Megara’s hair ebbs and flows between various shades of brown throughout the seasons. During summer, she is closer to a blonde, but her hair deepens to a chocolate brown during the winter months. Her eyes are a piercing blue that often prove unnerving when they linger for too long. She is short for her family, measuring at 4 feet and 10 inches, but she’s been assured that she will hit a growth spurt soon.

Personality:

Megara is a fiery cracker. She was once ridiculously spoiled, and now finds herself insanely jealous. She keeps to herself at school, and is a decent student, but she likes to cause as much chaos as possible at home. She often finds herself daydreaming, doodling, and writing in her diary.

History:

Born on the 9th of February 2011, Megara is the third of four daughters in her family. She spent half of her life being the baby, and she was well spoiled in that role. She was used to getting everything she wanted, whenever she wanted, until a new baby stole the title of ‘the youngest Archeron.’ Ever since her mother announced her fourth pregnancy, the unwavering attention once dedicated to Megara began to wane. Once her sister became a physical being in the world, all eyes were on her every waking minute. Jealousy took root in Megara the day her sister was born and continued to grow like the disease it was. At six years old, it was reasonable that Megara couldn’t understand the shift of her family’s attention, but now that she is ready to start her Hogwarts journey, her jealousy has become unreasonable. She has been able to contain herself during school, for the most part. She usually kept to herself and made perfect marks without trying. Home was a different story, however. She would act out whenever possible. Her older sisters spent most of the year at Hogwarts, so her youngest sister was often the victim of her outbursts. It was easy to blame things on her due to her age- muddy bootprints on the carpet, containers spilling their contents all over the kitchen, wands hidden in mysterious places. As she began to grow closer to that magical age of eleven, it became more difficult to blame true accidents on her sister. She often found herself wandering the home, thinking of a way to disrupt the house for the day, and find the objects she pondered destroying tipping over or shattering on their own accord. By the time this summer rolled around, it was of no surprise to anyone that she received her Hogwarts acceptance.

Megara was able to experience a brief moment of happiness when that letter arrived. All eyes were on her as she retrieved the envelope from the owl’s beak and pulled back the wax seal. Her parents shouted encouragement, and everybody took turns giving her a hug and congratulations. The next morning, things shifted back to normal, and Megara went about her day mostly unnoticed. Only Megara seemed to noticed the momentary shift of balance. She had felt the rush of adrenaline at finally experiencing the attention she had so desperately craved. She knew that this was only the start of reclaiming her stake as the prized Archeron.

Relatives:

Cassian, 40- Father, Wizard, Ravenclaw. He was always interested in Muggle studies during his Hogwarts year, and found himself a Muggle wife.
Dorothea, 38- Mother, Muggle. The Archeron family has been raised in the Muggle world so that Dorothea's relatives have a chance to know their granddaughters/nieces.
Este, 15- 5th year Ravenclaw. She always claimed Megara would be a Slytherin, taunting her with, "that's where all the naughty kids go." She is studious and viewed as wise beyond her years.
Lark, 13- 3rd year Hufflepuff. Sweet, a true friend, loves to tend to plants and care for animals.
Anika, 5- Youngest sister. Spoiled rotten and new center of attention.

First Instance of Magic:

Megara’s first spurt of accidental magic happened sometime between the ages of 7 and 8, on the day of her sister’s first birthday. Megara’s birthday that year had been the least special one thrown for her. She was used to extravagant parties, with piles of treats and presents. Her 7th birthday was no different from the ones she had seen thrown for her older sisters- a plain cake and three presents. Her younger sister’s first birthday party had been more extravagant than all of Megara’s birthdays combined. When she arrived home from school that day, she felt rage like no other. All of the lightbulbs in the living room had burnt out, as if a fuse had blown. The lights in every other room remained lit, and the lamps in the living room were remedied with new bulbs. That night sparked the first of many conversations between Megara and her parents about controlling her anger.

Sorting:

The moment Megara had been waiting for had finally arrived. Ever since she had received that small drop of attention from her parents when her acceptance letter arrived, she had been craving another taste of attention. She had packed her parchment, quill, and ink at the top of her trunk, so that she could write a letter home as soon as the sorting ceremony was over. She knew no matter what house she was sorted into, her parents would return her letter with a page of excitement. She knew they would be a little less enthused if she was sorted into Slytherin, but she had already prepared herself for such an outcome. Ever since her oldest sister, Este, had started her tenure at Hogwarts, she had told Megara she would be a Slytherin due to the chaos she brought to the Archeron home.

"Slytherin is where all the naughty kids go," her sister teased during her first holiday break. "You'd fit right in with all the stunts you pull and your mischievous nature."

Este had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She was studious and wise beyond her years. Megara figured if she was deemed ill-fit for Slytherin, her next most likely choice would be Ravenclaw. She was a top student and did enjoy reading and writing.

Between Este's sorting and Megara's, the second Archeron, Lark, had come to Hogwarts. Again, this was a good match for her sister. Lark was sweet, a true friend, and loved to tend to plants and animals.

Now it was Megara's turn to seal her fate. She knew she would be one of the first to be sorted, if not the first. She ambled toward the front of the crowd of incoming students, prepared to step up to the wooden stool. Once the professor up front unrolled the scroll of names and read out the first name, which was surprisingly not Megara's, the room started to spin a bit. There was no reason for her to be nervous, but she could barely focus on who was headed up to the stool and any of the words that came out of the hat's mouth. In the blink of an eye, it was her turn.

"Archeron, Megara," the old hat crooned. Megara shakily made her way to the front of the Great Hall. The hat was dropped on her head, the brim nearly covering her eyes. She desperately tried to meet her sister's eyes at the golden and blue tables across from her, but the crowd turned into a sea of blurry faces.

"Another Archeron, eh?" the hat pondered. "So different from your sisters, aren't you? Loyal to yourself only. Studious, but only for the praise. Slytherin would suit you fine, but there is a fierceness in you that shines bright. Better be..."

"Gryffindor!"

The hat was quickly yanked from her head and the whole hall erupted in applause. She finally caught a glimpse of Este at the far end of the hall, and Megara noted a hint of apprehension on her sister's face as she slowly clapped. Megara couldn't help but be confused herself, as she sat down at the table belonging to her new home.
