CL Velius felt alienated, wizards are odd people open

The moment Velius stepped onto platform 93/4 he was overwhelmed by the sight. Hundreds of wizards and witches scurrying after countless little children, parents crying, kids arguing, magical pets flying and running around, the steam of the giant red train engine hissing above them all.
Velius has rarely ever been to places like this. Places that were only for wizards. His parents lived a quiet live, apart from wizarding conventions and always had lots of Muggle friends. To make it easier to hide, they adapted to the Muggle identity and Magic was rather rarely used in their every-day live.
Even Velius' father, who works in the Ministry of Magic, was a changed man after stepping into their flat. He could be confused with a Muggle.
Therefore receiving the Hogwarts letter was not exactly something Velius had looked forward to. He saw it as a burden to have to leave all of his Muggle friends behind for Magical education, something his father was nevertheless very strict about. And even his mother encouraged him to go, after all, she married a Wizard.
But now he was right in the middle of it. In the middle of this mess. It was odd to have such an outsider perspective of a Muggle knowing person. Velius found it hard to imagine to be part of this society. He felt alienated. And numb as if he didn't realise what he was doing yet.
After a short goodbye he found himself an empty compartment, something he didn't complain about. Hopefully he would find some normal people, if that was even possible. But there had to be Muggleborns somewhere or at least people who weren't as ignorant towards the rest of the world as many uniformed wizards were, right?
