This was a grand idea, Venus was sure of it. Sure, she could simply hide her journal in the locking chest at the foot of her bed but that was quite vanilla. How could she be sure that a prefect or staff member didn't secretly have a master code? If her diary only contained basic information about her day-to-day life it would have been fine. Venus did not know the prefects personally but she was almost certain they were nice, helpful people and not concerned with exposing her personal life.

However, the top-secret scheme that filled the pages was of a more criminal sort. If an authority figure got their hands on it, it would most certainly be confiscated. The leather-bound diary was a present from last Christmas. She would hate to lose it so quickly.

Keeping it in an old, stinky, rotting, did she mention stinky bathroom was perfectly okay, though. Venus would have preferred a more pleasant-scented storage facility, however, based on her explorations on the first week of the term, the abandoned bathrooms were the ideal place to house a secret.

She had chosen the second-to-last stall of the row using the logic that people would use the first stall most, and that the last stall would be the obvious choice. She braced herself as she slipped her arm behind the base of the toilet and retrieved the diary. Not a scratch. The corners of the Slytherin's mouth rose up to form a smirk. Now to continue her plotting.

How to Sneak Out: Slytherin Girl's Dorm Edition!

1) Make sure Maeve is asleep
2) Put socks on the outside of your shoes to muffle noise
3) Take the third door out of the dungeons. Remember to move like a ghost.
4) Continue up the moving staircase
5) Sharp left (avoid the scary knight statues -- not nice in the dark)
6) Exit the castle
7) Freedom at last!
