Monica's eyes blinked open. The crust from the nights sleep lingered on her eyelids. Tilting her head she gazed around the room, rubbing her eyes, allowing herself to wake up. That is right, she was at an estate. Not just any estate, the estate of a woman, of a family line Monica was now apart of. Or had always been apart of?

Monica's limbs were heavy, she didn't sit up, only lay where she was, her mind racing. The room was nice, easily double the size of her room back at her parents. Maybe the size of the dorms at Hogwarts, but all this space was for one person. Taking a breath she sat up, seeing her small trunk in the corner of the room. It seemed so small, and pathetic for the type of room she was in.

Kiwi began to stir, the little rat had found a corner of the king sized bed to nuzzle in, she stretched and yawned, sniffing about at her new surroundings, before she scurried over to Monicas, climbing up her torso to claim her spot on the girls shoulder. Monica scratched the small rodents head, before she finally decided to get up. Her feet hit the laminated floor, it was cool to the touch, but Monica slept so warmly that she welcomed the icy floor.

After some deliberation, she had picked out her outfit for the day, and in no time there was a knock at her door. Monica froze, like a deer in the headlights, "Miss Evans?" the voice from beyond the door echoed in the room, "Breakfast is ready." At the mention of it, Monica's nose was filled with the smell of eggs and sausages. Something she hadn't had for a long time. It engulf the room, causing Monica's mouth to water, before she realized the voice still lingered at the door. "Y-yes." Monica responded, not knowing how else to respond.

There was a moment, then the voice spoke again, "May I enter?" Enter? thought Monica, why on earth? But she answered quicker than pondered, "sure." she said with little certainty.

The door creaked open, and a man dressed in a fine black suit, holding a silver tray made his way into the room. he walked over to the pearl coloured sofa, placing the tray on the table, and draping a linen cloth next to it. He turned to Monica, bowing slightly, and Monica not knowing how else to respond, bowed back. The man chuckled a little, and made he way out of the room, shutting the door behind him. Monica was left alone with her plate of fresh cooked deliciousness. The eggs were fluffy and filled with some sort of spice and herbs, with some sort of small leaf on top. The sausages were bigger than any Monica had seen. Cut into equal sized discs and the inside had dots of... Monica didn't even know what. the whole plate was steaming, and the room swelled with the aroma. To finish off the breakfast was freshly squeezed orange juice, though not that Monica would have guessed, but she would have never had purer juice. "Certainly different than what Dad would make..." Monica spoke to her small rat, as she slowly sat in front of her feast.

After Monica had dug in, there was a second knock at the door. Monica, food full in her mouth, mumbled out a, "Com'in" but it wasn't the same man, it was an older woman, with light grey hair, tall and slender, with a soft warm face. Just her presence could calm a screaming child. It was Astrid, the whole reason Monica had ventured here. She smiled at Monica as she entered the room, and Monica quickly took her juice, trying to swallow the mouthfuls of egg she just shovelled into her mouth, "Mrs.... Norv--" Monica struggled to speak with all the food in her mouth, Astrid stood at the doorway, lifting her hand as if to say, it's okay. "May I join you?" Her voice was silky smooth, and full of wisdom. Monica nodded, and Astrid wasted no time to claim a spot next to Monica.

Having arrived so late the night before, Monica didn't get the chance to properly meet Astrid, she could feel her palms grow moist with sweat. Her heart beat quickened slightly, but for the most part, she was calmer than she expected to be. Perhaps it was due to Astrid being such a welcoming person.

"This is lovely!" Astrid began, her crystal eyes locked on to Monica's, "I had never thought, there was another in our family, and yet here you are! A lifetime of mysteries finally coming to light." It felt more as if Astrid was speaking to herself, with Monica meerly a fly on the wall to the conversation. She was unsure if she should keep eating, or engage in conversation....

Her stomach gave a growl, and the Slytherin picked up another scoop of eggs, to appease it's cry. Astrid raised a hand, and gently stroked it through Monica's hair, "seems you have the same texture, even if the colour isn't quite right." She laughed, causing Monica to also chuckle, blue was for sure not a natural colour to run in the family. "I'm sorry," Astrid added before pulling her hand back, "I am sure this is a lot for you to take in, I myself have a great deal of processing to do, I can't even imagine how you are taking it.... I don't mean to go to fast." It was so odd, having never met this woman in Monica's whole life, and yet in this single moment, Monica had a feeling with her that she had never had with anyone, that underlining sense that there was a connection there. Like Monica had known of Astrid all her life though this was their first time meeting. Is this what it was like to meet a blood relative?
