2023, Stage 3 Hufflepuff vs. Slytherin: Match 2

Yet another round of the Hufflepuff barely doing anything and let the two of the Slytherins spell be aimed at them without resistance. The girl are just simply bewildered whether they are just too intimidated with herself and Leveret or they really just giving up without a fight. Which also confuses her whether to feel insulted or flattered. But she could see her partner’s reaction is clear, he looks furious. She would too if her first official duel turns out to be a pointless battle. But it is indeed her third duel of the season, and if she’s being honest, she was already a little bit tired of getting patched up in the hospital wing. So, a win is still a win.

“Perhaps, if you two are too scared to be here, you know the option to forfeit are still on the table right?” The white haired sneer.

“But of course, I do not mind keeping you two as my personal target practice.” Pea winks at the Hufflepuffs, going back to her dueling stance.

Well, now I've really done it, and I'm done for. I froze, just standing there. What had happened to me? What had happened to make me look like a deer caught in headlights? Now I've gone and ended up like Nessie, though I did wonder if she was okay. However, I knew that I was fighting a losing battle here, and I haven't even cast a single spell!

However, when the white-haired Slytherin cast a spell at me, at least I was awake enough to dodge it. And then the idiot Slytherin boy had the audacity to Flipendo me! Again! That was what really got me riled up. I gritted my teeth and felt myself going as red as a tomato. I was going to get them back for this.

I would. I could feel my heart beating quickly in my chest. Had I gotten cold feet? No. I was not going to let that stop me, not at all.

Or, I would lose. But, it looked like I was going to lose anyway, so why not go down fighting like a Hufflepuff would, and should?

Nessie was still lost in her own world for this duel, but at least Aurora had snapped out of her daydream for this round. Honestly, it was quite unfortunate for the poor Hufflepuff to have to fend for herself this duel, considering her teammate had decided to just stand there and look pretty. This round, she had decided to cast the Smokescreen Spell on the piste, clouding all of them in thick smoke and making it rather hard to see. A rather useful spell, but the lack of vision was also quite annoying. Though, that was the point of the spell.

Pea would once again cast Incendio Duo at Aurora, and this time it would be a success. The flames would quickly spread across the Hufflepuff's robes, the spell a stronger and more powerful version than the normal Incendio. It was a most painful experience indeed, and not one Adelaide, or anyone sane, would enjoy. Avery would show no signs of remorse towards Aurora, as he once again casted Flipendo at her, and it hit again. This was definitely not a pleasant round for the Hufflepuff, and hopefully her teammate would wake up soon because it didn't look like Aurora was doing too well. This duel might be a very short duel indeed.

	----- T he deadly duo of snakes were both skilled and spiteful. Their jeers weren’t wasted, at least on one of their opponents. Seemingly, Aurora had mustered the courage to engage in the duel and by the looks of it they had finally struck a nerve; as she reeled from yet another well-placed flipendo. He wasn’t the most powerful wizard, yet, but he had learned to value consistency over force this past year. Before Aurora could cast, he and Pea struck in unison; both with deadly aim; as Aurora completed casting the smokescreen spell. “Nicely done, Ms.Fowl.” He gave as the smoke engulfed them. Preemptively, he moved the hand that was behind his back to his face, to cover his mouth from the assault on his senses. Even then, he coughed the initial thick fumes from his airways and tried to concentrate.. This was going to be hard. He knew Aurora had been pushed to the edge; so he would focus on her instead of Nessie; like a shark in the murky depths that had smelt the blood of prey. He turned dark eyes through the smoke, looking for discoloration, a shadow; a sign of Pea’s lingering flame. “Opting for an adagio then, let’s see…” His cold voice spoke through the smoke. Intimidation was often classless but it was fun and deserved, he felt. Pity wasn’t a quality Avery could muster, not now anyway. Perhaps with a little luck, they would deliver unto Aurora and Nessie a lesson, and unto Slytherin; a victory sooner than thought.

From the look of it- the Hufflepuffs are only delaying this duel. Which she did not mind~ she have given them the choice to forfeit or keep going, and for the look of it, Aurora still refuse to give up, while Nessie are still on her own world. Although it is a little tedious, but again, it is a good target practice. Incendio duo fly from her wand, aimed straight at the younger Hufflepuff. This time, Aurora was just a little too slow to evade her coming attack and the fire spell hits her hard. A smile of satisfaction splayed in the young Slytherin’s face. And yadda yadda her partner also got another hit. She wasn’t going to admit it, but Leveret is pretty good at targeting his opponent.

Right now, I was wondering if this would be my first and last duel. Or if it would be my worst duel. If it was my worst duel, that was alright, since surely nobody can go this low. With my partner still trapped as a statue, I was trying to take matters into my own hands, but how? The Slytherins were showing no mercy. The white-haired Slytherin had tried to set me on fire(again), and she succeeded this time, and then that awful 1st-year Flipendoe'd me for the 3rd time in a row. Were these the only spells they knew? I resisted asking them that because I might be pushing my luck of staying upright and tempting them. I'd sure get those Sneks back for that one, I would.

Honestly, Adelaide was getting quite tired of Hufflepuff thinking that this duel was just a time to chill. Nessie had not made a single movement this entire duel, and Aurora had seemingly given up, either her reaction time too slow or morale too low, she failed to cast any spell this round, which was honestly just giving the Slytherins an automatic win, in Adelaide's opinion. Although, it didn't seem to be such a good round for the snakes either.

Aurora was still aflame from Pea's previous Incendio Duo, but it seemed Pea's Incendio this round would not go as well. For whatever reason, her aim was so terribly off that the spell had instead went towards her teammate Avery, who had luckily managed to dodge it in time. It also didn't seem to be Avery's round either, for he would also attempt to cast Incendio at Aurora, and his aim was also horribly off that it went towards Pea instead. At least she had managed to dodge it, but Adelaide honestly couldn't believe the odds that both teammates had managed to critically miss their Incendios.

Despite having no spells hit her this round, it appears the flames were too much for Aurora, and she dropped unconscious. Adelaide raised her hand, "Stop the duel!" She waited for Aurora to be carried off before assessing the situation. Considering Nessie hadn't bothered to participate in this duel at all, and it seemed highly unlikely that she would participate, it seemed there was only one thing left to do. "Well, congratulations to Slytherin, I suppose! This duel was certainly... something, but Nessie doesn't exactly seem as if she's going to cast a spell any time soon, so I think it's safe to say that the snakes won this duel." Adelaide was really unsure how to feel about this duel, but the Slytherins would probably be happy that they achieved a very easy win.

Since Nessie has not posted in the duel and Aurora has KOed, a forced forfeit has occurred and Slytherin wins the duel.

	----- A spectacular failure. A forced forfeit. That was to be how his first duel ended. To think that all he had worked towards had come to this was a harrowing thought. It sickened him, his very body was violently shaking, his knees were going; as they often did for those that would go onto stage and perform. This was a performance alright, one that belonged in a circus, and he was sure that those in the gallery had plenty to remark about. He was the most consistent caster of the duel, easily, but that was not a hard achievement. A win was a win on paper, but to him this was a total, and devastating defeat; one that made him seethe. Naturally, the grip of his wand tightened firmly as Adelaide gave the call. It was the right thing to do, but a small part of him wanted to hurl spells at Nessie anyway. Perhaps that should be acceptable, he thought. Stepping onto the piste was an honour and privilege, one that he wokred hard for. There would be a next time, surely, but this wasn't the propelling victory he had hoped for; the decisive and cutting strikes he had practiced, though admittedly the pressure of a crowd got to him. He wondered what they all thought, if the caught his pathetic missfire right at the end that only narrowly avoided Pea. Oh well, she had done similar to him near the start of the duel. - Hopefully they were all focused on Nessie to overlook his embarrassment. With the shake of his head, he slotted his wand into his sleeve-sheathe. Silently furious as he collected himself well enough to nod curtly at Adelaide, beginning his exit of the piste; waiting on Pea, of course. "Apologies, Miss Fowl. Less than adequate, but a win. - You were a delight, perhaps we'll get a worthy rematch in the future, and I can properly suss you out..." He gave, hiding his anger that he would take out on a tree somewhere. His ebony eyes flicking over her, before they flicked over the bleachers of students once again, where Caoimhe, Ava, Alora and June were noted. The embarassment stung more than any hit would have, if he'd have been hit...
