We are the dancers, we create the dreams. (Albert Einstein)
Maverick felt both excited and nervous, but mostly the former. From the first week he arrived at Hogwarts, he had had his heart set on joining a dancing club. There had been no active one, but after a few months of getting used to know how things worked around the boarding school, the Gryffindor figured he could take over and reactive the group.
Sure it would be hard work, in particular since it was his first time running and leading an association, but Maverick was unafraid. (There had to be a reason for him to be put in Gryffindor, did it not?) He considered he could ask for a vice-president if needed, and perhaps also a treasurer so their club would be just like a real, formally registered afterschool club, but at the moment he would put this idea on the back burner. One step at the time!
This Saturday was their first meeting, but there would be no dancing lesson. Today was reserved for getting to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere; Maverick had even made sure there were enough sandwiches (different variants available, to cater to people's preferences), fruit juice in bottles (ditto), and good ol' water for everyone to enjoy.
"Welcome!" he would greet those who entered, motioning them to the food and beverage table to take whatever they choose. And when the clock showed five, "Thank you for considering joining On Pointe Dance Club, people! As this is our first time meeting as a circle of dance enthusiasts, I'd like us to get to know each other. Please tell your fellow club members your preferred name, types of dances you like, and your dancing experience; more information are allowed if you wish to. And don't forget to enjoy your sandwich and drinks!
"My name is Castle and I will be your host today, as well as the club leader for the following months. My grandparents started teaching me to do partner dances since I was three or four, but I like so many traditional or folk dances originated from Europe and Latin America."

On Saturday evening, Zach stood inside the Rehearsal Room for his club meeting with the On Pointe Dance Club. Earlier, while he was contemplating by the Great Lake as usual, he somewhat regretted why he decided to join this dance club. He spent most of his time alone and preferred it that way. However, Maverick, the club president, had a strong influence on Zach's decision with his appearance. Now, he stood in the Rehearsal Room with the other club members.
There were sandwiches, fruit juice in bottles, and water in the room. Then, Maverick began his impressive opening speech, that once again captivated Zach by his appearance. He closed his opening by instructing all club members to introduce themselves, with him being the first to do so. After Maverick introduced himself, Zach took the initiative to introduce himself next, thinking that quicker is better.
"I'm Zach Zaphiere. You can call me Zach. I've been learning competitive ballroom dancing in both standard and Latin dances since I was five years old. My favorite dances are Tango and Rumba. I might be able to learn other dances," Zach paused for a moment to look at the people in the room. "Nice to meet you all. Hopefully, we can all get along with each other," he concluded with an awkward smile. Zach could feel himself a little bit sweating because he was nervous speaking in front of many people. He covered up his nervousness by taking a piece of sandwich and eating it slowly while listening the next person's introduction.

| ─── | It was Saturday, April 29th, 2023.
A sigh escaped his lips as Kim stared up at the ceiling of his room. Once again, he'd been unable to sleep. He checked the time. It was around an hour before the first On Pointe Dance Club meeting was supposed to take place. Kim thought for a few seconds and then got himself up to head down to the kitchens. Quickly whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, with the vanilla extract from Bailey's grandmother, Kim placed the hot cookies into a container and placed the container into his satchel. Going back up to the dorm, a little exercise didn't hurt anyone, the purple haired teen sought out an outfit to wear to the club's meeting. It was a dancing club, so naturally it should be an outfit that didn't restrict movement. The purple haired teen eventually decided to wear a short sleeved black shirt with swashes of color, resembling paintbrush strokes, on it and matching black pants. A pair of hoop earrings could be seen around his earlobes and his usual diamond pride bracelet along with a plain silver chain bracelet was wrapped around his right wrist. To complete the look, a mood ring also graced his right forefinger. Kim originally wasn't going to bring his pet. But Puffie wouldn't leave him alone. Lately, it seemed as if Puffie wanted to be with him even more than usual for some reason. And Kim couldn't resist his pleading looks, something Puffie seemed to realize and took advantage of all the time. "Alright, fine. Hop on my shoulder. You have three seconds or I'm going without you." Kim told him and the pink puffball immediately hopped onto his shoulder. The purple haired teen slung the satchel's strap over his free shoulder and headed off to the Rehearsal Room where the meeting was supposed to take place. Upon reaching his destination, being around ten minutes early, Kim opened the room's door. To see two people already inside. Kim had seen both boys before but hadn't actually ever met either of them. But he did know their names. He'd heard them in passing through the hallways and around the castle in general. Maverick introduced himself as the leader and Kim inclined his head towards him. "Yo." He said, giving his trademark greeting to him. The purple haired teen raised a hand into the air and lowered it a moment later. Glancing over at the other boy, Kim let his blue eyes flicker over him. Zach was Asian as well. He nodded to Zach. Kim saw the table with the sandwiches, fruit juices and water and went over to that particular area. Reaching into his own satchel, he produced the container of chocolate chip cookies he'd made earlier. Setting it down onto the table and taking the lid off, Kim looked over at Maverick. "I hope you don't mind I brought some homemade chocolate chip cookies for everyone." It was kind of his thing that he'd always done when attending club meetings. Bailey also had picked up his little habit. He came back over and leaned up against a nearby desk, away from the main area. He was still in the area, just not in the main area. So if anyone was to come over to gather, his current position was not the easiest place to go to. Therefore, if someone did go over to his area, it would be on purpose. After all, Kim intentionally chose places where he wouldn't end up getting too crowded. As Maverick went ahead and spoke, letting them know what to expect from the first meeting, Kim nodded. Castle went ahead and gave them his own information and Zach followed. The latter seemed a little nervous and Kim felt as if the boy was similar in nature to him. How nice. As in, he felt bad for him. If he was the same as him. To have to suffer from social anxiety conditions was unfortunate, to say the least. But Kim could also be wrong about this. Zach might just be nervous because he didn't know anyone. He might open up and relax later on. Only time would tell what the cause of Zach's nervousness was. It was finally time for him to speak, the last one. "Yo. I'm Kim. I like all types of dance but am most skilled and interested in kpop style dances. It's actually one of my goals for the future to become a kpop singer and dancer. Maybe with a small group too." It was the first time he'd told anyone this. But it was related to the content of the club. "I was also forced to learn ballroom dancing for pureblood events but I don't particularly enjoy it. I joined the club because I'm interested in learning about more styles of dance, as I love learning new things. It doesn't matter what we learn, as long as it's not ballroom dancing." Kim told them and glanced over at the two boys. Since there were only two of them at the moment, would they wait for more to show up before continuing or not? Puffie squeaked from atop Kim's shoulder. He was trying to draw attention to himself, as Kim had conveniently forgotten to introduce him! "Ah, right. This is Puffie, my beloved pet." Kim said, reaching up to pet him. "He loves being pet." He added. |

Azrael Faire pushed open the door and let themselves in. Today was their first meeting for On Pointe Dance Club. They were actually quite excited. They had heard about it from the talk around the school and signed up. Their dance style was known as Hip-Hop or better in the muggle world as "Street Dancing". They had decided to wear their normal Karl Jacobs crop-top hoodie, a Markiplier tank top underneath, black leggings, and white tennis shoes to the meeting. They couldn't go to wrong with that could they? They listened to what Maverick Castle had to say. They spoke up after he had finished. "Hi. My name is Azrael Faire, I prefer they/them pronouns, and my Aunt runs a dance studio in Galway and taught me to do Hip-Hop, better known as Street Dancing. I have been in two competitions and won one. I hope we can all grow to be friends." They said calmly. Even though they were absolutely freaking out on the inside. They wondered what was going to happen. It was a dance club and they had brought one of their favorite vinyl's to play. Naturally they stayed more in the pop/hip-hop area due to their dance style. They analyzed the room around them, the room was filled with excitement and nerves. Both of which were very understandable. "I also brought a few vinyl's with me if you guys wanna check them out- They're mostly muggle music though. They have a lot of cool things to share with Wizards though." They said, hoping to break some of the tension.
"If the men find out we can shapeshift, they are GOING TO TELL THE CHURCH!"

Entering the room.
The Rehearsal Room had become practically a second home to Simon Kincaid over his years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but this particular Saturday it wouldn't be to practice his guitar or be at the piano bench, but rather for dance. He had seen the sign up sheet for the club and wanted to surprise a particular club member with his presence.
He entered, smiling kindly to the club founder. Simon had his own club and knew how much time it took to organize this sort of thing so he appreciated the outreach of his fellow classmate. "Sounds like you'll be a right and proper teacher," he said to Maverick Castle.
His eyes scanned the room but failed to find his girlfriend, AngelFyre McCubbin. She must not be there yet. What he did see were some familiar faces of his classmates, some new that he had yet to meet, and the portraits, some who were waving enthusiastically at him to welcome back their old friend. He had provided them many hours of entertainment, especially in the late night hours. Luckily, they seemed to like his music no matter the hour and never viewed it as a nuisance.
"Hi hi, witches, wizards, and halfbreeds. Ready to get our groove on? I - I think I am," he only hesitated because his form of dancing really was just moving and grooving to what the music made him feel. He knew a few formal dances from his Aunt Maggie when they did so just for fun in the living room back in London when he was younger, but he had a feeling that everyone in the room was probably more experienced than he was. "I'm Simon Kincaid, a Third Year Hufflepuff and avid music lover. I kind of move to whatever the music makes me feel but don't have any actual dance experience."

It wasn’t the first time that Qrow Beithir had come to the rehearsal room, though, unlike the other times spent in this room, not only would the child have company, but it was also rather doubtful that they would actually be dancing this time around...

Still, the Slytherin brought their pointe shoes, tucked away in their bag, mostly in hope.
The metamorphmagus’ hair was shorter than usual, barely going past their ears, and pushed back with a thin black headband.
For their outfit, they opted for a pair of comfortable black sweatpants and a t-shirt with a quote from one of Shakespeare's plays, "Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t," that they had stolen from an older cousin.
It was obvious that the child hadn’t slept in a while, for under their eyes were bags of a much darker shade than their usual pale skin; they could hardly find it in themselves to care. However, dancing had always been an excellent outlet for them, and with their sudden withdrawal from their peers, they were in desperate need of socialisation. What better way to solve their current problems—or rather, blissfully ignore them—than to join a dance club?
When they arrived, there were many more students than the child had suspected, most of whom they didn't know. Azrael Faire was amongst them, and despite the Slytherins' silent hatred for the other student after the events of the Spring Ball, they were rather content to ignore them completely.
Soon, introductions began, starting with the leader of the club and shortly followed by other excited students.
"Hello, I’m Qrow Beithir, and my pronouns are they/them. I mostly do ballroom dancing and ballet, but I’ve been trying to teach myself other styles too..." They said, their voice clear but obviously tired.
They had almost thought about backing out, not coming at all, and laying in bed until tomorrow, but deep down, however much they hated this and wanted to hide, they knew they needed this. Maybe they’d even enjoy themselves...

@Simon Kincaid @Maverick Castle @Azrael Faire @Kim SatoAngelFyre had been looking forward to this club meeting for days. She had been talking almost non-stop about it to Simon who was likely going to be even more glad than she was when the meeting took place just so he could get some peace and quiet on the subject. She smiled to herself, knowing he really thought nothing of the sort, but she had been very animated on the subject. She loved to dance like he loved to compose his music. The boy did not know it yet, but it was a dream of AngelFyre's that she and her fellow collaborate at some point on an original piece; Simon would compose the music and she would choreograph it.... maybe even write some lyrics. He had been lately working on a gorgeous piano piece that had captured her imagination, but she had not yet approached him about her ideas. She did not think he would mind, but his music was so much of who he was... maybe he would want it to stay strictly that way.
As she pushed opened one of the heavy, wooden Rehearsal Room doors, her heart skipped a few beats. Of all the rooms in the castle, this was far and away her sentimental favorite. Their first locked gaze, their first dance, their first kiss, and their first emergence of feelings for each other all took place in this room. Yes, she loved this room and all it represented to her.
The first thing she saw when she walked in were the portrait people. She smiled and waved to them and felt like she was visiting old friends whenever she came here. They had been witness to an awful lot, both good and bad, but they were never anything but supportive. AngelFyre often wondered if they had been artists themselves, or possibly patrons of the arts in their lifetimes. Perhaps they were such now in the backdrop of their portrait lives. Who really knew? What she did know was that encouragement definitely seemed to be their forte.
The next thing she noticed, and it stopped her dead in her tracks, was Simon. No wonder she could not find him before leaving for this meeting. She knew she was smiling because that she always did when laying eyes upon him, but when he also caught sight of her, she brought her hand up to her heart and then walked towards him. "I so love that you are here. You really are the absolute best boyfriend. Probably the best in the long history of boyfriends," she said in a teasing tone, before rolling her eyes. Even though said teasingly, she meant it, and she knew he knew she really meant it. "Whatever your reason or reasons for being here, I am just glad that you are," and she delivered a quick peck to his lips.
Shortly thereafter, Maverick Castle, the club leader, made his introductory speech and asked that they all do the same. AngelFyre knew Simon and Kim, and no one else in the group, but found she was eager to experience some new dance styles she had no experience with, like the kpop style Kim mentioned and the street dancing mentioned by a student named Azrael.
She smiled to herself at Simon's introduction. He may not have any formal training, but the boy had natural rhythm, and she could attest to the fact that he could pick up and anticipate moves like a pro. Goodness knows she had put him through his paces enough times, and besides, she suspected no one present could do the moonwalk as expertly as he could.
When it was her turn, she plunged right in with a smile. "Hi, folks. I am AngelFyre McCubbin, but please call me AF. I have been dancing since the age of 6. Long before that I was a competitive gymnast. My strength was in floor exercises, but gymnastics began to fall to the wayside when I entered my first dance class. Like a few here, I started with ballet and then ballroom dancing which I still love, but I have in the last four years focused more on modern and free-form dance. I also dipped my toes into stage production choreography, but what I know of that, while amazingly fun and hard work, would not fill a thimble. In any case, I am thrilled to be here," and she slipped her hand into Simon's "and thrilled for the chance to get to know all of you and learn from you while having a ton of fun."

All right, so there were not that many people showing interests to join this club. Or at least, the number of people taking time to attend this event was not as high as Maverick had originally hoped and expected. So far, there were only six students around, seven if he counted himself. Oh well.
But maybe they could still have fun. He hoped so; one could say this event served as a promotion means for On Pointe Dance Club, and Maverick was determined not to ruin it because it would mean losing potential members. He wanted to make the best use of it so the pupils here would go out with wonderful impression and spread invitations to their friends to join as well. And if he wanted them to do so, he, as the potential club leader and today's event organiser, had to ensure they had fun here.
Everyone had finished introducing themselves, so the young Gryffindor smiled and stood up. "Thank you, everyone. It's nice to get to know all of you, and I hope you're here to stay because I sincerely want to see you around more." After that, he gestured at the food and beverage table. "It's also about dinner time and we still have lots of sandwich and drinks over there. So please feel free to grab more, enjoy your supper, and get to know each other even more - beyond names and dance experiences."
