There were so many people around, the station filled with people talking, laughing, saying goodbye. Mari followed behind her parents and younger brother, pushing her cart with her luggage on it. She honestly couldn't believe the day had finally come. Hogwarts, she was really going to the famous magic school. "Dad where is the train?" she asked as she scanned the area not seeing anything like the Hogwarts Express that he had told her of.
Her father chuckled softly and placed his hand on her tiny shoulder, "We need to go to platform 9 3/4 to get to it." She looked up at him in disbelief, they had been to the train station before but she never had seen the platform he spoke of. Before she could even ask he pointed straight at a wall, "Get a running start right to that wall." "What?! Dad you're joking right?" She said and waited for him to agree but he just shook his head and took her cart and aimed it towards the wall. "Alright kiddo, do it just like I said. We will be right behind you."
This is crazy but then again it is a train going to a magical school, I should have expected a crazy entrance like this. She took a deep breath in and focused at the wall before taking a running start at it. Mari found herself going straight through and at a secret platform, Hogwarts Express right in front of her very eyes. Soon the rest of her family were joining her, her little brother pulling their mother's sleeve as he pointed at the train with amazement in his eyes. She was amazed too. Her father's story about his first trip to Hogwarts didn't do it justice. The train was huge, seemed to stretch as far as the eyes can see. "Okay, I think I have to go now, everyone else is boarding the train." Her mother hugged her tightly and she could tell she was holding back tears as she quietly sniffled. "My little baby, going off to school. I don't know what it's like there but please make sure to be careful with all the magic and potions and things." "She'll be fine Sumin, she will be just as brilliant as I was in school." Her father chuckled and rubbed her mother's back. "I don't doubt that, she is our daughter after all." Sumin said and turned back to Mari. "Just be safe, have fun and please don't forget to write, okay?" Mari nodded and hugged them both before rubbing the top of her brother's head, messing up his hair. "Be good kid," she said before grabbing her luggage to go on the train. She turned back and waved once more, mouthing 'I love you' to her parents.
As she walked through the aisle she looked in the cabins as she passed. Many were already filled up but she managed to find an empty one. She stored her luggage and took a seat, staring out the window waiting for the train to pull away so she could finally head to Hogwarts and learn magic.

Linda was preparing for this day whole time since she got a letter from Hogwarts. She already was coming to the platform 9¾ before when her brother was finishing his studying, but she was so small back then. So it was first time to get inside the train. It was a nice day with good weather, so she was wearing read T-shirt, black bolero, beige skirt and black shoes. She made part of her hair together with flower and prepared her robes to change in train quickly. "Linda it's time to go." "Coming, dad." It was really special to go finally to school. Whole her family were once in Gryffindor, although could be in Slytherin. Maybe she will be Gryffindor too? Dad as usual took a car to bring them to the station. After some time they arrived and went through the wall. Linda surely would find it strange to go through the wall, but she got used to magic, coming from pure blood family, so it was normal. After passing through the wall they saw a train. It looked so awesome. "I'll go now, I will write you letters." Linda hugged her parents and her brother and went to the train. Surely it was crowded outside but also inside, although it was a bit better without all families standing there. She wasn't late but all places were already busy. She found one where was one girl and decided to stay there. "Hi, can I sit here? My name is Linda Ramirez. What's your name?" Linda smiled to the girl thinking if they could become friends. |

Mari stared out the window and wondered what the school would be like and what the other students would be like. Another girl had come into the cabin to join her and as she was lost in her thoughts she almost missed what the girl had said. "Oh! Yes, of course, please sit down!" She said as she turned to face the other girl more. "It's nice to meet you Linda, I'm Mari Hughes. Is it your first time to Hogwarts as well?" She asked the girl as the train began moving. "Finally on our way to Hogwarts, I have heard so many stories from my father about it but it always felt like it was just that, a story, well.. until today it finally feels real now." Mari chuckled softly as she realized she was rambling on to the girl she just met. As they sat talking a lady came to the cabin offering up a whole cart full of treats to them, most of it Mari had never heard of. There was one thing she knew of from her father and she was excited to see it there. "Can I get a chocolate frog please?" She asked the lady. When she was handed it she didn't hesitate to open it and see what she got. "Oh wow! I got Wendelin the Weird!" She said to Linda and quickly held up the card to show her.

"Nice to meet you, Mari. Yeah, I'm also going to be first year. Are you excited to start studying?" Linda smiled while sitting down close to Mari and putting her things close to her. "I heard a lot from my parents and older brother. It always sounded so interesting, I already saw Hogwarts express before, but I never was inside and never went to Hogwarts itself. So now finally my turn to be here and become a student." Linda smiled enthusiastically. She didn't find all that stories unreal as she was always surrounded by magic. But she always envied her brother. When she was small, she was always told she'll go there when she will grow up a bit. So every year she was listening to it till her brother graduated and now she was on her way to Hogwarts. When a lady came in offering sweets, Linda decided to buy a bit more. She liked sweets and knew for sure, she'll have to wait till she could go to Hogsmead. "Can I have three chocolate frogs, Bertie Botts' Every Flavour Bean, cauldron cake and pumpkin pastry?" These were here favorite sweets from what she could see. "Oh, that's great. I got Hermione Granger." Linda opened one of her frogs and showed to Mari. She wanted to eat others later, so for now she could say only about one card. |

Mari smiled at the girl, listening as she spoke of her family and what she knew of the Hogwarts Express and Hogwarts. Mari was slightly jealous that the girl got to have some experiences before while Mari had lived among the regular non-magic people her whole life until now. She wondered if other half-bloods at Hogwarts had a similar experience, not knowing much of the magic world and basically having a foot in both worlds, the magic and non-magic world. "That is really cool that you have an older sibling who was able to tell you about so many things. I have a younger brother so I hope I can do the same for him and tell him lots of stories and what to look forward to when he comes to Hogwarts in a few years." She gave a soft smile as she talked about her family, they had barely left and she already missed them. When the girl held up the card she got from her first chocolate frog, Mari's thoughts shifted to thinking of the stories she had heard of Hermoine and the other famous wizards who fought for Hogwarts. "That's amazing, what a great card to pull! I hope I can collect a bunch of these." Mari looked at the girl's card before looking down at her own, will it be possible to collect them all?
She put her card into her jacket pocket and looked out the train window. Beautiful landscapes rushed by as they sped along to Hogwarts. "What do you think it will be like? From my father's stories he said it was a large beautiful and magical castle. What house do you think you will be placed in? I know my father was in Gryffindor, my aunt in Ravenclaw, I don't know where I will end up." She rambled on to the girl across from her as her mind went a thousand directions.

"You will surely be able to let him know everything he needs to know, don't worry." Linda smiled. She knew Mari probably felt a bit jealous but surely she will be a great big sister for her brother. "I can share with you what I know if you have something you want to know about." It was good to offer it, right?
"Oh, it's just a beginning but I'm sure you will collect them all, only if you want." Linda smiled. Her family were all collecting cards but she always wanted to have her own collection too.
"Oh, as my family told me, castle is really awesome, wait me, I had a picture of it. Here, my brother painted it for me when he was studying. I don't think it changed much since that time. Also he said it feels like home there. Mostly everyone is willing to help you with whatever you need. So I am expecting it to be really special 7 years. As for sorting, maybe Gryffindor as whole close family. Maybe something else, I have a lot in my character, I don't know about brave, but I like knowledge, I don't think I could be Slytherin, but maybe I could. But we will know it soon. Anyway I think we could be friends whatever house we are."
