’s blindness. It wasn’t as much of an impediment as many made it out to be, and Cy was more than capable of incredible things. As far as Aoi was concerned, her sister had superpowers. Beyond the powers all Wizards possessed. And a little patience and teamwork would make up everything in between.

“It a man Cy. He looks drunk, injured slightly.” She was watching as another Professor raised the man by his ear, and blanched as he began sobbing. It wasn’t pretty. “Pinpoint as always Cy. Wand dropped indeed.”

The potions Professor was quick to handle the situation, and Aoi backed off, allowing those more familiar to handle the happening. She stood next to Cy, observing the events with a noticeable interest. This hadn’t been what she was expecting for the night. Quite the interesting wrinkle in the story. Professor Griffith exited the room, and Aoi became lost in thought.

Why are so many odd things happening at once? Why so much happening at this school specifically? The options and variables were too many to narrow down at the moment. She'd need to gather more information at a better time. But some options seemed better than others.  Throwing Hogwarts off balance often put the Ministry under pressure. Was that a goal? Her mind was racing, and she missed many other things going on around her. Including the man's name and title.  The woman would require sleep soon.

Sometimes, making the wrong choice is better than making no choice. You have the courage to go forward, that is rare.

Bryony seemed to be late, okay, she was late, but for the purposes of her being very stubborn, she seemed to be late, as of course, everybody else was simply  early. As she descended the steps to the kitchens she couldn't hear that quite the ruckus was going on. She opened the door slowly to reveal the ruckus, and just saw professors, "Oh my lord, you would think there were a batch of toddlers running rampant with the sound coming from here."

As the woman looked closer, everybody seemed somewhat stressed, except for one man, who seemed to be practically keeled over, "Now what the blinking bats is going on here?" If you were to ask Bryony where she got her statements such as 'blinking bats', she wouldn't be able to reply, as they really made no sense. Bry was very confused, possibly even perplexed.

"Are you alright son?" She asked to the man who seemed to just be crying, he obviously wasn't alright but there was a man seemingly forcing him to drink a potion. Once again Bryony opened her mouth the speak, but she quickly shut it again, deciding not to comment.

She made her way to a table that had food on it and leaned on it, deciding not to say or ask anything further that might result in an answer more complicated than the original question at hand.

"Wait."

Cypresse's voice rang out, sharp and penetrating. Someone had once described it as orotund, but she disagreed - her tone was just a little too harsh to be called full, a little too keen to be addressed as round. But it certainly did command attention in its own fashion; enough, at least, to impart her following words upon whomever looked up for half a second.

It was too loud, too chaotic, too much. She couldn't register a thing; her senses were dampened in what had turned from individual voices to white noise. At the very least, it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to distinguish the slight, tiny noises that made her perception so valuable in the first place - the loss of her capability put her on edge. It always had.

There was something many of them seemed to be overlooking - a single word he had uttered had given it away, and although it could be a simple slur in language, her mind caught and snagged on it like a briar in hay. “Drugged, not on drugs. And - will an antidote to intoxication, if that is whatever the glass contains, do it?” she broke off from her sentence quite abruptly, turning toward where she had last heard the voice of the apparent Potions Master. “I’m no expert, but if he’s been drugged as in sedated or something of that ilk, there must be a different antidote, right?”

In fact, that would explain everything except the fact that he was drunk. Why would someone drug a victim, only to feed him alcohol? The only reason for that would be if intoxication was meant to incapacitate the mind, and even then, sedation should be enough. Either way, both had been administered to the Spaniard, and it was not a pretty sight.

Her mind teemed with possibilities of what had happened. It was times like this that she resented the loss of her sight - even with Aoi’s help, there were details that she might have caught that her sister could not. Then again, Aoi was an eye trained well as any could be. “What injuries? Specifics,” the young woman asked in a softer tone, briefly touching the Japanese witch’s arm to signify who she was speaking to again.

Perhaps the best source of information would be from this Cazarez himself, but in his incapacitated state, he might not be the best source of information. Moreover, even when his mind came to, if most recent events had occurred while he’d been drunk and drugged, then there would probably be spots in his memory - ones that might be patched using the injuries on him now, before they were healed… before anything else changed the scene. Magic could, of course, be used to bring back the evidence, but magic was risky - a professor of Transfiguration should be expected to know that. There were spells to grant her temporary sight, but all came at a price. No magic was perfect.

She heard footsteps behind her that sounded with heaviness - someone had left the scene; who, she did not waste time on deducing. Whomever it was, she could not blame him or her. Such an appearance was enough to spook any wizard; in fact, it was likely intelligent to remove oneself from such a position before involvement wanted after sacrifice.

Clearly, he had been away - clearly, she was not the only one who registered the fact that he was not simply on drugs but drugged. But why, why? With what had he been poisoned? And by who? One question followed another, rapidly growing in complexity before she shut them all out completely to avoid being overloaded.

The new woman, another new voice she needed to catalog, had uttered an exclamation in a tone that suggested a dawning realization - in Spanish, too. There was likely more going on here than the new professors were aware of, and she herself could get nowhere without gaining such knowledge.

So, instead, she turned toward the accented, quite aggressive voice that had identified the man. “Why former?” Cy questioned, curious. There was no guarantee that the answer would get her any viable information, but it was good to know nonetheless. “And… where did you just come from?” she continued, directing the question toward the man himself. She had held off on directing anything at him, in his present state, but it was unlikely that anyone but him knew - and that, she knew, was more of a valuable piece of information than the prior question.

Standing by the wall, watching everything happening was as though Maya was watching it on television. It was a soap opera at its best with people helping him to consciousness, professors leaving the scene because they've had enough of it, or her favorite: professors walking into the scene and wondering what the bloody hell was going on.

Professors that Maya had never met before were coming in and wondering what was wrong with the drunken man on the table. Professor Anton, a potions master, was in the process of taking care of Sebastian. If it were her in his place, she would be annoyed with the amount of disruptions from other people.

Watching intensively at the situation, her focus was broken by a professor who she had never met before. She had wanted to know why he was the former Deputy Headmaster. With as much honesty, it was not her place to talk about another's background. Maya, who had an extensive background herself, would not like it if someone went around and shared it with others. She believed to each their own business.

"That is not a question for me to answer. It is a question for him," she said, looking at Sebastian, weak on the table. Deep, deep down, Maya did hope that he would be healed soon for she would like to know where he was prior to being here.
