Anastasia listened to the new teacher's announcement and stood the moment it was done. She always liked to introduce herself to professors to make a bit of an impression before classes even started. It was always good to make a good first impression when you could actually control it. Try as she might, Anastasia could never be one hundred percent certain that she was always going to be early to class or be overprepared. So, she took it upon herself to handle that in a more controlled manner.
Alright, maybe Anastasia was a bit of a perfectionist and a slight control freak. But that was only because she wanted to be the very best she could be. Scratch those last three words - Anastasia wanted to be the very best. End of story.
As she neared the professor, the prefect smoothed down her already pristine robes and hair. She smiled brightly as she reached the professor. "Hello there, Professor. I'm Anastasia Beckett, and I'd like to welcome you to Hogwarts," she said. The words would sound rather stiff coming from an eleven-year-old, but somehow, it sounded perfectly normal coming from Anastasia. She examined the woman's face as she waited for a response. She seemed kind, and Anastasia was inclined to like her since History of Magic was already one of her favorite subjects.

It seemed as there was now a flood of students going up to all of the new professors. If only I had been this popular when I arrived at Hogwarts, Amadea thought sarcastically. She didn't mind though, that she hadn't been. After all, she had been so shy at the beginning of her first year that she didn't think that she could have handled all of the attention if that was the case.
A lot of people had questions and Amadea listened to Professor Risa answer them in stride. The syllabus sounded quite interesting and Amadea couldn't wait to begin learning all of the new things. She had learned a lot during her first year and was excited to continue learning more this year. Hopefully, the teachers would be just as wonderful as they had been last year. Amadea was excited to hear that they were learning about more recent history rather than the drab events that had occurred many centuries ago. She wanted to know more about the recent things.
Coming from a (practically) Muggle family, Amadea didn't know much about the wizarding world when she first entered it. In fact, she barely knew anything at all. She hadn't heard of 'Harry Potter' and didn't know about the huge war that had gone on. She had learned much during her first year, but Amadea was excited to learn about other recent historical events.
"I am glad that you're changing the syllabus, if I'm being honest," Amadea said, voicing her opinions. "I am excited to learn about all of that!"

For a while, it seemed as if nobody had heard her quiet, firm voice. Laughter and clinking glass churned on around her; she held her spine straight and prime as ever. Although it felt as if she was an outsider, standing among a sea of one mob of students, she did not look so - no, she looked instead as a cliff towering over the ocean, despite her stature, right at home in the waters of the crowd.
Then she felt the pressure of fingers on her arm and tried not to flinch - although she did, it was near unnoticeable. She should have expected it. Young students were not trained in the aid of those with blindness; it was not their fault, and yet she nearly jerked away at the unannounced touch - one more thing that she would have to get used to... but this would be her life now, and get used to it she would.
She offered a smile at the student, allowing herself to be guided along as the girl spoke. "Thank you, Bella," Cy replied warmly. "Ah - in the future, if you could announce your presence before assisting me, it would be splendid, but thank you for your help again." Her tone was not hostile in the slightest but a gentle suggestion. Any student kind enough to help a professor along was either a good child, a child who knew what he or she wanted, or both, regardless of her house. Slytherin - that was her sister's house, although they'd never been in school at the same time.
At the thought of her sister, her head turned up at the sound of her sister's voice, keen through the chatter of the crowd. She'd recognize it anywhere - there it was, beckoning her in the direction she was being led by the girl, Bella. "Aoi!" the young woman called back, a joyful grin spreading across her fair face. Her steps sped up ever so slightly, anxious to see her sister.
The tradition of their scarves had started with the single silken scarf on the day of Cy's graduation from Hogwarts. It was beautiful, a work of art, and she had worn it everywhere, instead of the scraps of cotton that she had used before. And so the other scarves had followed - blue, red, purple, green - all beautiful in their own way, despite her inability to view their beauty - they were beautiful in another way.
A scarf here, a scarf there - indeed, a fourth of her trunk was filled with the neatly folded scarves in her collection. Back home there was an entire room with scarves pinned to the walls, stacked in shelves, folded in baskets - here, there would only be one wall to fit what was only a fraction of her collection yet that was still so colossal.
As Cypresse approached the long professor's table, smiling as she sensed the nearness of another group of feasting people, this time full of deeper and more mature voices, she turned to her guide again. "A favor. Would you mind leading me to the Japanese professor, who sounds like there are a lot of students gathered around?" Indeed, she could hear a ring of higher voices around her sister's call. Hopefully she was correct - but then, there were no other Japanese teachers present in Hogwarts: Aoi's location should have been easy enough.

[font=Bodoni Monotype] Her question had been answered, with the professors stating that there would be a change in the syllabus. Dark Wizards and Wars were interesting. Her parents had told her stories about their own experiences during the most recent war, the one with Voldemort. It was frightening, and it was a relief that there weren’t any wars in the generation that she lived in.
The only thing that was dangerous in the school was the masked man, she wasn’t sure about what the whole issue was about. She head just heard about students getting attacked. It was just one person, he shouldn’t pose to much of a threat especially since he didn’t have his mask now.
Aurelia watched as the Professor excitedly called out to another going by the name Cypress. Another new professor. She had gotten the answers she needed and there wasn’t much now to ask.
“I’ll look forward to your class, Professor Aoi. Thank you for your time, I hope to see you around.” The girl smiled politely. The Professor was nice and helpful, not like some other professors she had met. She then turned and walked towards the doors of the great hall. She needed to get some rest.
