Tes appreciated Dora's concern for her textbook, but she wasn't nearly as worried. "It's no problem! My mum and I dry and press a few flowers every year, so I'd be happy to help. It shouldn't do anything too terrible to the book, there's just a small chance of it getting stained or the pages getting a bit wrinkled. I'm not worried, so we'll use the first half of one of my books that I've already read! I shouldn't be looking back at that anytime soon anyway," Tes pauses, and adds, "Besides, your journal is more important if it's special to you."
"Oh! I already have an owl feather, so a chicken feather would pair nicely!"
Tes lit up, excited that Isadora already had a similar idea. "Is the feather from an owl of your own or one of the school ones? If you have a spare I'd love to have it and that way the both of us can have a matching feather to think of each other over the summer! I brought plenty of feathers with me, intentionally or unintentionally, so I'm happy to share what I have. I always seem to have a few sneak into my suitcase whenever I'm at home." She couldn't help but think it would be nice to have something of Dora's to take home with her, and wondered where she'd put it if Dora had an extra to give her. She didn't want to start a journal, like Dora had, but maybe she could put memories from the year in a nice box?
I didn't actually make it to the petting zoo at the Fall Ball. I danced a bit with Rita, and I really wanted to meet up with you, but I just got so tired I ended up heading to the dorm early. I wish I could've gone, though! That's what I was most excited for," Tes frowned a bit, wishing the Fall Ball hadn't landed so close to the full moon, making her feel just as drained as she was today, but she lightened up a bit as she recalled something, "What other animals did they have there? I wonder if any of them are the same as the animals the Care of Magical Creatures professor is letting us look at soon! Did you see that errand listed? It looked like they had some pretty neat creatures to interact with." Tes rested her head in her hand, sighing dreamily at the thought of getting to play with interesting animals.
Tes appreciated Dora's concern, and could feel the urge to take her up on the offer and go take an extended nap, but waved it off instead. She was having too much fun catching up with her friend! "No, no, I'm fine! I'll just take a nap later today. It's no trouble, I'm just happy we get to catch up finally!"

Interacting with @Tesla Stone"Well.." Dora relents as Tesla explains how they can use one of her old books to press flowers, "If you insist. Thank you." She is a little relieved that she won't ruin the notebook her uncle gave her for Christmas.
When she mentions the owl feather she collected, Tes seems to get a little excited. "Is the feather from an owl of your own or one of the school ones? If you have a spare I'd love to have it and that way the both of us can have a matching feather to think of each other over the summer! I brought plenty of feathers with me, intentionally or unintentionally, so I'm happy to share what I have. I always seem to have a few sneak into my suitcase whenever I'm at home."
"Oh, no. Just one of the school owls in the owlery. I could probably get another. There's feathers everywhere up there." And apparently everywhere at Tesla's home, by her description. Dora smiles a bit at the idea of a suitcase stuffed full of feathers. "Maybe we can trade feathers on Monday? That's when I post my letters to Grandmother every week."
That reminds her of the letter she received yesterday, making her frown. Of course, she shouldn't have expected to be able to work with her uncle just because he lets her help out every now and then. It isn't ladylike. She just needs to focus on school right now. Her shoulders feel heavier when she thinks of the marks she'll be sending back soon.
That train of thought is interrupted when Tesla asks about the Fall Ball. "I'm sorry you had to retire early." She says sympathetically, "Honestly, I didn't really want to go in the first place. I don't like how crowded it is, and all the people looking.." Dora admits without thinking, then carries on, "But the Petting Zoo wasn't bad, for a while. There were Jarveys and Kneazles and Nifflers, but, um.." She thinks about how best to say this, a little surprised Tesla didn't know about the disaster. "Then there was a bit of a... breakout."

Tes made a mental note to find a daffodil or something of the sort once the spring flowers started growing, relieved that Dora would let her use her textbook to dry it. She'd feel guilty ruining her friend's notebook, and she was far too tired to argue her point any more than she already had. All she had to hope was that Dora appreciated it!
Tes was overjoyed that Dora would be able to get another feather so the two could trade sooner rather than later. She nodded eagerly, pondering what feather she'd give Dora. Maybe she had one of the gray striped Araucana feathers? She'd have to check her suitcase. And maybe her pockets. And books. There were a lot of chicken feathers in her things, she'd just have to find the right one. "Monday sounds great! It's nice that you talk with your family so regularly, I have a bad habit of forgetting to send owls until I have a whole bunch to say, and then they end up getting really long! Thankfully my mums can both read my handwriting. I've had a couple professors talk to me about my essays," Tes sighed, rubbing the back of her neck and grimacing down at the table with a slight blush. She'd seen Dora's beautiful handwriting, and her own aptly named "chicken scratch" could use some help. Maybe she could blame some of it on her chicken feather quills?
Tes hummed sympathetically as Isadora talked about the stress of the ball, before she leaned forward eagerly with wide eyes as Dora brought up the creatures. "If I'd known you didn't want to go, maybe we could have stayed in the dorm and spent time together instead! Sometimes I get overwhelmed when there's a ton of sounds and smells, so I wasn't too sure about it," Tes gave Dora a comforting smile, before letting herself lean even closer to Dora across the bench, balancing precariously on her hands, "But I can't believe I missed it! Those are all super cool creatures. But what do you mean about the," Tes whispered gleefully, taking advantage of Dora's seeming hesitation on the topic to be playfully dramatic in her questioning, "breakout!" Tes couldn't help but giggle about how silly and dramatic a description like "breakout" was, eagerly awaiting Dora's explanation.

"Hm? Oh, it's just a habit." Dora explains, "It's important to keep my grandmother updated on my activities." Dora smiles. She can imagine Tesla's handwriting being messy and going on for too long. It reminds her of how she talks sometimes. "Maybe if we study together again, I can proofread your essay." She suggests. "And calligraphy just takes practice. I'm sure your handwriting will improve." Calligraphy was one of the things her grandmother taught her that she was actually decent at.
As Dora describes the Fall Ball, Tesla tries to comfort her. "If I'd known you didn't want to go, maybe we could have stayed in the dorm and spent time together instead! Sometimes I get overwhelmed when there's a ton of sounds and smells, so I wasn't too sure about it,"
"Thank you. That would have been nice." Dora replies honestly, and she does feel a little better knowing that Tesla also gets overwhelmed at big parties. Though, the smells never distracted Dora. Maybe Tes has a sensitive nose. "I would've had to go anyways, however. My grandmother wrote me and said so." Dora relays unhappily.
"But I can't believe I missed it! Those are all super cool creatures. But what do you mean about the... breakout!" Tesla giggles when she asks about the 'breakout' Dora mentioned. The dark-haired girl nearly shivers remembering it. "It was awful! Somehow, a bunch of the animals got out of their pens." Dora explains, "I don't know if they ever discovered how it happened, but there were Nifflers everywhere! One of them tore the silver on my dress!" It was exciting and terrible all at once. It probably sounds funny, too. Dora couldn't believe it when it was happening. "Maybe it's better you missed it, they might have crawled all over you."

Tes was flattered that instead of even friendly teasing her about her writing, Isadora instead offered to help with her essays. She tilted her head fondly, appreciative of her friend's kindness. She of course wouldn't expect Dora to be outright mean about her handwriting, but Tes's comment could have easily been taken as joking and open to teasing, despite the fact that with her current level of exhaustion that wasn't her goal at all. "Your grandmother must really care about your schooling! I'd appreciate help with my essays. Some classes are better than others, but I could certainly use a second pair of eyes. If only to make sure my letters are legible!"
Tesla frowned slightly, furrowing her brow in confusion. "I can understand wanting to hear about your classes, but if you don't want to go to a party you shouldn't have to go. Besides, I don't want to encourage secrets or anything, but what if you just hadn't gone and told her you went? Or maybe just went for a tiny bit of time so you technically attended it?" Tes hummed thoughtfully, thinking of what she'd do if her parents told her to go to a party she didn't want to go to. She honestly couldn't imagine that happening, barring the Christmas party her Grandmother had taken her to. If her grandmother sent her a letter telling her to go the ball, would she have gone? Probably not. "I guess I can't imagine my mums telling me to go to a party I didn't want to go to, so I guess you know better that sometimes you just have to go.
Tes gaped as Dora explained the animals escaping, and a Niffler nabbing something right off her dress! "The definitely sounds awful! I'm sorry your dress got ruined, Nifflers sure are troublesome little guys!" Tes couldn't help but smile a bit though at the thought of her normally stoic friend getting crawled on by critters, "It probably would've been better if we'd swapped places! It seems like you got shaken up by it, but a bit of muck and some cute animals crawling all over me would've made the night worth it. Although I could go without a Niffler stealing any of my things... Animals are a lot easier to deal with than a dance for me at least! I stepped right all over my poor dance partner's toes. It is too bad it happened though, I bet that was quite a shock for you and everyone else." Tes hummed dreamily at the thought of tickling a particularly chunky Niffler instead of staring longingly at party foods and stepping on toes.

Interacting with @Tesla StoneTesla seems confused when Dora explains her grandmother's wish for her to attend the Fall Ball.
"I can understand wanting to hear about your classes, but if you don't want to go to a party you shouldn't have to go. Besides, I don't want to encourage secrets or anything, but what if you just hadn't gone and told her you went? Or maybe just went for a tiny bit of time so you technically attended it?"
"Oh, I could never lie to her about that." Dora replies quickly. Who knows what would happen if she went against her grandmother directly, "Besides, I've been attending balls like that for years. I should be used to it. She just wanted me to get over that, and make her proud." Dora explains, feeling a bit unsettled about this topic of conversation. She doesn't really want to talk about her grandmother anymore.
Tesla's reaction to the Niffler incident is one of surprise and amusement. "The definitely sounds awful! I'm sorry your dress got ruined, Nifflers sure are troublesome little guys!"
"The Nifflers weren't so bad when they were in the pen." Dora admits, thinking they're actually quite cute. "And don't worry about my dress, I managed to fix it." The dress is a story in and of itself, and Dora hasn't quite got the heart to explain how she lost it.
"It probably would've been better if we'd swapped places! It seems like you got shaken up by it, but a bit of muck and some cute animals crawling all over me would've made the night worth it. Although I could go without a Niffler stealing any of my things..."
Dora imagines that, huffing a light laugh. "You probably would have loved it." And Dora would have loved being there with her, she thinks. It would have been easier.
"Animals are a lot easier to deal with than a dance for me at least! I stepped right all over my poor dance partner's toes. It is too bad it happened though, I bet that was quite a shock for you and everyone else."
"Don't worry about the dancing." Dora assures, having been in a similar position, "I'm not very good at it either. Bradley still won't let me hear the end of it.." She shakes her head, not really wanting to talk about him either, instead reminiscing about a funny memory. "I can't imagine you were that bad, though. I've seen your dancing talent." She fondly remembers Tesla doing the chicken dance in the library, trying to help her with Tarantallegra.
Dora finishes up her meal, a little sad she can't stay longer. Her studies call her back. "This has been nice." She says sincerely, "I'll try to remember to pick up an owl feather for you next time I'm in the owlery."
