An accidental encounter with someone "new"

The air seemed to be suffocating, as Kierce exited the classroom. The class itself wasn't bad in fact he loved his classes most of the time (Well, when he didn't have to work with other people). And charms was no different, or maybe it was. It was one of the classes he really understood, which made him try harder to do what he was assigned. It was just the amount of people talking, walking, and occasionally yelling around him. It wasn't his element, in the slightest.
I keep up a fast pace swerving around everyone, trying to get away as fast as possible to avoid getting caught up in drama, or being trampled by a crowd. It had become routine, boring if anything. My mind was already debating what I should do after all my homework and classes. The library might be fun. I wonder if they ever get new books. Maybe they have more fiction, or something on different species of animals.. Each thought slammed into another, with enough questions to put an elementary student's workbook to shame. I wasn't paying much attention though as I walked, keeping my eyes ahead of me.
Then an audible click as something of mine fell to the ground
I looked back at my supplies one of my mechanical pencils, had rolled off of the top and onto the ground.[I have quills, but I like mechanical pencils better, and erasers are more useful than you'd think!] I walked around the hall looking for it, muttering what to do if I was late for my next class.
Kierce found his pencil and picked it up, accidentally bumping into someone after he stood up he looked at the person, and apologized "Sorry, I dropped my pencil. I didn't mean to bump into you " He registered their face "Oh your in my charms class! Really sorry for bumping into you though. I'm Kierce, if you were wondering. I gave an apologetic smile and waited for what they had to say.

"Sorry, I dropped my pencil. I didn't mean to bump into you." He gave Qrow a once-over before recognition seemingly dawned on him: "Oh, you're in my charms class! I'm really sorry for bumping into you, though. I'm Kierce, if you were wondering." Said the boy, Kierce, with an apologetic smile.

Usually, the redhead would have reacted rather rashly at somebody bumping into them, however, this was one of the rarer days where Qrow had been having a generally good day. Not only that, but this boy was quite obviously a fellow Slytherin, and the child knew better than to start a scene with a housemate.
He was a couple inches taller than Qrow, which was certainly something new considering they themself were already rather tall for their age, though the boy was certainly much more scrawny. He had olive skin covered in a mottle of dark freckles and a head of messy blond hair. Unlike Qrow this boy clearly wore his glasses, rather than opting for contact lenses.
"It’s fine. Just try and watch where you’re going."
It was debatable whether or not their resting face helped them seem sincere, but the metamorphmagus couldn’t find it in themself to care much; the charms lesson had been rather interesting, and the Slytherin was determined to get to the library and complete their set homework as soon as possible.
They wanted to learn everything they could about the unlocking charm. Perhaps it could allow them to explore new parts of the castle.
"I'm Qrow Beithir. I’m heading to the library to do this homework if you’d like any help."

Kierce waited for a response, shuffling his textbooks all the while(in the order of his classes)."It’s fine. Just try and watch where you’re going." he nodded, internally sighing that the situation didn't result in any conflict.
I tapped my foot in a steady beat, trying to remember what I needed to do for the day. I looked at my schedule again, seeing my time was free I thought I might walk around the castle or go outside. Or get a head start on the homework for the day, or go to the commons and read.(More than likely the last one)
"I'm Qrow Beithir. I’m heading to the library to do this homework if you’d like any help."
Kierce couldn't tell if they were annoyed and just offered help because he ran into them. It certainly felt to him as though they disliked him(Though that's how he thought everyone felt about him)." Alright, sounds like a good idea. Anyway what did you think of the lesson?" Kierce said, obviously trying to make himself a little less awkward, although he should know that isn't his specialty. "I found it interesting, I mean being able to unlock any lock that doesn't have an anti-magic spell sounds like an adventure, imagine what you could find! Or it could be just a good way to never get locked out by accident." grinning at either his joke or the prospect of having a real adventure with magic "Sorry about ranting, I was trying to ask you something and I just interjected, I didn't mean to do that."

Qrow listened half heartedly as he spoke, their mind running a mile a minute over things that, in no way, had anything to do with what the poor lad was saying.

They were desperately worried about their mother and her worsening condition. She had been sickly for as long as the child could remember and whilst she had her good days and her bad days, but recently her bad days seemed to be turning from days to weeks and then to months.
The metamorphmagus knew that their parents were sparing them the details, but that was what worried them the most. They had hardly been sleeping properly and though their grades or work was yet to suffer, the darkening skin under their eyes spoke of their worsening insomnia.
"Alright, that sounds like a good idea. Anyway, what did you think of the lesson?" The boy said, obviously trying to make himself a little less awkward; and whilst he was awkward, it was oddly endearing. The Slytherin had been withdrawing recently during their freetime and as much as they wanted nothing else than to be alone at the minute, it was rather refreshing to engage in conversation again.
"I found it interesting; I mean, being able to unlock any lock that doesn't have an anti-magic spell sounds like an adventure; imagine what you could find! Or it could be just a good way to never get locked out by accident."
He grinned.
"Sorry about ranting; I was trying to ask you something and I just interjected; I didn't mean to do that."
The redhead snapped out of their thoughts so suddenly they could have gotten whiplash.
"Oh." They said dumbly as their brain tried desperately to catch up with what the boy had been saying. He had been talking about the lesson.
"What did I think of the lesson? It was good; I’m eager to learn how to cast the spell! It would make exploring so much easier; I want to learn everything about Hogwarts—it’s why I’m so keen on getting to the library."

"Oh." they said "What did I think of the lesson? It was good; I’m eager to learn how to cast the spell! It would make exploring so much easier; I want to learn everything about Hogwarts—it’s why I’m so keen on getting to the library.". I nod thinking about every place I haven't visited in the castle yet. "I think there's a book on everything in Hogwarts, but I think it's mainly about the history of Hogwarts, and exploring the castle sounds like a certain way to find something new."
Kierce thought back to the books he'd already borrowed from the library "But then again I've only borrowed books on magical animals, and fiction books. I wonder if the library has a fiction, or mystery section, it seems to be mostly non-fiction there." he said walking along, in the general direction of the library(Although he could be wrong he has an awful sense of direction). He was thinking of conversation topics (If you keep people talking they'll think less of judging you, and focus more on the conversation.) I think they like books, or just want to get homework done, so let's try that. But they may not, just because they want to explore and get something done doesn't mean they like to read.
"So what's your favorite type of book, I like non-fiction, mystery, and thriller books, but all books can be good." he casually(Well as casually an awkward kid can.) brought up, walking along with his supplies.

"So what's your favourite type of book? I like non-fiction, mystery, and thriller books, but all books can be good."
A much as Qrow Beithir longed to be alone today, it was for the best that they at least attempted to engage in the social aspects of life; honestly, it was the main reason they had invited the boy to tag along; though, Qrow was uncertain as to whether or not this boy's seemingly endless stream of words was annoying or not. If he was going to talk this much when they were in the library, they were sure to get kicked out.
Gods, is this how they sounded when they talked to Rhys?
"You’re on about Hogwarts: A History." They said dully in reference to the book he had described. It was one of those books that the redhead had read multiple times, and at this point they almost had the entire thing memorised. It was a miracle that Keith was left unaware of its title - wasn’t it required reading for first years? It wasn’t as if it was a difficult book title to remember.
Wait…
The redhead backtracked, mulling over his words in their head.
They turned their head towards their companion so quickly that it was a wonder that they didn’t get whiplash from the action.
"You like magical beasts?" They asked excitedly, completely ignoring the boy's question.
Qrow had grown up around magical beasts, their dad worked with them and was obsessed with teaching his only child everything he knew about them.
The Slytherins' eyes shone as if they had just discovered Christmas; if Keith liked magical beasts, they were sure to become fast friends.
