Ming
Reducio
Removes blindfold
The two Hufflepuffs took advantage of the vision Ming had lost. Due to the blindfold, he had a harder time dodging and the boy got hit by Julian's incendio duo. While the flame disappeared from Julian's sleeve, another one appeared and burned Ming's skin. Hades had also aimed his wand at Ming, but the younger student somehow managed to dodge the spell. Samantha watched in awe as the spell missed the blindfolded student.

On the other side of the stage, Starlee gave the wind jinx another try and focused on Julian. A strong jolt of wind hit the boy as the spell hit his target. While his partner made Julian's life harder, Ming removed his blindfold to restore his vision.

Since Ming was obviously preoccupied with the blindfold that the Hufflepuff's had so graciously bestowed upon them, Starlee knew she needed to land the hit this time. There was no question he would be the obvious target, unable to see what was headed his way.

And the next round began without a hitch, this time Starlee successfully aiming her Ventus at her cohort, and he was now more preoccupied with the blast of wind blowing around him. Starlee couldn't help but release a slight smile on her face, her confidence beginning to come back. Ming also managed to dodge one of the spells headed his way, which was especially impressive considering the fact that he was blindfolded, but he was on fire now. Not the best place to be in, but he was made a dueling captain for a reason, she was sure he could handle the pressure.

Things were getting interesting, but not the worst he had to deal with. If Hades had to be honest, the worst experience he had was with Kim and Rose, who were, in his words, more brutal. What he was enjoying in this duel was that he was actively participating. But the guy felt a little pity for Julian because he was the person who had been hit the most. He sighed. Julian was the first to perform the spell, which was a success. Of course, if Ming was blindfolded, how could he have dodged it?

When Hades managed to cast his spell, it was a success but he was taken by surprise when Ming managed to dodge it “How the fuck...?” left the sentence unfinished, visibly annoying. And more upset when he saw that the tragic Kennedy succeeded in performing the spell and making Julian affected. Ugh, this was getting a lot harder than he thought. But like every teenager, challenges were always welcome. The badger had the feeling that it was going to last a long time, but he hoped to win.

The Slytherin Duelling Co-captain couldn't help a savage feeling of triumph as the blindfold came off; his burning clothes be damned. It seemed that he had improved somewhat from his disastrous duel with Emma Wynn and the other girl.

Hades being visibly confused just fed into his satisfaction and a slight smirk crept onto the corner of his lips. Yes, it was much more challenging to dodge out of the way when you were blindfolded, but it was hardly impossible when his opposition gave him a verbal cue in a spell incantation, and the spell came but in a straight line.

"Nice cast, Miss @Kennedy, @Starlee Kennedy". He nodded to his teammate, raising his own wand. "Let's see if I can match that, hmm?"

The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening

Julian always felt a little guilty when he cast Incendio Duo at someone. Especially when the other person was blindfolded. It capitalised on the situation in the worst of ways. Still, his arm still stung from having been hit by Incendio Duo himself, so he couldn't feel too guilty. The pain reminded him that this was a duel; they all did what they had too.

Julian hadn't thought too much of Hades spell missing. It happened. More often than it didn't, in his estimation. He was startled, however, by the boy's language. He turned to look at him, eyes wide as saucers. "Do you, um, curse a lot?" He tried to keep his tone casual, non-judgemental. It was harder said than done, considering Starlee picked that moment to hit Julian with a wind jinx and he had to get the words out while struggling to keep his balance.

Still, he was curious. None of the people he spent a lot of time with (read: Jake, previous duelling partners) had ever really cursed. Was fourth year the year you started doing it? (Jake was a fourth year, of course, but he couldn't really imagine him ever cursing.)

Expecting to be targeted by the other team, Julian focused on dodging incoming spells this round and didn't make an attack of his own. While his partner was securing his safety, Hades used the good old flipendo and aimed his wand at Ming. The spell hit the younger student, who would be forced to take a step back in order to keep his balance. The impact of the jinx reminded Samantha of a game she used to play when she was younger, fruit ninja, where you would get points for slicing fruit. Admittingly, Ming was no apple or starfruit, nor was he sliced like a fruit but he did seem to suffer under the effect of the spell.

Great minds think alike. Was this also true for the Slytherins who both turned their attention towards Julian? From Starlee's wand, another wind jolt appeared, going straight for the duelist that was already struggling with the wind. Just as the effects of the old wind jinx wore off, Julian was hit by the new spell. One element of nature wasn't enough, as Ming tried to set the Hufflepuff student on fire. Luckily for Julian, he managed to dodge the spell.

A small tilt of his head, a hint of amusement at the reaction of the Hufflepuff Duelling Co-Captain. Perhaps not all the other people were thinking of the competition, and perhaps he could do to relax a little and enjoy the magical thrashing duel instead.

A nod of his head at his silent partner, solidly reliable in this duel.

Just a little bit more.

The curtains fell. And the silence was deafening

Starlee grinned playfully as her younger partner complimented her casting. "Its nothing a little extra practice can't solve..." she quipped back in a mischievous tone. With one well cast Ventus, Starlee felt sure she could do it again. And so, she raised her wand toward Julian, watching as he decided to avoid casting altogether to preserve his standing. While Ming couldn't quite aim at the boy, Starlee gauged where she thought he might be, and, in the knick of time, he dodged directly into her spell. Another hit for Slytherin.
Ming took another hit, but all in all things were going well thus far.

Hufflepuff VS Slytherin

Still in the duel, Hades was taken by surprise when he heard a question from his fellow badger, making him laugh “I’m afraid so, especially when things don’t go well.” admitted the boy with a smile. The first to use the spell was Hades, who had chosen to use a flipendo towards Ming. And it was a success. That was worth a smile on his face, being satisfied that he could cast a spell and that Ming could not dodge it. There was still plenty left, but he felt it was the toughest duel he’d ever been.

He could not let his guard down, as this time it was Slytherin’s turn, starting with Kennedy who executed a wind jinx spell. What about it that made duelists use it a lot? Unfortunately, it ended up hitting on Julian. Hades took a mental note about Kennedy in future duels. The next person was Ming, who tried to use an Incendio Duo, but as Julian had chosen to dodge it, Hades observed him dodging and could not help clapping “We’re doing good, Julian!” Hades encouraged him. There was still 7 rounds left.

Wind made it far trickier to dodge and to cast both. Faced with a choice, and an incoming Incendio Duo, Julian chose to focus his attention on avoiding being set on fire agaim, rather than immediately retaliating. He was half successful. His robes survived with no further damage, and he managed to kill his balance, but Starlee still managed to get him, such that the wind, which might've otherwise faded, simply picked up speed.

Julian sighed, craning to give Hades a half smile. "I suppose we could be doing much worse. That was a good knockback.". His mind was still half on what the other boy had said earlier, however. "Interesting. It never really occurred to me that we could." Cursing had always seemed the kind of thing one needed to be grown up to do, but then, there didn't seem to be any bright line pinpointing the exact time one grew up. And fourteeen (or fifteen), seemed well on its way.

Maybe Julian should try it too.
