A relatively eventful round, along with the immense fog covering both sides of the duelling stage, an extra cloud appeared above the slytherins, threatening to hit them with some lightning, although luckily it didn't. Astrea looked like she was getting closer to breaking out of that brutal Fulgari spell, with some help from Bridget, although it didn't take up too much of Bridgets concentration because she was able to dodge out of the way of Meenauhs possibly brutal water blast.

Existing plans were put on halt very quickly, because Astrea being incapacitated threw a serious wrench in them. And the fortitude of this spell wouldn't be so easily thrown off as some of its more juvenile equivalents, so Bridget turned her attention from her opponents to her teammate, willing the cords looser. Finite was basic and not a true match for the bindings but it was worth a shot. She couldn't see how much it helped, just that Astrea still wasn't free.

Bridget started to frown, then leaned out of the way of the incoming jet of water. The fog made it seem like it was just her and Astrea chipping away at the puzzle of these binds, but that wasn't the case, and she couldn't afford to take hits as well. The threatening crackle of electricity was enough, she'd rather not be sopping wet with stinging eyes.

The uneasy glow of magic holding fast even through her straining attempts to loosen her binds. As it was, even her partner’s clever aid could not force the hostage situation in which she had been cast into without warning. She was a target of hazily glowing light within the fog, a lighthouse beacon of only imminent danger and unwanted attention. Maintained if only by strategical insult, the addition of threatened storm clouds above them only added to the humiliation of imprisonment. Had Astrea been a lesser person, perhaps she would have made her distaste clear in a more obvious manner than as it was now — in mere, complete focus and disdainful stares deep into the void of fog. She would simply need to clear this hurdle before continuing further into the race of unfortunately significant inconvenience.

Alan was still quite impressed with the binding spell that Meenauh had used. The pair was struggling to even get anything like this done and it was quite funny in a way if he had to say so. Alan quite hoped it would buy them another round of them struggling like this in which Meenauh and he could secure their lead or so.

The hesitation overtook her mind as she watched the cloud appearing above the Slytherin side. She liked such a start — a successful landing of a spell was always a moment of achievement. She noticed how she stopped concentrating on the spell-casting — it was almost automatic, but she focused way more on the targeting. So far it had proven her well. But more to see as both Slytherin were unharmed, so it was time to cause some harm.

Damn Bridget has moves dodging spells left and right. Along with Astrea finally able to get her spellcasting back again. The lightning was still not striking anybody, such a shame. Delilah found it such an interesting spell to use. Along with that, the spell that Meenauh casted was another one that Del had yet to see used in a duel, a lot of firsts coming from Meenauh today.

Her new favourite spell has failed, to Meenauh's great surprise. Bridget was that good. An evasive one, she was to be able to fantastically dodge Alan's spell while being tripped over. If not the fog, she could swear Bridget somehow... cheated the laws of magic themselves. But luckily the crackers were cunning and still had their effect on the target.

She gave Alan a glance for confirmation he was still on the same wave of their strategy, but it seemed the crackers affected him as well. Meenauh sighed, but it was the known risk, and they had to deal with it.

Alan sighed when Astrea actually managed to break free from her binds this time. Now the easy phase was over and the duel would pick up in difficulty again. Though he remained quite confident in their ability to win. Even though so far it seemed pretty close. With that said, he readied himself once more.

There was a saying that initial failure shouldn't deter you from giving it another go, and that was exactly the motto Bridget was applying right now. The fact was, she needed her teammate, and every minute Astrea was incapacitated was crucial casts they weren't getting back. Between the two of them, this time the binds fell away and Bridget breathed a sigh of relief.

It was a very quick sigh of relief, though. An invisible force tugged her feet out from under her, and it was only by some combination of luck and muscle memory from falling in old Quidditch practices that she managed to twist away from the worst of the exploding crackers. Her ears were ringing as she planted her palms on the floor and pushed back to her feet, but overall, not too bad. They hadn't made any of the progress they would have hoped to by this point in the duel, but they hadn't been knocked into a losing descent, either.

With her binds finally broken away in a shimmer of overcome magic, Astrea quickly regained her forgotten position in retaliation. Yet, it was as if an obligatory source had struck the duelling piste, for even the cusp of freedom delivered by her partner's diligent spellwork could not rid them from misfortune. With such a harsh landing provided to her partner, any fascination held for the underused spellwork would have to wait until the reality of their situation's repercussions concluded. This was shaping up to be a close match -- one of the closest Astrea had ever experienced in her years of experience --, yet only cunning unpredictability could be the key to retaking any scant semblance of advantage.
