"How many books are there?" Cleo groaned, nimble fingers playing across the spines of countless novels, textbooks and bibliographies. She herself wasn't particularly interested in literature in the Wizarding world... she wasn't particularly interested in literature as it was. "Thousands, there has to be thousands." She mumbled to herself. The librarian was of no help, It was midday so students milled about and took up most their attention. It wasn't like Cleo wanted to take the time to explain what she was looking for anyway, she'd find the stupid Potions help book on her own. For a moment she turned on her heel to lean against the sizable book shelves, taking in a deep sigh and casting azure eyes out towards the studying masses. So many witchs and wizards with all definable talents and personalities and here she was, not particularly caring about her studies yet mad searching for a book her professor recommended like a lost puppy.

It wasn't like Cleo to let things get to her, she was normally laid back unless provoked - and she supposed her grandmothers letter last week did just that. 'I've been talking with an old friend of mine who works at Hogwarts, Cleopatra.' Leave it to her high strung grandmother to use her horrifyingly pretentious real name just to get under her skin. 'She says you're lagging in classes. Buck up, don't want to disappoint your father now do you?' A scowl adorned the young girls porcelain like features as she pushed herself off the shelves and peeked around into the next aisle. Yes, Cleo was aggressively attempting to boost her grades because her grandmother hinted that she wasn't doing good enough as per usual. She was a spiteful person, no doubt.

Caught in her thoughts was when she saw it, the potions help book, in the hands of another student. From the looks of their uniform she was a Ravenclaw, probably a second or third year. Immediately Cleo scoffed, knowing just her luck a confrontation wasn't too far fetched; she'd been itching for a fight anyway. "Hey!" Cleo garnered the other's attention, keeping her voice at a tolerable level in case the librarian decided to interject. Cleo approached, smiling venomously. "I need that book."

"Великолепный" Eri silently breathed to herself. Magnificent was exactly how she always described the library. Old books with that smell that determines they must be very old, big books with thousands of pages, small books that make people think 'Why is this even a book?', and many other kinds of books. This vast expanse of knowledge was one of Eri's favorite places in the entire castle. One thing that this twelve year old loved was to learn and what better place to learn than the library filled with vast knowledge from many knowledgeable people.

The brunette probably had a wide knowledge of where most books were in the library. Today she was looking for a potions book for most years. Trailing her hand along the spines of the potions boom she found it and picked it up cradling carefully in her hand.

A voice was heard behind her and she turned and made a remark. "Эй, возьмите свою книгу!" She said that assuming the girl didn't know Russian. What she said was Hey, get your own book! "Don't you know it's rude to ask for something someone else has?" Then she added sarcastically, "Sure I'll give you the book that I needed."

Cleo laughed incredulously, standing just steps from the Ravenclaw girl. "Great, now we're speaking gibberish sounds like a fun time." She mocked cruelly, hand extending flat and fingers curling rhythmically to show that she expected the other to hand over the book. Normally Cleo would just grab the book and leave, no one ever really challenged her when she was assertive - no one had ever had the guts to tell her no when she was so forward with them. Hogwarts, however, was a whole other ball game that she had never experienced. Cleo wasn't clear on the rules yet, and everyone else around her had capabilities and a wide range of personalities unlike the middle school kids she surrounded herself with back home. Therefore she would have to tone herself down a bit for now.

"So?" Cleo challenged simply, hand still extended as she cocked a slim brow in questioning. "Are you going to give me the book or no? Because I don't have all day, and even if I did I wouldn't want to spend it arguing with a Ravenclaw." It had taken Cleo barely a week to understand that Ravenclaw's and Slytherin's didn't tend to get along, their personalities clashed quite exponentially and though there were always exceptions Cleo liked the idea of having a social pass to act like a jerk - she could simply explain it to other's as 'well, we just don't get along' and very easily get away with it.

"It was  Russian and it meant get your own book." Eri responded calmly to the Slytherin. "Why would I give it to you. Cause I clearly don't have all day to argue." She quietly muttered "With a dumb Slytherin." The brunette stuck the book in her bag so she could carry it up front. She shrugged in response to her hand motion with a smirk.

"Sorry I didn't hear the first part of that question? It sounded like you wanted me to keep the book and also an apology for your behavior. Thank you how kind." Eri said with sarcasm and a big smirk on her face.

Though it was weird. The brunette wasn't usually this mean to people, or did she just blurt stuff out. Which is probably cause she was a little bit mad at the girl and she didn't even know this girl's name. Which didn't really cross her mind as bad, but it normally would have bothered her. A small mischievous glimmer could be seen shining in her eyes. There was so many things that could come out of this encounter and it may be good or it may be bad, but how was she supposed to know.

"Ah, Russian, I see. Well I don't speak Russian and I'm sure you knew that-" Azure eyes narrowed dangerously, a slight tilt of her head showing just how annoyed Cleo was becoming with the girl, "Or maybe you didn't, who knows what goes on in your head." When she shoved the book in her bag Cleo snapped her hand back towards her body, sneering coldly. An apology? Was this girl deranged? Cleo had very obviously seen her around, she didn't seem the type to put up such a fight over such a simple matter - maybe she was just having a bad day. No less, Cleo was still vying for that book.

"Putting words into my mouth like a true self absorbed Ravenclaw. No worries, I'll forgive you for having such ridiculous ideas about who I am." She shot the girl a sickly sweet smile, taking a faux contended sigh. "Cleo Killian is who I am, by the way. Similarly I am also someone you don't want as an enemy. How 'bout I just pay you for the book, yeah?" She needed it as soon as possible considering she had a test coming up next week; with no double copies and unsure of how long the Ravenclaw girl would need it for Cleo was slightly desperate. This didn't stop her from being cruel, however, if anything it fueled her dark side even more. "I have 4 sickles on me right now-" Cleo sized her up, head to toe with an animated brow raise for effect. "-looks like you could use the money."

"It was a guess, but it seemed I was right." Eri shrugged. She was probably over reacting about the book. In reality she only needed to right down one definition. But who cares. "Look I need the book. You can have when I'm done." She glares looking at the ground. Self absorbed? Okay that was s little to far but she shook it off. She already had enough enemies as it was, but she wasn't scared of this girl. There were worse people to make enimies with.

"Look I'm not scared of you. Also I don't need the money I just choose to look like I do. Plus I only need to write a definition down and I need it for tomorrow so if you have a peice of paper and a pen  I'll write it down and you can have the book." Eri said calmly then added, "If not then I'll be off to my common room and I'll bring the book back tomorrow." Eri said to the Slytherin and shrugged. Maybe this would be fine or maybe she made an enemy. Does she care? Not at the moment, but she could care more than she does at the moment.

Cleo scoffed, rolling her eyes skyward. This had to be one of the first encounters she's had where the latter didn't immediately give her what she wanted - it was bothering her, but this Ravenclaw girl was being at least slightly reasonable. "Alright, fine, if you just need one definition then I'll give you something to write it down on." Cleo would need that book to pass, she had to study it as much as possible for the next week and if she let this girl go with it for the night then she'd just stress about it until it was in her own hands. So Cleo reached into her small bag that she carried around with her, pulling out a small notebook and a pencil.

"Make it quick, I have places to be." The young Slytherin snapped, extending her arm outwards with the items at hand. On any other day Cleo might not have acted so strongly, she might have even asked this girl nicely for the book ( or, as nice as she could manage ) but she had received a bad mark that morning, the cold weather was giving her a cold and she still hadn't received any letters from her father. Her mood was foul, so as to be expected every word that past her lips would also turn out to be foul. Nothing she could do about it.

Eri nodded and took the He notebook and pen. She opened the book to the page she needed and placed the notebook on the opposite page of the book and started to write down the definition. Once she was done she placed the peice of paper into her bag then handed Cleo the notebook, pen, and the book.

"Thanks I guess. I don't need anymore enimies so can we just start over. Hi I'm Eri, as you already know I can be sarcastic, rude, and annoying." She said with a small shrug. Even if Cleo ignored her that would be fine.

Eri debated over getting a new book from the library or going to her dorm an picking one from her small collection of books in her trunk. She hopes her Aunt will send her a new book soon. The ones she has now she has read a gaziluon times each and knows the stories like the backside of her hand.

The brunette wiped a strand of hair away from her face and looked at the shelf next to her. There were so many books in the library and she could try to read them all, but probably never will.
