Ponderings and Predicaments
He watched the woman stalk off, and felt just a little bit happier. That was one more nuisance of a professor that would henceforth not come to him for aid or advice. One more person that wouldn't bother him, and that he, in turn, wouldn't bother either. His hands felt the smooth, thick leather of his coat, and slipped into the large pockets. Far larger on the inside, he petted the head of the large beast that was sleeping inside the odd compartment. He felt gretchen land on his finger, and smiled.
Sure, you couldn't teach a whomping willow to stop it's whomping ways, but would you want to? From his point of view, that would just make it a willow, and there were plenty of willows all over the place, there was nothing special about them. But he supposed that was what the woman wanted. Willows that fought back had no place in her soft, muggle infested world. Full of that elusive peace her kind seemed to think would come about if only the muggles and wizards accepted one another. All of that was garbage.
The way to survive was not laying down your arms, but hiding from those your opponent wields, while sharpening your own. He waited until the bright red professor vanished from his sight, and then turned to head back to the stables. Refuge awaited him, as did a snack that he had put in his desk earlier. Unless he had already eaten it, in which case he was going to have to be quite cross with himself.
