Butterbeer Tasting
Bloom took the cup of Sarsaparilla butterbeer and sipped it gently. It was different. She had never tasted something so sweet before. In a way, it was a little too sweet for her. When she heard Amadea answer that she enjoyed sweet, Bloom pointed at her cup.Destination: The Tasting Tent

"This one is super sweet. It's Sarsaparilla. It is a bit too sweet for me, so it has to be perfect for you!" she said, thinking out loud. That was what she assumed when people said they liked sweet. It is, a fact, that Bloom enjoyed sour, and the most something was sour, the better. "I like sour," she said, answering her follow-up question.
Although too sweet, Bloom was trying to get the last drop of butterbeer, for she realized that she only had ten left to go. It seemed like a lot, but she knew that with the amount of flavors and the little cups they received, it would only be a matter of time until she went through all of them.
Bloom was looking through the menu once again when she noticed that Amadea was introducing herself to a Slytherin boy. He seemed young, so Bloom assumed that he was a first year. She then watched Amadea grab a cinnamon butterbeer from the counter, but then back at the Slytherin. He seems nice..., she said, thinking about the prior year and how much her interactions with Slytherins were a nightmare. When he opened the conversation in asking for her name, she felt as though she did not want to be rude.
"Bloom Silverton, second year," she quickly said. She then looked back at the menu, realizing that there was not anything sour. The closest that she could find was bitter. She decided to order the Black Licorice flavor. "Black licorice cold please!" she said, and she grabbed the cup. Bloom smelled the drink and made a slight face. It did not seem appetizing, but she had wanted to try it. In addition, there was no going back as she now had nine left to go.
Taking a deep breath, she took a swig of the drink and swallowed quickly. "BLECH!" she shouted. Her taste buds were going out of control. Although it was bitter, the muscles on her face were that if she were eating something sour. "Okay guys... Don't drink this one," she said to both Elijah and Amadea. She hoped that she saved one for the team with this flavor. Perhaps I should go back to the regular flavor to wash down this one...

[FONT="Century Gothic"]Quinn had been looking forward to this event for quite sometime. As much as creating your own type of butterbeer in the other tent sounded. This tent was much more appealing to the young, boisterous red head that had a strange curiosity to match.
Butterbeer oh that sweet smooth liquid that tasted so much like the delicious flavor of butterscotch he oh so loved. Just thinking about it was enough to make Quinn drool...in fact it actually was. Barely a minute near the tents and he was already drooling. No doubt making a right eijit of himself.
Realizing what was occurring Quinn in a swift manner wiped the drool that was coming down his cheek on the inner sleeve of his black school robes. His cheeks were a light shade of rosey red, and so was his nose. As it was a bit nippy outside, though Quinn wouldn't have it any other way. He absolutely adored the month of october, especially since his birthday was on his favorite holiday of the year. Next to Christmas of course!
Taking his black and yellow scarf he readjusted it around his neck covering the lower part of his mouth and blocking the wind from hitting his nose directly. It looked quite silly granted but whatever worked, worked right? Well that was besides the point. He was wasting precious time afterall the Butterbeer wouldn't taste itself afterall.
Walking into the tasting tent, Quinn was blown back by just how many people were in there already. "Woah..." His eyes widened in childish wonderment and excitement. There were so many flavors, he didn't know which one to try. So...he did what he did best, he explored the tent stopping at one table that had a small tasting cup on it. This liquids color was different from all the others, it was absolutely beautiful.
When he read the card that was at the table, he knew he just had to try. "Caramel please." Ever the polite boy he was, Quinn was given the small cup of liquid. Barely a few seconds later he was sipping down the liquid rather quickly before stopping to actually process what he was tasting. The flavor was utterly and nearly indescribably. There was an astonishing, yet delicately fragile sweetness that only enhanced the smoothness of the drink. It truly made the butterbeer's flavor stand out anymore.
He would absolutely savor this first drink. In all honesty he would most likely just stick with this flavor for the time being. After having his little dramatic moment, Quinn looked around and began exploring again. His eyes scanned the entire room carefully observing the different drinks on every table. In the process his eyes fell upon a familiar face in a crowd of somewhat familiar faces. "Is that?..."
Swiftly the young red head made his way further into the tent. Noticing the familiar posture and hair Quinn automatically knew who the Slytherin he had caught a glimpse just now of was. Excitedly he ran up to her nearly spilling what was left of his caramel butterbeer. "Alexx!" He exclaimed nearly running into the poor girl. "How are ya? Have ya tried this stuff it's soooo gooooood!"

Butterbeer Tasting

Periculum in mora.
Danger in delay, was the meaning of the quote-- Titus Livius, known as Livy in English, author of Abe Urbe Condita in Ancient Rome. The opposite seemed true, although both applied to her, and she was often chastised for her inability to obey both. The situation that rushed toward her now, a flaming wall of disaster, seemed to be another round of scolding.
The first kiss of Butterbeer on the tip of her tongue left little to want. Her eyes widened as pain registered, and then she dropped the spoon, jerking away impulsively and backing out of the tent. Somehow she retained her grace, the grace that seemed to come with youth yet would follow her throughout her years, as she slipped out from the tent into the coldness of the elements beyond for a moment, even as her jaw clenched.
Once alone, the girl lost her composure. Warm as it was, the Butterbeer was much, much, much too warm… not warm at all, in fact, but downright spicy-- and Cel was not one for spiciness. And it was sweet, but even her tolerance for sugar had limits-- she got what she asked for, and quite a lot more than that. She felt her stomach churn-- felt the muscles in her jaw go slack as she stopped trying-- and, quite unfortunately, retched onto the ground.
Vomiting, the young Ravenclaw had once read, had two phases: the retching phase, then the expulsion phase, each rather self-explanatory. Perhaps the small amount of Butterbeer that had touched her tongue had kept her from too much expulsion, but the experience was short, thankfully-- more like regurgitation than vomiting, two phrases often confused. Not so thankfully, the hazy cloud of nausea still lingered around her, and she hesitated for a moment-- still in the cold-- before decidedly heading back into the warmth of the tent.
Wisdom manifested in strange ways. Most warned against making the same mistake twice, sometimes unnecessarily-- Cel had no such grievances. Barely twenty seconds after she had partially recovered, she was passing through the tent’s drawn flaps again, back before the row of ingredients. She would not be making the same mistake twice at all-- she would be… cautious. As you tell yourself several times over before doing quite the opposite, her mind harrumphed at her. She told her mind to shut up.
Nutmeg, despite her previous experience with its close cousin, cinnamon. She stopped to think-- what had prompted the noxious mixture to turn out so abhorrently? Well, there was certainly no shortage of ingredients; perhaps that would change. Her hand hovered over each choice, uncertain, but ended up choosing toffee. Prior to her arrival in England, she had never so much as touched toffee-- and how sad that had been, not knowing its beautiful flavor. She grinned-- how might it turn out with Butterbeer? One more, she wanted… she bit her lip, not certain. Should Cel choose marshmallow’s sweet taste, or the tingle of some cinnamon, or perhaps the caress of warm cocoa?
Earlier thought came back to her, and she found herself sprinkling salt into the mixture again. The young Ravenclaw shrugged; hopefully the mixture would not be so terrible as her first, even as lingering shame, however irrational, pounded at her decision doubtfully. Her actions were mirrored: a careful upending of the ingredients she had chosen into the cauldron, a few stirs in the amber-gold liquid, and another, far more cautious sip.
1 Pinch African Sea Salt
1 Pinch Nutmeg
1 Spoonful Toffee

Butterbeer Tasting
School... festivities were never something he enjoyed, even as a student. They were messy, and crowded and students of all ages acted like four year old children. It was even more so when the professors announced a mixing booth, where students (and professors) could mix their own ingredients into butterbeer. Anton didn't find that amusing. He wasn't a brewer of drinks, but knowing how Potions worked make him incredibly suspicious that things would turn out horribly for those unlucky enough to throw in the wrong mixture of ingredients.Anton Nagal is at a small tent near the tasting tents. Here, if you so desire, you can come and ask for a potion to negate any side effects of a poorly-brewed drink. If you decide to come here, please write down the affects of what your taste did, so he can properly cure it!
So, to curb this irritation, Anton had set up a booth. Or, well, a small tent. Underneath the dark canopy sat a cauldron - gold in color, which could easily attract students or those who were interested. Along one side, tucked out of the reach of most grubby, sticky fingers, was several vials and bags of ingredients. Anton, of course, stood in front of the booth.
He had observed the other professors, and the way students mixed their drinks. How stupid. Were all these children uncultured swines? Anton struggled to not wrinkle his nose at how silly they were. If he had decided to partake in the tasting or mixing, he would surely not choose handfuls of spices. As he said earlier, he might not have been a brewer of drinks, but he knew how mixing items together could fail very quickly. Okay, he was definitely being judgmental... or super judgmental. He didn't particularly care.
He leaned against the pole for the canopy covering his equipment and waited. He was sure someone with bad effects of their overzealous concoctions. How many of them would actually care to reverse whatever issues they had? He doubted any of the other professors here thought about the severity of some of their students' creations.

Butterbeer Tasting
Glancing down at his empty cup, Arthur shrugged and put it with the other empties that people were done with. "Yeah... I'm not sure mine was much better," he admitted to Aurelia. Even though he drank it all..
Maybe he shouldn't have tried to make something that he'd never even had before. Hopefully after they got to taste some of the Butterbeer from the Tasting tent, he could try to make his own again with better results. He nodded, glad Aurelia agreed with the plan. He had turned away and started to walk out on the direction of the Tasting tent, when he heard Aurelia suddenly begin giggling behind him.
A smile pulled at the corner of his mouth, the way you tended to reflexively laugh when those around you were laughing even if you didn't know what was funny. "What's so.." he started to ask. But when he turned around, Aurelia was looking more distressed than mirthful. She was leaning against a chair, as though for support. His expression shifted instantly to one of concern. "Are you alright?" he asked her, worriedly. She seemed to be having trouble standing up straight as she muttered, “Godverdomme, Eeeehh hahaha. I can’t stop, hahaha.”
Not knowing what to do to help her himself, Arthur hurriedly ran over to the teacher instead. "Um, professor Risa, I think my friend is ill!" he told her urgently.

[ELIJAH HUANG & ALEXX HELM]
Nodding in a form of a greeting, Hjørdis acknowledged the young boy. He was polite, that much was for sure. He instantly was leaving a good impression on her, simply based on his etiquette. "Good afternoon," She replied as she acknowledged him. He was far more polite than some of the others she had met. For the newly appointed Professor, the first impression was always important and so far, he was succeeding in leaving a good one on her. Definitely a worthy Slytherin, it would seem.
The Head of House served him a hot cup of the Nutmeg drink, "A fine choice for this afternoon," She replied. The weather was nice but the temperature had started to drop a little. The hot drink would definitely help and Nutmeg was a good choice in her opinion. She preferred the less sweet options.
Another young child appeared, asking for a chocolate butterbeer. Although Hjørdis had no idea how anyone could actually stomach such a thing. It was so incredibly rich. The sweet butterbeer and very rich chocolate was quite a strong combination. Perhaps a sickeningly sweet one. However, children seemed to always like anything with chocolate so it was one that she had added. Nodding politely, she served Alexx the chocolate butterbeer sample, who decided to take it cold.
[SCOTT ALEXANDER & AMI PROCOPPIO]
She was in the middle of serving some samples to a Ravenclaw girl, a Hufflepuff Prefect and some other children around when she heard someone ask about butterbeer and the dietary requirements of it. She shook her head, "Sorry, it's not vegan. The base water we've used has butter essence in it," Hjørdis replied as she paused for a second. The base water in the other tent was the same, it was ready so that the students would be able to simply throw ingredients in and drink it without having to create the butterbeer from scratch.
"It would, however, be a shame to miss out." She continued after a moment, deciding she knew what could be done, "Outside, you'll see another small tent with the Potions Professor. He should be able to mix up something similar for you as a vegan Butterbeer. Just tell him Professor Jensen sent you," Hjørdis replied. The Professor would probably hate her for sending children over but hey, she was not about to let them miss out. This way, he would know it was permitted for them. It was fairly easily done, if they had the right ingredients. He should have some but if not, she could probably whip something up. The students would then be able to drink the butterbeer as it was, ask the Professor to add in ingredients to try a certain type or throw in some spices themselves in the mixing tent.
[MORFRAN GRIFFITH]
Hjørdis really needed to excuse herself from this insufferable man. Even Aoi had left her with him. He was trying and testing her patience, which was already rather limited. He seemed keen to insult her and yet, every time he tried, he just complimented her. It was a little amusing, to be quite honest. However, it was still like a fly was hovering around him that needed to be flicked away. "Oh no, don't worry, it did not take that much effort at all. I'm glad you think it looks so nice though," She continued, hopefully annoying him enough for him to leave her alone.
"Oh, I don't think it's necessary to be teaching at five am but I shall consider it, if I find any students breaking curfew then." Yes, Hjørdis had gotten ready at five in the morning. She was usually up by four thirty, after all. Since children were not meant to be up and around until after six, it gave her ample time to get ready.
She shrugged lightly, "Tradition is important. But so is change and flexibility." She replied. Adhering to tradition sometimes left a country behind others. It made them inflexible to the modern needs. This was not always the case but there were clear examples of it. For example, traditionally, women did not work. If that rule still existed today, she would not be standing in front of him as the Head of Slytherin in the first place. Most of the staff in the school were now women, it seemed and they were doing a far more capable job than this annoying headache of a man. "Besides, traditionally, I grew up as a muggle. So I'm adhering to the customs of my childhood," Hjørdis explained, having grown up with her muggle grandparents for the better part of her childhood.
The Slytherin simply nodded when Griffith gave her permission to make him a drink. There was no doubt he would hate it. But hey, perhaps his stomach or taste buds would find the drink as insufferable as she found his company. Heading over to the Mixing Tent, she grabbed a little cup and threw in some ingredients quickly into it. She then threw them into a spare cauldron, mixing it at one of the empty stations. "Here, continue to mix this for two minutes and try it," She told him.
[ARTHUR MORGAN]
Hjørdis frowned as she overheard a boy talking about a sick friend of his. Quickly, she made her way over to the child and Professor Risa, "There's a tent outside, with the potions professor. He can whip up a cure for her." She replied, glancing over to the Gryffindor friend he mentioned. She was giggling at lot, uncontrollably. It was like she was in a state of hysteria. Of course, the Slytherin had no idea exactly what she had mixed together but she could hazard a guess as to what at least one of the ingredients was, "Tell him she used too much Alihotsy." Hjørdis instructed him so that the boy would know what to say to the potions professor, if he was unable to take his friend over there with him.

Butterbeer Tasting
Finally. A wave of relief washed over the man as he finally detected the bitter sarcasm he knew should have been incoming. It hadn't taken so terribly long after all, which was something he was going to be eternally grateful for. She had almost been nice to his grouchy complaints before, returning his cynical observations with thanks rather than bitter words. Luckily, that had only been temporary. She was now on the same page everyone else would be on, sooner or later.
Snide remarks about five AM, which he thought was a bit hilarious. Who would wake up at five am just to wash hair and look presentable? Who was she trying to impress? He supposed it was possible she was attracted to one of the other professors, possibly irrelevantface, the potions flunky. Or, far more likely, that emo ginger that taught something at this School. ...Probably...
It wasn't unheard of that she could like one of the female professors, but they all seemed so horribly annoying it was hard for him to force himself to see any of them in an attractive enough light to imagine a ship. Professor Griffith never truly fell asleep. He napped. There were creatures that were nocturnal, and creatures that only stayed awake during day time, and all the times in between. That meant he had to be awake all the time. He was not foolish enough to run down his body with no sleep whatsoever, so the man compensated with intermittent power naps.
When she told him to stir the cauldron for two minutes, he just looked at it. There was no way he was going to sit there stirring a pot. He wasn't here to have good butterbeer, handmade by Hogwart's resident diva. He was here to drink a lot of butterbeer, and then leave. How long was two minutes, anyway? A lot longer than a grumpy old man was willing to stand around looking stupid stirring a pot, was the answer. A heck of a lot longer.
And then there was always the matter to consider that she had finally snapped, and she was clearly annoyed with him. Her comments were pretty easy to read. it wouldn't be unheard of for her to have purposefully made the drink horrible. In hindsight, he probably should have paid attention to what she put inside of it.
He ignored her comment about how muggle-ish she was, and refrained from responding to any of her other questions. He didn't see a point, and leaving on a sour note always left a worse impression.
Taking the cauldron off of the fire, he passed it off to the closest student.
"Stir for two minutes. Present from Professor Jensen."
And then walked off, considerably happier than when he had arrived, heading straight for the stables.

Open to other interactions.Amadea tried to gauge the Slytherin's feelings as he walked over and introduced himself to the two girls. Was he happy to have been acknowledged or would he have rather been alone? Amadea flashed back to her own first year, when she was still terribly shy and she didn't want to talk to anyone. Back then, Amadea would have fled if someone had called her over. Maybe the Slytherin was feeling the same way.
Amadea was now second guessing herself. Should she have called him over or not? On one hand, maybe he did need a push in the right direction to start talking to people. Plus Amadea was a Prefect and she had to make sure that everyone was getting along well and having fun. But on the other hand, maybe she should have just minded her own business and not assumed that he was all alone with no one to talk to. Maybe he didn't want to talk to anyone.
Whatever the case was, Amadea knew it was too late to do anything about it as he headed over and introduced himself as Elijah Huang. "Nice to meet you," Amadea said with a smile, holding out her hand politely.
Amadea turned back to Bloom, who introduced herself to Elijah and explained the taste of the flavor she was now tasting, Sarsaparilla. The name sounded completely foreign to Amadea and she was sure that if she tried to say it aloud, she would mispronounce it. Still, Amadea was interested in it and figured she should try it.
Turning back toward the table, Amadea said, "Could I try the, uh, Sarsaparilla?" She hoped she had said the name right, but it appeared as though it was okay because soon Amadea found herself sipping up the liquid. Amadea felt her eyes light up with surprise as she took her first sip. Bloom wasn't lying; it was really sweet. While Amadea loved sweet flavors, it was almost too sweet for her. Despite this, Amadea didn't plan on wasting any of the butterbeer in her cup.
Meanwhile, Elijah was still sipping his nutmeg butterbeer and Amadea made a mental note to try that one as well. At the same time, Bloom was ordering her next butterbeer: black licorice. Amadea personally didn't care for black licorice, though if she was being honest, she wasn't sure if she had ever even tried it. All she knew was that she didn't like the taste of regular licorice, so she assumed she would feel the same way about black licorice. Who knew, though, Amadea thought to herself. Maybe the butterbeer version was really good.
Amadea was about to open her mouth and ask Bloom about it, but the Ravenclaw took a sip and immediately made a wow-that's-really-sour face. Amadea immediately felt terrible for the poor girl as she was now imagining sipping a liquid version of licorice, which just seemed completely vile to Amadea. At least she now knew not to get that flavor. "Here, have some of this," Amadea said, holding out her half full cup of Sarsaparilla butterbeer. Maybe the overpowering sweetness of her butterbeer would neutralize the terrible sour flavor of the black licorice one.

The Tasting Tent Interacting with Aoi Risa
Elena nodded and smiled at Aoi, “No problem! Thanks for setting this all up.”
Elena drained her cup and then leaned back against the side of the tent, now that Griffith had left she felt brave enough to slink out of the shadows and go to the tasting tent.
She looked at all the different flavours warily, anything too sweet was out, so extra sweet, vanilla, chocolate, and maple syrup weren’t options. Sarsaparilla and licorice weren’t her style, so no to those as well. Cinnamon was nice but she wasn’t really feeling like something spicy, hmm, that cancelled out the sweet and spicy one too. What was left? Regular, nutmeg, caramel, and sweet and salty.
Sweet and salty sounded enticing, Elena had always loved salted caramel, but she loved butterscotch better than caramel, and so salt and butterscotch seemed the best option.
She walked tentatively up to Professor Jensen and tried another attempt at a smile, she quickly realised smiling was difficult when she was stressed, Rorie was her best friend, pretty much her sister, but she still felt alone somehow. So she settled on an expression of slightly stressed happiness, “Hi professor Jensen, I was wondering if maybe I could try some sweet and salty butterbeer? I’d like it hot if there’s an option.”

[size=14px]Professor Jensen[/size]Anastasia sipped her butterbeer and her eyes closed as the cinnamon and marshmallow mixed together on her tounge. She wasn't much to deviate from tradition, but this was definitely worth whatever risk there might have been. She made a mental note of the exact measuremants and resolved to try to make it again at some point over Christmas break, or more accurately, have one of the elves do it. She felt surprisingly irritated at the idea of having an elf do it for her. In the short time, she'd been at Hogwarts, she'd come to rather like doing things herself. That wasn't even a possibility at home. If Anastasia so much as fastened her own shoes and her parents found out, it resulted in a harsh scolding for her, and something far worse for the poor elf whose job it was.
Professor RisaAnastasia snapped back from her thoughts about butterbeer and elves when she heard the voice of the Slytherin Head of House. Her cheeks flushed a bit when she realized the History of Magic Professor had been there and she'd pretty much ignored her. They had met before, but it was still most unseemly to not speak to Professor like she'd been doing. She'd have to rectify that now.
In all of her excitement about butterbeer and then her delight with the good taste, she hadn't acknowledged the History of Magic professor at all. How silly of her! "Hello there, Professor!" she said brightly, hoping to make up for having not spoken to her sooner. "Lovely to see you! How are you doing this lovely autumn day?"
Long story short, I survived
