A relentlessly ruthless military commander and front line combatant. He had no badges of honour to show off on this stash, but his build wouldn’t encourage anyone to carelessly mess with him, if they wanted to. Such is the fate of someone with a naturally intimidating aura. His clothes only enhanced what was already intimidating about him. His hair kept its usual buzz cut, but it seemed he had let it grow up a tad bit. The only eye-catching thing ( apart from his heart racing features ) is the red stash across his chest. It being the only thing that didn’t seem to follow the dark colour scheme he was going for. His stance and posture look confident as he walks around, but he was anything but.

His sunglasses tucked between the fabric of his chest pocket.

He didn’t know how many time had passed since he was so engrossed with the jumping mushrooms. Sara merely followed them until they led him to an unfamiliar path. Not that he minded solitude. Some may feel uneasy entering a maze alone. Not him, no. If there were more mazes in his home town, he knew he would venture into them more. Satisfying his curiosity was not the goal. But rather, the peaceful quiet he was granted. No people he feared he would scare off. No twisting his brain just to form coherent sentences. Just peace.

However, it was not that he didn’t enjoy anyone else’s presence. So it didn’t upset him that much that another girl seemed to be in the same area as him. Was she led by the jumping mushrooms? She was short, as most people considering he was much taller than most already. Blonde little girl, whose features he was uncertain of as she’s still a considerable distance from him.

She seemed to be talking to someone, but Sara looked around and there was no one near their vicinities but them. When the flowers seemed to have caught her attention, Sara managed to suppress a deep frown. If she were to give him a glance, she would only be greeted with the usual resting frown he already had. Flowers. Flowers. It’s always frigging flowers.

Still, he took a deep breath. They were merely apart of nature after all. Since she was talking to them, he had the urge to suggest she used a different language. It’s weird with these magical plants and creatures. He had once met a chess piece who spoke french. Maybe the flowers (as blasted as they are) preferred another language. Alas, he was timid about striking up a conversation first. He took a while just shifting uncomfortably where he stood, gathering up the courage like a loading screen.

The quip Annika throws his way draws forth a quiet scoff and his own smile drops away. Kolya had long ago felt the regret of agreeing to this, and so far this night was only serving to solidifying that feeling. He hadn't quite accounted for just on edge stepping foot on the grounds of Hogwarts once again might leave him. Now, the unrest was morphing into irritation. "Wow. I didn't realize you were a comedian too. Lucky me," he retorts, the last bit mumbled more to himself than his 'date'. The boy catches sight of the smirk Annika has taken up and promptly rolls his eyes.

There's a brief flicker of a desire to allow a smirk of his own to break free at the banter. The urge is promptly thrown on the floor and repeatedly trampled. Nope. Not doing that. Luck is briefly on his side, at least, when Annika finally moves to enter the maze. Kolya shoves his hands into the pockets of his trousers and moves to trail after her. He only slows his pace when she stops to look closer at the various flowers and plants that litter the walkways of the maze, pointedly sighing in exasperation each time. Not that he was going to admit to taking his own pause to peer at the plants once she moved on from them.

"You know," he starts after some time, craning his neck to peer up at the sky still visible between the leafy walls, "I really thought we'd be there by now. This maze can't be-" The teasing breaks off abruptly as he nearly collides with Annika on her sudden turn. Both hands whip up between them as if to brace, though he's not sure if the intention was to brace himself or her to try and avoid the collision. Momentarily stunned into silence with the suddenness of it all, Kolya simply blinks up at the girl and the abrupt proximity. Ah, there's the usual flicker of annoyance about the height difference.

It takes a moment to kick his brain back into gear. The sarcastic question does wonders when it comes to overcoming the surprise. Kolya takes a quick survey of where they've wandered, noting the dead end Annika led them to. Now that brings the amused smirk back. "Damn, guess my faith in your guidance was misplaced," he snickers. Not that he has any idea where they are or where to go. He'll take the small joys of it all regardless. The boy pivots and starts back the way they came, looking for a different path to take. He doesn't wait to see if Annika follows, simply waving over his shoulder for her to follow. "And thanks, didn't realize you thought so highly of my intelligence. I'll be sure to keep that in mind for future reference." The teasing lilt to his voice has returned as he aimlessly wanders back into the heart of the maze. Surely pure luck would be on his side here, right? This maze couldn't be that hard to navigate.

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
Upon Valentin's torrent of a response to his attempt at reassurance, Ginyami was taken aback. He understood the importance of being held accountable for one's mistakes, but he was still having trouble understanding just what Valentin thought he could have done better. "What plan could you have made without knowing what was going to happen? How could you have asked for help if you were asked to come alone?" He tried to understand, but he didn't see how Valentin had been stupid or selfish. It wasn't as though he had asked Romeo or himself to come. Perhaps they could have made a plan depending on if Valentin's meeting with his father had gone wrong? Was that what he had meant? "If I had died, my death would not have been your fault nor your responsibility. I chose to do what I did," he tried to reiterate, still not seeing how Valentin thought he was to blame. "You didn't control my actions."

And then there was the situation with Amina and being told he didn't understand. In truth, this was the part Ginyami thought he did understand. Perhaps he had been dwelling on the wrong parts when addressing it, however. "And if you were able to protect what belongs to whom you love, what would you have done just now?" he wanted to know. "Not everything can be prevented. You can only do what you can and that is what you have been doing all this time. Who can ask for more than that?" Those mithril-amethyst eyes shining with tears cut into Ginyami's heart, but he didn't seem to have the words to quell them. Even as those tears dropped from said eyes and down his sharp jawline.

Romeo did, though. He told the seeker that he wouldn't have done any different and how Valentin had only done what he could think to do in that situation. The Japanese boy watched as the Turkic one slowly seemed soothed by what Romeo had to say. How if someone really loved him, he wouldn't care about what he could give them materially. Ginyami bit his lip and looked up to stare at Romeo as his peer continued speaking. Had he really turned Valentin's confession down? Because at that moment, he certainly didn't sound like he would have.

Bitterness and what was probably jealousy manifested as a thick knot at the pit of Ginyami's stomach. Why didn't he know what to say when it mattered? Was it that Romeo and Valentin really knew each other that well; that they had that sort of chemistry that he and Valentin didn't? Even Valentin didn't seem to know what to say in response to Romeo's beautiful speech.

It was only when Romeo went on to say that Valentin hadn't failed them that the seeker spoke up in protest again. He spoke of how he had failed Romeo; about how he had been trying like hell to get over him and in his attempt to respect him he had to 'go and ruin the silent memorial of his feelings forever'. He said that he finally did let go of him for him and that he would never forgive himself for it. Ginyami's brows creased in confusion and distress under the shadow of his helmet.

“...Amina's theft was nothing compared to the one I freely gave away. I gave what was not mine to give, and now it is gone. Understand me, please. I have failed you, Romeo, and I am sorry..."

Wait... Was Valentin talking about what Ginyami thought he was talking about? Did he mean the kiss he had freely given to Ginyami? The noiret's chest tightened painfully, but he didn't know if he had the heart to confirm such a thing. The more Valentin talked, however, the more Ginyami became sure of it.

"So you only kissed me to make me happy without any thought to your own happiness?" he asked quietly, a small, joyless smile painfully tightening his lips. "Well...that certainly does sound like you. I merely thought...fool that I am...that perhaps you might have been happy with it, too. But how would you be able to put away a love that you have harbored for so many years so easily? Why did I believe no one else really had your heart when you told me so?" A hollow laugh escaped him. "I suppose that is where my naivety is my folly..."

He shifted to face the Roman soldier. "Yes, what is it you want, Romeo? Please, enlighten us. Because what I have witnessed and heard from you have greatly contrasted with what I have been told second-hand about that particular subject."

The stage had been as night time fell, the shadows loomed as the last ray of light had disappeared, leaving nothing but a dark path between the tall green hedges that seemed to quiver. The signs that were once the guides to the poor lost souls within had been slowly disappearing one by one, getting consumed by the ivy and shrubberies that continue to grow oh so subtly that one might not even notice it. There was something in the atmosphere that's beginning to change as it goes deeper into the night although it could just be the maze being its mischievous self with how it likes to trip it's unsuspecting. The once tamed plants within the walls were starting to get a little active as if being woken up from a deep slumber. There's also an unknown danger lurking around, using the shadows as a cover, waiting for the right time to strike its first victim, ready to cause harm not only to them, but to everyone else that might cross its path. People came here to have a good time but they sure didn't sign up for danger. With how the previous Hogwarts Balls had turned out though, perhaps this time, they were ready for things to go haywire.

The grudge held by death against humanity was growing at an inconceivable clip as the night crept farther into the horizon and the anguish of the death scowled at those for whom it felt time had run out.
The fact that children were innocent enraged the grim reaper, who believed that death was the only way to escape from everything visible and invisible. As mentioned, the maze began to quiver somewhat as the temperature dropped.

I have my eyes on you

Unseen hawk eyes were keeping a close eye on each person throughout the entire event at the maze. This situation was similar to how they claim that the person above watches over us regardless of the number. Something was lingering in the shadows, almost imperceptible due to the darkness, having been conceived by mother nature herself and growing into a particular shape, the flower bloomed in the maze but was seen not seen taking shape due to the dense darkness, it wasn't simply a regular bloom; Or was it?

The wise man

The wise man was now the title of @Jack Burnett, seems like his attempt to set the torch on fire, the spell was cast successfully cast, this enabled him the opportunity to actively have fire that will lit up his path. The flower that remained unseen for the rest has actually bloomed at Jack's sight, with his partner being along the side, these were the luckiest for the night, although were they really lucky?

Now it begins!!

With the flower in its final form, bloomed and reacting to the night, there was an unexpected bursts in all the spores of the flowers that were situated in the maze and vapour that swiftly propagated throughout the labyrinth engulfing it. Because each path had just one of the "Puffapods" plant, everyone had been affected of dizziness if counter measures were not taken in time. The stage is theirs to utilise, thus Hogwarts was expected to protect itself from such catastrophe. @Dealla Prince and her companion Theodore Duncan (@Opeila Winters) were bound to run into their own as they made their way through the maze. The pair came across one of the mystical plants known as Leaping Toadstool . Nothing was particularly vivid at the time as the way darkened. One move and they are bound to fall, it leaped close to their foot. Unfortunately, they had to deal with two problems that evening. The wood nymph, @Marietta Griffis and her companion @Avery Leveret would have shared the same fate as Dealla and Theodore. Time was running out at that moment and everyone had to defend and fight for survival at all cost. The enchanted maze that seemed beautiful by the day has turned malicious at night. All will be disclosed in due time, including whether or not everyone will survive the calamity that has struck and the famine that has overtaken the area. Everyone shall know what is pain, everyone shall see what pain looks like, now their destiny and survival all depends on them. Tick Tock Tick Tock, time is of the essence at this hour.

Valentin,” whispered Maila. „Whatever is making you feel this way, whoever has hurt you like this, whoever has made you feel as if you aren't worthy of love… It is not your fault. They were in the wrong.” As Maila laid her hand on Valentin’s shoulder, the white seeker closed his eyes and tilted his head towards her hand, looking altogether like a cat craving its humans’ touch. It didn’t matter to Valentin that they were such new friends: they’d been able to bond in the deep, transcendental realm created by music where it was possible to sense one another’s fundamental spirit. That there were ways of becoming closer to Valentin that were faster than others was demonstrated by those associates who had “known” Val for years but only on the most superficial of levels, earning little of his trust. For Valentin, it only made sense that a connection of souls could go fast, even if it took time to explore others’ finer details and complexities to the fuller extent people deserved.

“Thank you, Maila. Your words are insightful. It seems that even though my father is gone, I’m still trying to prove myself worthy of his love anyway. I can’t fault him for having held such high standards of me, since he always just wanted me to soar higher and higher… Mm, he wanted the best for me, it’s just… when it comes to my friends’ lives, I can’t tolerate mistakes. In a single gust of wind, a life could be extinguished forever, and I am responsible for my influence even when I didn’t specifically ask someone to lay their life on the line. I do want to be worthy of love, of the great faith that people put in me, and this is exactly why I can’t fail them. If Ginyami and Romeo had died because of my reckless behavior, I wouldn’t have deserved their trust. You’re right that I want to feel worthy of love, and I intend to earn it, especially because this will protect those who believe in me.” Draping his hand over hers atop his shoulder, Valentin smiled through the held-in tears before turning to respond to Ginyami. He was beginning to feel just a bit better at least.

Valentin had no defense about the specifics of how his plan should have been better in Germany, but it was not because he hadn’t tortured himself over that very question for several months on end. It was precisely because he could have written a 10-foot essay about those mistakes that he didn’t feel like they had time to get into it now. His choice of inventory, the length of time he allotted before people would know he needed help, the lack of team strategizing and asking for advice, and on and on and on… All Valya could do was shake his head at the sheer quantity of errors he’d committed in haste. As for Amina’s kiss… well, he hadn’t even tried to avoid it. It wasn’t as if the white lightning was too slow to at least attempt dodging; he'd watched it happen out of a mixture of trust and curiosity about his chaser’s intentions, letting Amina just be herself. Only in retrospect did he realize that his lack of defenses affected more than himself.

"Not everything can be prevented. You can only do what you can and that is what you have been doing all this time. Who can ask for more than that?" concluded Ginyami.

“There was so much I could have done, Yamushka, if only I’d taken the opportunity. Even if I couldn’t tell you a hundred things I could have done differently, that would only mean that I need to open my mind to any of ten thousand more ways I could have done better. Humility is the way to true strength, kaderlem, and this proves that I still have so much room to grow. It’s okay. I’ve eaten bigger crashes than this. The problem is when I drag you down with me, intentionally or not. The whole point of me learning to shoulder the damage is for dear ones like you, after all.” Valentin also explained to Romeo another regret of his: not having found a proper solution for whom to give his heart.

“I have failed you, Romeo, and I am sorry. Believe me, I respect your decision from last summer; I always will, so… I tried. I thought I could show myself a truth I was denying, that someone else should have me. It felt selfish to reserve for no one, as some monument, something that could make someone else happy, make Ginyami happy. At least one person should come out of this with what he wants, right? How many nights have I failed to sleep under that torturous blinding question – should I just let him just take me away, or have I committed sacrilege? I just don't know what's right anymore. Please, someone… just tell me what you really want. ”

"So you only kissed me to make me happy without any thought to your own happiness?" asked Ginyami. It never ceased to baffle Valentin how the Japanese boy could maintain such a constant smile even when it was obviously devoid of happiness. "Well...that certainly does sound like you. I merely thought...fool that I am...that perhaps you might have been happy with it, too. But how would you be able to put away a love that you have harbored for so many years so easily? Why did I believe no one else really had your heart when you told me so?" Ginyami's laugh fell hollow like discarded, broken glass. "I suppose that is where my naivety is my folly..."

“Why… why can’t people understand? My ultimate happiness would be one in unity, where my beloved’s happiness is not separate from my own. What is the purpose of such divisions when love yearns for harmony and divine unification? Why must I consider my happiness as separate, especially when showing love with a kiss? Perhaps Amina was right to do as she did, and I am over-sentimental in trying to keep a private reserve for one person. Maybe she is more enlightened than all of us. As for how I was able to let Romeo go, it was precisely because I loved him that I accepted that I could never have him. If he will live out his most transcendent life without me, then that shall have to be the shape of my happiness. As for putting away my love ‘easily’… it was not so.” Although Ginyami hadn't known Valentin well when they'd interacted in the dining hall and at the Halloween Bash, the seeker was in such dire straits at the time that he'd had a public emotional meltdown at the former and almost passed out at the latter. “You know not the price it has cost me, and such arrogance blinds you to the reality of who and what I am. You believed me when I said no one else held my heart because it was the truth. Part of me died that day. It saddens me that your love does not grow in such hard-won ashes. Your naiveté was not in believing me, but instead lies in your reluctance to see that indeed I speak the truth.”

How long had passed?
The fact that Ava was still standing at the entrance waiting for something to happen showed how much she actually wanted to be here.

In truth, she had spent the larger side of at least 20 minutes debating whether she should step foot into the innocent-looking maze. She was leaning heavily towards ‘no’. There were multiple reasons for her choice, the main one being that she didn’t know any here. Why would she enter a ball so that she could hang out alone? No, she would rather go back to her dorm and cozy up with a book, probably staying up late into the night to finish it.

Most everyone had already entered the maze, and she was one of the few still at the entrance. With a heavy sigh, she leaned against the wall of the maze, feeling the cool of the leaves on her back. She closed her eyes briefly, allowing her a moment to think deeper without the distraction of everything in front of her eyes.

Her dress hung heavily from her waist, and she grabbed it in a bunch in her left hand, using her right hand to readjust the flower crown on top of her head.

She didn’t want to have dressed up just to go back and get back into her normal clothes, that would be pointless. Maybe she could go and wander around the castle? No, that was boring. Anyway, anyone she encountered would probably think she was making trouble. She did have a certain reputation for being one, after all.

thankfully this was the girl who called out, and she seemed fairly nice! "its French, my mom's from France so I got a French name. Unlike my sister who was named after my grandmother in my dads side, so her names Russian" he smiled. It was always nice to talk about his family. As he was proud of were he came form, his parents were his favorite people, his mother helped him learn how to bake, and his father was the one André aspired to be. So yeah. He would gladly talk about were he was from.

He nodded thankful he wouldn't be alone, "Yes! I would love to navigate with you! Let's just hope its easier" he laughed. As long as he didn't lead the way, they should have a chance of making put before the next school year. Trying to pass some time André would ask some questions, just to get to know Hannah a bit better. "Soooo... Hannah.. Whats your year and house?" he asked as they walked.

By now it was getting late, and what came with time was darkness. They maze was getting darker. Figuring that this was a smart idea, he grabbed his Aspen wood wand, and attempted to cast Lumos.

The maze. It was actually kind of scary for me. I held Mathias’ hand as we took the twists and turns through the maze. When we hit a dead end, we would just turn and and continue through the maze. I was very careful to not touch anything because well, pretty much anything could be a portkey. And I had plans to stay at Hogwarts for the rest of the year, and I wanted to go to the summer camp too, so I did not touch anything.

My dress that mum had packed me in my trunk was.. erm intresting. It did not look great on me. If I had light ginger hair, or even strawberry blond hair, it would have looked so much better. But sadly, I did not have either of them, so me and my dark brown hair, wore the stupid dress with the stupid hat to protect my dhapmir skin from the sun.

We kept twisting and turning through the tall hedge maze. The sun had gone down slowly, and it had become darker in the already dark maze. I did not want anything to happen to me or Mathias, so we continued on through the maze. Finally I spotted the exit. “There it is!” I exclaimed, and pulled him out the gap into the open on the other side of the maze.

We had made it to the banquet.

"No worries," Zendra replied, squeezing his hand, "You have a very nice voice to listen to." The compliment sent a warm feeling through Achille, and he was thankful that he didn't blush easily, because his cheeks certainly felt warm enough.

"Oh, look!" Achille's gaze followed Zendra's finger as she pointed with her free hand towards what appeared to be the maze's exit, and he returned her enthusiasm with that of his own.

"Come on," He grinned, squeezing Zendra's hand before moving forward and gently pulling her with him. "Before we get lost again,"

Coming from a very muggle background, the Enchanted Maze was unlike anything Achille might have possibly been expecting. Certainly he didn't expect to feel like he was making his way through Daedalus's labyrinth, but he was just glad to reach the end. The real fun would begin at the Banquet Hall for Achille. Not only did he now have Zendra as a companion to spend the evening with, but he'd also have the opportunity to meet so many other people, too!

Though, Achille thought as he glanced down at the petite Beauxbatons girl next to him, if that endeavor failed, he'd be quite content anyways. He was intrigued to learn more about Zendra, as se was currently very much a mystery. He couldn't exactly explain it, but he felt drawn to Zendra, like they were meant to meet. To find each other in the maze..

Sure enough, Zendra had correctly identified the exit, and Achille mumbled a brief thank you to the maze as he stepped out of its borders and into those of the Banquet.

That wasn't so bad, he mused, glancing back at the maze. It was honestly better than he'd expected.

The maze had become darker. The night seemed to come alive. And it seemed that Angelique was trying to convince herself that her mind was playing tricks, and the occasional slip of her foot or an eerie rumble. The blond girl said to herself firmly that this was not real, just nightmares of the dark. But that didn't stop her from casting anxious looks around her, as if half expecting a hooded figure with a knife.

The third time she felt the ground under her move slightly, she gave a small gasp and clung onto Lloyd's arm without thinking. She now longed to go towards the source of the noise; the laughter, chatter and music that seemed just out of reach. But it also seemed that Angelique was just out of reach of a pair of hands also....

She whipped her head around anxiously. She saw her own shadow stare back at her, as though alive. But no, it couldn't be. Even in the world that vampires and ghosts lived in, shadows were not alive. Nor did they have a personality. And that was when she saw a luminous silhouette, body that shook unnaturally, hands that stretched further and longer than any human being -

And the shadow was the last thing she saw.
