Irina bit her lip and tilted her head, staring between an open potions book and a small cauldron, with a vibrant purple liquid bubbling sluggishly, large bubble slwoly forming and bursting. Irina absent mindedly pulled at a strand of her hair and chewed on it thoughtfully. According to the recipe, it was meant to be turning a dull red and boiling consistently. She studied the potions book again, trying to ignore her sister's voice drifting in and out of her brain.
'This is what happens when you attempt potions you haven't been taught yet! It's way above your ability.'
Irina had borrowed the book from Idril a few days ago, along with some of the potion ingredients that Irina herself wasn't allowed. She had scoffed at the idea that the potion was ' above her ability' and eagerly attempted it - who wouldn't want the ability to breathe fire on command! Once she had gathered all the equipment, she needed somewhere quiet and secluded to have a go.
She was in the abandoned toilets; the perfect place for dying your hair, practicing spells, meeting with friends to discuss private matters . . . and attempting to create potions that First Years were definitely not allowed to attempt. The toilet was perfect for Irina's experiment - fairly private and unknown to teachers (as far as she knew). Aware that a potion brewing area had to have certain requirements, she had thouroughly scoured a patch of floor in one of the stalls(digusting work but something that needed doing) and even set up an adjusatble fire beneath her cauldron! 'This is gonna go great,' she had thought, before eagerly reaching for the first ingredient.
An hour and a half in and her optimistic approach was turning sour. Despite following the instructions carefully, the viscosity, colour and smell were all wrong! And now she didn't know what wand action she was meant to do or what it meant by 'medium temperature'.She gave a tiny growl of frustration and stood up, pacing up and down the cracked tiled floors before kicking one of the stalls angrily to release some of her anger. Patience had never been her strong point. While wearing gloves, add 2 sprigs of Peppermint and 1 Fire Seed to the cauldron
Brew on low heat for about 60 minutes until incorporated
Chop the ginger root into pieces and add to mortar
Grind the ginger until it’s a smooth paste
Add paste to the cauldron
Stir 5 times, anti-clockwise
Heat to medium temperature
Slowly add 1 jar of honey
Stir 5 times, clockwise
Wave wand and wait for 10 - 25 minutes
Crush 4 sprigs of lavender in the mortar and add to cauldron
Add 1 tablespoon of Flobberworm Mucus to thicken the potion
Stir 3 times, anti-clockwise
Turn off the heat
Wave your wand to complete the potion
She stopped, listening intently as she heard a footsteps nearing the bathroom. "Dungbombs," she muttered, standing in front of the stall in which the potion was now cheerfully popping and squeaking, in a vague attempt to hide it.
I don't have a train of thought. I have 7 trains on 4 tracks, all narrowly avoiding each other when the paths cross, all the passengers are screaming and there's that annoyingly calm female conductors voice in the background.

André was walking through the hallways, on his way to the courtyard were he would work on a bit if homework that was going to be due soon. He was pretty sure he knew how to do it, he was confident in his charm work. He was just a procrastinator who didn't like to do homework, which was reflected in his grades. Mainly A's and a few E's in classes that he actually liked. He really needed to work on studying...
As he reached one of the doors, a room he had been in before when Aisley had helped him dyed his hair. The Abandoned Toilets, he heard a loud bang. Or crash. Or a slam? It was a loud noise. It may have been the hufflepuff in him, or just he was that great of a person but a part of him thought that someone may have fallen and hurt themselves, he pushed open the door of the room and just found a girl.
She really looked fine. It was a bit odd as she was just standing in front of a stall. Hopelessly confused he walked forward, the stall was making noise. "hello? Are you hiding something... " he questioned. He was a bit taller then the girl, on his tip toes he could almost see something. "Are you brewing a potion? Epic! Let me help." He smiled and let the enchanted satchel fall off his shoulder. On to the less then clean floor.

The toilet door opened and a Hufflepuff boy, slightly taller than she was, walked in, a concerned and confused expression etched across his face. He had curly, black hair that bounced slightly as he walked along. Irina instinctively liked this guy, who looked to be a first year as well, but proceeded to block his view of the cauldron, reguardless of her first impression.
He peered over her shoulder ('Double dungbombs, why am I so short?') and immedietly spotted the loudly brewing potion in the cubicle behind.
"Hello? Are you hiding something ... Are you brewing a potion? Epic! Let me help."
Her eyes widened slightly in surprise as she took a moment to digest this. 'Okay, so . . . I'm not getting told off!'
"Sure," she chirped happily, moving aside to let him have a look at her disastrous attempt. "It's going pretty bad so I could use some help."
She examined him more closely, hoping to determine some more information about him, wanting to know if she really could trust him or not. She didn't have very many Hufflepuff friends and was intrigued as to what this guy was like. Was it possible she'd found a fellow trouble-maker?
"Well, uh, my name's Irina! But you can call me Rina or Reenie or something. What's your name?"
She held out her hand for the boy to shake.

The girl seemed shocked, and or surprised to see that he wanted to help, he didn't see why. He wasn't w perfect do to the lack of badge. And it was pretty obvious that he was not a professor. He was tall, but definitely not as tall as some of the professors. He was also in school robes, even more reason to not be a professor. Thankfully she appeared to have gotten over it rather quickly, stepping aside to let him have a look.
"thank you" he smiled at her. Squatting down to get a better view of it, he could definitely see what she ment. It definitely wasn't going well. Bubbling and squeaking. "I see what you mean.. Is it ment to be that color?" he asked looking over to Irena, curious on to what lead her to brew something that she probably couldn't. André would be the same, he probably couldn't brew it.
André stood up from his squat position as he heard her begin introductions. "well nice to meet you Rina! My names André, and I'm a first year hufflepuff." he smiled and took her hand in a nice shake. He looked at the bike she was using to brew. "Where'd you get this book?" He asked curiosity taking the lead. Picking up the book he did a skim Opeila the page, just so that they both knew what they would be trying to brew. He smirked when he looked at the title of the page, this would be extremely fun if it worked out!
But yeash.. Was this all off... The color, and well this loud squeaking.. Yeah it wasn't turning out. "can you tell me what you did up till now? Just so maybe we can see were things went wrong?" he asked. He didn't mean anything rude by it, it would just be for the best if they knew were stuff went wrong so they can attempt to fix it.

As the boy walked past Irina to take a closer look at the potion, he smiled at her and she smiled back. She was glad to know that her first impression of this guy seemed to be correct.
"Is it meant to be that colour?"
Irina grimaced and shook her head. "No, it's not. I think it's meant to be an orange colour. At least, that's what the book says."
Andre stood up again and held out his hand for a handshake as he introduced himself and asked where the book was from. Since they were standing in a single cubicle, it was kinda squished and Irina was once again struck by how much taller he was. She gave him a grin before standing near the cubicle door to get some space.
"It's my sister's book," she said airily, "She's in Ravenclaw, Third Year and I figured I could . . . borrow her book for a little while. Seemed easier than sneaking it out of the library."
She was happy to see a small smile across his face as he read the title, clearly just as excited as she was to brew the potion!
"Can you tell me what you did up till now? Just so maybe we can see were things went wrong?"
"Yeah sure!" Irina chirped as she moved into the cubicle again to peer over André's shoulder at the book.
"So, I added the peppermint and the fireseed and then left for a while cause I got bored. Came back after I think an hour and added the ginger after chopping and grinding it. Then I stirred it 5 times to the right. That's anti-clockwise isn't it?"
She contemplated the potion for a moment. But I haven't done anything for the past 20 minutes or so cause I've been trying to figure out what went wrong!"
