Professor Appreciation errand

It had been decided some couple of weeks ago by best friends and prefect duo Monica Evans and Beatrice Langstreth that the staff, Professors and Assistants alike, should be thanked for their service.

Planning and preparation had begun after breakfast on the fine Monday morning of the 8th of May, when everything had been cleared from breakfast and the long wooden tables were now empty and clean from the food remains of the ravenous students of Hogwarts. Armed to the teeth with arts and crafts equipment, the two girls set about decking the Great Hall into various stations. One table had paper supplies and markers, another flowers, the third with numerous volumes of confetti and glitter containers. The fourth table contained various musical instruments. Perhaps one of the students would write a song? Either way the tables were equipped and students could come throughout the day to create and give gifts for the staff.

As well as setting up the four tables with art utensils, the two prefects had designated the staff table as ‘gift appreciation table’. Photos of the staff had been set up, with space for gifts to be set. Monica and Beatrice would be found flitting in and out throughout the day, ready to accept any gift to deliver to a staff member should a student wish.

This morning, Cassie wakes up as usual. After changing from her pajamas to her school robes, she rushes down the spiral staircase down the West Tower. Well, she is hoping to finish breakfast early and have some time to preview the day's class. She did this yesterday as well, and finds it useful for her to do better in classes.
She quickly has breakfast, and rushes back to her common room, not noticing she has left her daily prophet at the Ravenclaw table.
When she realizes it and rushes back down from the Ravenclaw common room, she notices some difference of the staff's table-- the place where professors and staff used to have meals. It was decorated. There are now places to put gifts. After some confusion, Cassie realizes that it was put up for the students to be grateful and thank for the professors' and assistants' hard work. She puts her hand in her pocket. It contains some unopened chocolate frogs. Carefully, she put one for each professor and assistant.
Then she notices that they can write letters for the professors and assistants. Luckily, she has her quill and some parchment with her. She sits on a seat of the Ravenclaw table, and starts to write. Firstly, she is writing to all the professors.
Dear professor Fresnel, professor of Charms.
How are you professor? I do hope you have a great day.
Charms is always my favourite subject. Every week, I have been looking forward to Charms most. I am very grateful for you to lead us into the world of Charms, into the world of spell-casting.
Charms, this noble subject, is the most important of all, as I consider. We are wizards and witches for we can cast spells.
Thank you again professor, for providing us with such wonderful lessons!
Best wishes,
Your student, Cassie Jiang
She carefully folds the letter and stuffs it into an envelope.
Then, she takes up her quill again.
Dear professor Regan, professor of Potions.
How are you professor? I do hope you have a great day.
Potions is a subject I really love. I think this subject is the most creative one. And it requires us to create. It definitely is not easy to brew a perfect potion, but the process of practising till I find the best way to brew is just so interesting!
I am very grateful for you to lead us to the wonderful world of potions. Thank you, professor, for your efforts.
Best wishes,
Your student, Cassie Jiang
She stacks the letter on top of the previous.
Dear professor Aarden, professor of Transfiguration.
How are you professor?I do hope the best.
Thank you for giving us wonderful lessons on the noble subject of Transfiguration. Although it is difficult, but I do enjoy the challenges it provides me with.
Thank you again for your efforts.
Best Wishes,
Your student, Cassie Jiang
Dear, professor Lécuyer, professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.
How are you professor? I do wish the best for you.
I am very grateful for the wonderful lessons you provided us. DADA is perhaps the most useful of all subjects when we meet dangers.
Thank you again for your efforts.
Best Wishes,
Your student, Cassie Jiang
Dear professor Browne, professor of History of Magic.
How are you professor? I do wish the best for you.
I am very grateful for your effort to help us enter the world of HoM. Though many peers complaint that this subject is boring, I always maintain my respect and interest to this noble subject.
Thank you again, professor.
Best Wishes,
Your student, Cassie Jiang
Dear professor Baird, professor of Astronomy.
How are you professor? I do wish the best for you.
Although you haven't come to teach us for long, I am very grateful for your work and efforts to create wonderful classes for us. As head of the Astronomy Club, I love Astronomy very much! Thank you, professor.
Best Wishes,
Cassie Jiang
Dear professor McLoughlin, professor of Herbology.
How are you professor? I do wish the best.
I am grateful for the efforts you made to lead us into the wonderful world of Herbology. Thank you! I also want to thank you for the wonderful errand you made. I am still looking after my pet plant.
Best wishes,
Cassie Jiang
Dear professor Lin, professor of Flying.
How are you professor? I wish the best.
Thank you for your contribution to the noble subject of Flying and us students.
I love flying so much!
See you in the class!
Best wishes,
Cassie Jiang
Dear professor Blumenthal, professor Bardot, professor Rolfö, professor Galim
Although I am not your student, I also want to express my appreciation to your contribution and effort to Hogwarts.
Best Wishes,
Cassie Jiang
Dear Mr. Céspedes Madam Finley, Mr. Sáez, Madam Featherstone.
As groundskeeper, Caretaker, Librarian, School Nurse, you all have contributed so much to Hogwarts and we students. I am really grateful for your contribution and efforts. Thank you all!
Sincerely,
Cassie Jiang
Dear prefects.
Thank you for your contribution to Hogwarts. You have sacrificed your spare time to help Hogwarts better!
Thanks you!
Best wishes,
Cassie Jiang
After writing all the letters, Cassie stuffed them into envelopes. Phew, that was exhausting. She hands them in to Ravenclaw prefect Beatrice Langstreth and leaves the Hall to go to her first class.

The Ravenclaw simply adored the idea of giving thanks to the staff, she had tried to do something like this at the very start of her first year, but sadly no one had showed up. Probably for the best anyways.
It was perfect though, it was already organized and surely the professors would get a boat load of awesome gifts.

Clair set right to work, she had some seeds in her pocket that her sister had sent a while back to grow at hogwarts, but these seeds would be great for her idea. she set them out, there was beans, sunflowers and a few other small plants and Flower seeds. She laid them out and selected which she would use.
Moon flower for the Astronomy professor. Sunflower for the Herbology professor, Beans for the History of Magic -because of the Three Sisters Corn beans and squash being a part of history- She decided that she would work on three and then decide if she wanted to do a fourth or not.

With her seeds in hand Clair gathered what she would need, Paper, Glue, Scissors, and some ink.
she started by writing as neatly as she could
Dear Professor,
Thank you for all you do, I hope you enjoy these seeds I thought that Moon flowers would look very pretty on the tower. They'll flower in the night and close in the day!
Yours,
Clair Fernandez
Dear Professor,
Thank you for all the amazing things you teach! I used to hate herbology but now I love it! I hope the Sunflowers brighten your office even more!
Yours,
Clair Fernandez
Dear Professor,
History of Magic is such a great class! Thank you for all you have done! I'm sure you already know about the Three Sisters as they play a large part for the natives in history. I thought you would enjoy growing your own beans, sadly I did not think you'd want corn or squash filling up your space.
Yours,
Clair Fernandez
Clair then cut out the paper she had written on into shapes, for the Astronomy professor she had cut it into a moon and then she drew little stars around the words. For the Herbology professor she cut the paper into a flower pot, and then she drew little ivy plants around the words. And for the The history of Magic professor she cut it into a scroll shape (a very hard shape to cut out compared to the others) and wrote a little tiny essay on the three sisters behind her larger words.

She then got to work with the most important and by far longest part. For the Astronomy Professor she made a little dish out of braided paper and then set to work making a ton of different coloured origami Stars. When she had about fifty stars and 20 paper cuts Clair put the mini stars into the bowl and attached the tag to the side. One down, Two more to go.

The next one was a little harder. Clair set to work sketching. after about a half hour she had a finished sketch It had beans, Corn and squash.
She attached the History of Magic professor's tag to it.

And Lastly the most time consuming one. Clair had some yellow and brown yarn, She took then and found a spot out of the way and started to crochet a little sun flower. After a good while (she was a slow crocheter) Clair had her finished Sunflower. She then attached this one to the Herbology Professor's tag.

She took all three gifts up to the table and put them jn their correct places, she really hoped they would be enjoyed.

Ava didn't exactly have any 'connections' with the professors, besides having interacted with them briefly in class. Although...there were some that she knew better than others. Like the herbology professor. The herbology professor had suffered her shenanigans once, Ava had showed up to class ready to start a protest. That hadn't ended well. Hazard of trying to beat someone who was probably twice your age in an insult battle. It didn't end well. Not only was Ava absolutely humiliated by the quick thinking professor, she had also made a pretty bad first impression. Ava had definitely learned from that one. She hadn't tried that again. That was the thing about Ava, she learned from her mistakes. Only problem was she made so many mistakes, it was almost humorous. Maybe when she was older she would be wise and not make so many stupid mistakes. Although that was doubtful.

Ava felt indebted to attend this staff appreciation thing, probably because of how many bad impressions she had. The instructions were simple: write letters or make gifts to give to a staff member to show how much one appreciated them. Ava did not consider herself creative. At all. She was about at original as the wall. Oh well, she could still try. Maybe she would come up with something.

Would it be rude to write one professor and none of the others? Ava considered how long it would take to make something for each staff member, and quickly ruled that out. Just because Ava had showed up didn't mean she was planning on spending four hours writing until her hands cramped. She instead chose a very small number of staff members to give a gift to and found a place to work.

In the end, there were only two professors who would be receiving her gratitude. The herbology professor. That was self explanatory, seeing that Ava still owed the professor a genuine apology. Although Ava wasn't creative, she could usually craft whatever she envisioned in her crazy mind. For this particular gift, Ava was determined to fold an origami plant. Or at least make something resembling it. Today must have been a good day, because she found even more inspiration. She would write an apology on the paper, and then fold it. Although it was twice the work, Ava figured that she had the time to at least attempt to finish it. She took a piece of paper and began to tackle what she deemed the more difficult part, writing the letter. Luckily, she eventually finished it after only 8 tries.
Dear Professor McLoughlin,
I deeply apologize to my immaturity when I first interacted with you. It was obviously childish and thoughtless. I would like to thank you for all the work you put into teaching and how dedicated you are. I believe I made a very horrible first impression on you, and it probably ruined any future connections we could have. I can see every thought you put into teaching our class and the other
years, and I think it's extraordinary you have such commitment. I know many students enjoy your class, me being one of them. It is clear that you care for herbology, and I think that is really great that you are such a big impact on people's daily life's. I hope to see more of you soon.
Your student,
Ava Winchect
Ava hoped it didn't sound too much like a rant. It definitely repeated some things a couple...a lot of times, but it showed that she was sincere, right? Now for what Ava called the easy part, folding the paper until it made a flower. She didn't know any specific types of flowers, but it couldn't be too difficult to fold something that resembled one--right? She quickly figured out how to twist the bottom into a stem and fold the top into petals. It turned out just about how she had envisioned it, with the writing showing on the outside of the carefully folded flower.

Now onto the second letter. The second staff member who would be receiving Ava's gratitude was the head of slytherin, who Ava believed she was deeply indebted to. The least she could do was write an appreciation letter. This was going to be the toughest of all for Ava. That was when sherealized she didn't have to write a letter at all. What would a head of house like? Ava wondered thoughtfully, unable to think of anything. It wasn't like Ava knew the head of house personally, nor did she hold a title like herbology professor that explained any likes. No, all Ava had to work with was head of slytherin house. Ava realized there was a simple solution to her problem. Do something snake related. That was the slytherin house mascot, after all. Ava was sure there was no way she would be able to fold her way put of this one. No, this would take a creative outlet. She considered drawing, but quickly threw out the idea when she realized how simple it sounded. She looked at the tables for ideas on what she could make, and saw a string/cord material laying around. She had an idea. She took three varying shades of green and took them to somewhere where she could sit alone. It only took her one try to figure out how to braid the cords together to make the body and tie a knot to create a head. She held it up in triumph. "Take that!" She called to no one in particular, grabbing both of her crafts so that she could give them to the two in charge to deliver.

Ava held up her first craft. "This one is for the herbology professor." She let it hang in the air for a second before dropping her hand back to her side and holding up her other hand, which held the snake. "This one is for Professor Jensen." She held them both out for someone to take. "Don't mess it up," she called over her shoulder as she waltzed out of the great hall.

When referring to her daughter, Christine Graves often claimed the youngest of the clan was a dragon. That if she didn't watch out, Alora would leave with something. It wasn't far from the truth. The first year Slytherin had a knack for finding things she claimed to be shinies. A trip to the beach in the Fal always led to driftwood pieces, shells, and other small objects gathered and brought back. Any walk outside often ended with small trinkets of natural and other found objects in her pockets. Thus, when a crafting session had been called to thank for the teachers for their hard work, Alora had brought a few items with her from her trove to add into her gifts. Ultimately, she wished to make every gift she chose to create unique.

Settling at a table, she placed parchments, quill, and her items before grabbing from the fully stocked tables of crafting supplies. Some things were exactly as she remembered from school in the muggle world, others were curious. Things she'd heard of and others that were new. She picked several items and moved to her table to work on the first of her projects for the Potions Master, Miss Regan.

She began with a circle which she covered with colored twine. From there she created a number of off shoots she quickly planned out. Picking from the beads and items she had taken from the craft able and supplemented with some she had brought from home. One of them being a charm of a figure from her Cornish roots.

Once done, Alora held a carefully crafted windchime she hoped would bring the woman a smile. Carefully she set it in a box and wrapped it with fabric that was available. Once pleased with the wrapping, she brought the gift to the table to set it by Professor Regan's lot of gifts.
Dear Professor Regan,
Thank you for all your kind words and support throughout this year. Potions have become easily one of my favorite subjects. I am excited for next year, and wish to learn more from you. In the meantime, I hope your summer is amazing, and that you enjoy this sun catcher I've made for you.

You'll notice a charm in my work of Joan the Wad included. She's Queen of the Piskies and will hopefully bring you much luck!

Alora J. Graves
Returning to her seat, she began working on her next gift. Another windchime, this time for Professor Lin. She began settling pieces of sea glass in a pattern with a piece of driftwood she'd collected. She was still debating how to hold it all together. With everything she wanted in place, she smiled and marched to the craft supply station for the right rope. Pieces of green, blue, and white were set. Though he had worn green to their class, there was something about the man that gave Alora blue vibes. Perhaps his calm demeanor.

It was a while before she finished his gift as well. It was awkward to wrap, but she managed. After writing a note, she took it to the table and placed with Professor Lin's gifts.
Dear Professor Lin
I know you've only just started, but your classes have been very enjoyable. I made you this windchime, I hope it brings you joy.

Regards,
Alora J. Graves
With most of her time spent on her two favorite professors for the time being, she began working on simpler gifts for the rest. She wanted to extend her thoughts, but also wanted to make something for those that had made a difference for her.

The top of her list was the Headmaster. Although they had never interacted, she appreciated his presence, and his efforts to keep her house, and the school safe. For him, she crafted a bouquet of flowers.
Dear Headmaster Lear,

Thank you for all you do to keep this school as amazing as it is. I wish I could give you real flowers, but they tend to die, whereas these wont. Until I can make some that will last longer, which I have no doubt I can learn here at Hogwarts.

Regards,
Alora J. Graves
Not wanting anyone to have an empty area, she created small butterfly pagemarkers for every other member of staff with a small thank your written directly on the back.

Each butterfly reads:
Thank you for all you do!

It could be easily said that Maeve Selweyn enjoyed keeping in the good graces of her professors, just enough as to not be considered a teacher's pet. By her logic, being liked meant far more than its negation. For if she herself were a professor, she'd certainly appreciate the kind sentiment students went to make a point of introducing themselves. This, in fact, was exactly what the young Slytherin had in mind. The premise proposed by the prefects was sincere enough, and simple at that. Write a letter, hand it in. While she could tell most of the students gathered in the great hall would toss their offerings mindlessly to the older girls, Maeve held no other intention than to deliver hers personally.

The dedication put into the event was apparent, clear passion lingering all the same. Arts and crafts lined the four tables, in what she assumed was once displayed neatly before the pack of students took and grabbed as freely as they chose. As well as.. instruments? Her lack of musical talent was without question, unless of course she'd intended to play Für Elise.. Maeve smiled humorously, eyes then directing elsewhere. For a moment she'd recognized one of the prefects standing in the hall, a Slytherin determinable by her robes. The other she hadn't seen quite often, all likely due to being glued to her own house whilst too busy to venture outside of it. Nonetheless, her brown eyes glided inquisitively along the options open to them, ultimately opting for simplicity.

Quietly then did she take a seat at her house's designated table, empty now that the last girl had appeared to be finished and leaving. Spaces were not yet limited, which the blonde inferred would change as time soon went on. If anything a minor silence proved helpful to Maeve, Merlin forbid her from trying to write anything alongside unbearable chatter. The quill was smooth against her palm, feathers white and velvety. Only carefully had she dipped it into the ebony-colored ink, placing it's tip to the parchment as her words flowed onto it.

Dear Professor Fresnel,

One could say you've charmed me.

While perhaps we've not spoken one on one, I write to you not out of obligation, but rather in sheer excitement. From the start of the year you have shown me and your students alike nothing but kindness, making each step into your classroom one I enjoy taking. I've found myself so captivated by your enthusiasm for the subject at hand, making my first-year lessons all the more fun to learn. The art of charms has always been a premise most fascinating to me, alongside the utter power that it holds. It's entirely safe to say that your class has taken my love for the subject to extraordinarily new heights. And while admittedly I'm playing favorites, it doesn't help that my favorite subject is taught by such a brilliant witch herself.

As professor appreciation day has arisen, I just wanted to show a bit of kindness in return. Your class is and will continue to be a highlight of my time at Hogwarts, surely making my first year one I'll recall fondly.

Sweet regards,

A faint smile curled at the corners of her mouth, finishing details like a heart above an "I" or two. If that were all, Maeve would stand up gracefully as her hands sealed the letter gently into an envelope. In the spirit of truly wanting to stand out, perhaps she could run to her dorm before stopping by her Professor to grab the cookies her mother had sent just yesterday through an owl. Message in hand, the blonde exited just as quietly as she'd arrived.
Maeve has left this thread, but delivering here.

Professor Appreciation errand
Axyen entered the Great Hall, Axyen wondered what was for breakfast, but noticed something interesting. He looked towards the staff table. Are those... Axyen squinted for a moment. Pictures...? He thought. Axyen thought for a moment. Breakfast or pictures... Axyen shrugged, missing one breakfast couldn't be that bad. He may not even miss breakfast at all, he looked at the table he sat down at, he hadn't even paid attention before, it was decorated to the top!

Axyen walked up to the staff table, curiosity taking over all his thoughts and movements, pictures of each professor. Axyen went back to his table thinking about the pictures, the coloring supplies, to the parchment and quills, it hit him at once. This was for his professors! This will be a ton of fun! Axyen thought. He grabbed parchment and thought of the first professor that'd come to mind. Professor Fresnel! Axyen thought. This was the professor who taught him first spell, the first classroom he stepped a foot into. Axyen decided he'd do some research on Hogwarts professors and try to include them all in the project.

Axyen stepped into the library, it took a bit of scrolling and browsing, but found what he was looking for, he saw familiar names from his older brother's textbooks. Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and so on. Axyen turned a few pages and found the current year of professors. He studied it and made a small list, including the headmaster before heading back to the Great Hall where Axyen would start making letters for all of his professors.

Axyen arrived in the Great Hall(after getting a little lost in the hallways leading to it, entering the wrong corridor before finally realizing he was in a loop.) He found one spot that was isolated from everyone else and sat down before writing... Axyen wanted to make this project more fun, and what better way to do that than a thoughtful words, a corny, but not horrible joke at the end. Axyen grabbed the parchment and a quill, he had a book with the title Book of Spells turned to a page about Lumos, the lighting charm. Axyen decided a wand with the Lumos charm would be a nice decoration to have his letter, and he already had the entire message written inside his head, he grabbed scissors.. I need to get better at art. Axyen randomly thought.

He folded the parchment in half, he cut three sides to seemingly make a rectangle but made a shape similar to a spark to represent the spell Lumos. Axyen grabbed his quill and drew and upside down 'V' on the tip of the. three-sided rectangle to make it look like a wand was emitting light. Axyen opened the wand-shaped paper and wrote

Dear professor Fresnel,
Thanks for helping me learn my first spells and being a wonderful professor, I never would've learned any spells without your great teaching.

The wand is supposed to be using Lumos - the lighting charm because you brighten up my day!

Your student,
Axyen Dragonclaw.
Axyen finished writing his letter and put it in half again so it looked like a wand, he could be finished right here with this letter right now, he could be done with the entire project, but he wasn't going to slack and he was going to show every professor the same level of gratitude. Axyen decided to decorate his Charms letter a tiny bit more, Axyen grabbed a brown, blue, cyan and white marker. He'd make the wand part brown, the outline of the spark blue, the very middle white and in-between cyan.

Axyen was finally satisfied and convinced that his Charms Letter looked good enough to be presented, but he did notice his professor had a Sweet spot for sweets. Did Axyen just make another joke? Axyen shook it off, he mysteriously bought snacks only obtainable in Hogsmeade, three chocoballs for his Charms professor.

Axyen sighed, he had a long way to go. He knew what his next letter was going to be, it was going towards Professor Regan, his Potions professor. Axyen folded his paper in half and cut out so it'd look like a cauldron when opened. Axyen decorated the cauldron parchment so it'd look more like a cauldron, Axyen then started writing a note, but first he needed a joke... Do I need a joke? Axyen thought. Axyen decided he did. Axyen thought more and more, this was going to be a more frustrating task than he imagined. After a while Axyen decided he'd just simply make up for it with a picture at the end, he tried his best to draw himself in class working on a potion of some kind while professor Regan sat behind a desk writing something unreadable on a decently drawn blackboard. Axyen decided the picture was good enough and finally started writing his letter.
Dear professor Regan,
Originally, I never really like Potions, I suppose my older brother influenced the way I thought about it since he never was good at it. But after sitting through a lesson in your class, with your excellent teaching I found potions an interesting subject to learn and plan to learn as much as I can about Potions!

From your student,
Axyen Dragonclaw.
Axyen folded the parchment, now he had to make his Transfiguration professor, professor Aarden. Axyen folded his parchment and made a cauldron with cat ears and a tail, a failed transfiguration and now Axyen simply needed to write the note, this was easier than he thought, he always imagined Transfiguration to be boring, but he had everything he need, he drew some lines, took out some markers and colored the cauldron and started to write again.
Dear professor Aarden,
Thanks for teaching me the concepts of Transfiguration and helping me transfigure things out with your excellent teaching, I appreciate your teaching style as well and can't wait for the second lesson.

From your student,
Axyen Dragonclaw.
Axyen finished the letter, this project has been pretty fun so far, but he still had a quite a few professors to write to. Axyen grabbed another sheet of paper and was going to write to his Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, professor Lécuyer. Axyen needed an idea, and came up with a skull, he folded the parchment in half, cut out half of a human skull so when you opened it up to read the contents, it'd look like a full human skull and Axyen began to write to his professor.
Dear professor Lécuyer,
Even though I haven't attended your class yet, I wanted to say I am looking forward to your class and I am also excited to see what spells and lectures you have in store for me. Thanks for all you do for us so we don't fall victim to the dark arts.

From your student,
Axyen Dragonclaw.
Axyen couldn't think of a joke so just drew himself and professor Lécuyer and professor Lécuyer teaching about the dark arts and Axyen having a shield around him. Axyen folded the parchment in half. He looked at the book he checked out. Next his History of Magic professor, professor Browne. Axyen curled the end of his parchment, cut it with the scissors so it looked like an ancient scroll.
Dear professor Browne,
Even though I am yet to attend your class, history is a subject I have always found interesting. This is what makes me more excited for your class. I am also excited to get a more detailed history of what happened in the past.

From your student,
Axyen Dragonclaw.
Axyen got tired, he couldn't find himself writing detailed and decorated letters to every single professor. Axyen thought in conflict, he finally made his choice. He would just keep it to five professors, and Axyen got up, he was going to deliver every single letter himself, it felt more genuine than just having someone deliver the letters for him.

Duvessa did not know what had come over her. She showing gratitude with dinky pink flowers and endless boxes of princess crowns? This would not do, but she found herself sitting amongst the group of children who were all making things too. But Duvessa decided to do things in her own style.

With nimble fingers, she began to make a flower box, selecting pastel green colors and ending it with a white ribbon. After that, she fished out some dark green card and began to cut it, and then folding it. A bit of red for the tongue, and there it was,
symbol of the noble house of Slytherin. She placed it on a pile of white tissue paper in the box. Duvessa Ember closed it neatly, and then took out a piece of plain white paper. With elegant handwriting, she began to write.
Dear Professor Jensen,
Hope you like the enclosed gift. Thank you for spreading the magic 💚 I know I am lucky to be in your house.
- D. Ember
Her note was short and straight to the point. She never really cared for lies, sickly sweet long, long letters of people telling how wonderful you were, when sometimes you were not. But that short letter was a great compliment from Duvessa, for she never gave bouquets out for free.

Next, there was yet another important gift to do, this time for Professor Solomon Lear, the headmaster of Hogwarts. He was no doubt a man who worked hard, and definately deserved some appreciation. She wondered what to do; something that would stand out from the rest. Like a speck of green in the black and white.

Slowly, mind running furiously with ideas, she reached out absent mindedly to some green card. Half aware of what she was doing, she fashioned it into a rose. Petals were soft and delicate, a grass green rose standing. Duvessa looked at it, before deciding it looked lonely. Even the snake sometimes needed comfort. Insitinctively, she reached out for a Red, Blue and yellow bunch of colored paper, and feveritishly began making more. Soon, she had all the four colors, and she admired her work proudly. She put them all in a small basket which she had learnt to make ages ago, and remembered fondly of wrapping gifts for her sister in it. Then, it was for the hard part. Expressing her feelings on paper.
Dear Headmaster Lear,
I hope you like this gift I made you, four roses (I assume you would guess) of the four Hogwarts houses. Although it may not be much, I would like to say a huge thank you for the work you do to ensure that the school runs steadily and smoothly.
Wishing you the best,
D. Ember
Another note, not longer than the other. She wondered if she should do one more professor, but in truth they all were nice. Professor Jensen and Lear seemed to be the professors that she wanted to give the gifts to anyway - she wondered if she could give them to Prefects too. So, setting all her gifts to one side, she began tidying up neatly after herself.

Duvessa was a perfectionist, so every fold done was creased in care, every color picked was according to the theme and her sharp, alert eyes were always searching for something that made the gift itself look untidy. Even she could admit that she had done a rather clever job of it, and she prided herself not to have simply done everything messily and with no real meaning behind it. She left the room, holding the gifts.

Arriving in the great hall on Monday after breakfast, Mahlioz was surprised to find the tables stacked with everything from colored paper to markers to flowers to glitter to musical instruments. Apparently two prefects had decided to create an event to thank the professors of Hogwarts for all that they did. Mahlioz immediately loved the idea. Grinning, she wandered around the tables for a few minutes, trying to decide on something to do. She stayed away from the glitter - that stuff should have been illegalized years ago - but everything else interested her. Deciding to leave the gifts for later, the young Slytherin grabbed some paper and began to write some letters.
Dear professor Sáez,

I know that you may not be a teacher, per se. But you are a member of the staff of this grand school, and I think that you are not appreciated enough. You may not teach us spells or potions or how to grow magical plants, but you do something far more important. You teach us about the magic of books. You help us go to different worlds and you are always ready to recommend a good book to read. And for all this, I thank you. A good library is nothing without a good librarian, and that, I know you are. Thank you for everything you do.

One letter done, two more to go.
Dear professor Aarden,

I hope that you are doing well. I just wanted to let you know that, ever since the first day, Transfiguration has been my favorite class at this school. It mixes magic and logic, which I love, but it isn't only the topic that makes a lesson great. Most of the time, it is also the teacher. And you are most of the reason I love Transfiguration so much. I don't know how you do it, but you somehow make even the most boring things interesting. I look forward to every class I have where I get to listen to you. You always end up finding yourself going on a rant about something perhaps useless to some, but always intriguing. And that is why I would like to say thank you, for all that you have done and all that I know you will continue to do throughout the years. I really hope to one day be like you.

And finally...
Dear professor Jensen,

You may not teach us anything, but you do a whole lot for us. The amount of things you do for not only Slytherin but the whole school is amazing. I believe that all Heads of Houses are not appreciated enough, but you especially (although that may just be because I am a Slytherin myself). I do not know you personally, but I do know of all of the great things that you do for us, and that is why I would like to thank you immensely for all of it. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Mahlioz was honestly quite satisfied with her letters. She folded them neatly before slipping them into three enveloppes and drawing a small flower on each of those. But now came the question of the gifts. Glancing around once more at everything that was around her, Mahlioz realized she actually had no idea what her professors liked. She would have loved to write a piece of music for one of them, but she didn't know what kind of music they liked. In the end, she decided to draw them all something. Yes, that was a good idea. She got right to work.

After about forty-five minutes of sketching, she was done. The first year slipped each of her three drawings into the envellopes for each professor, closed them, and set them all onto the table in front of their respective pictures. She was thankful the prefects were volunteering to give out the letters themselves - Mahlioz would never have dared. She was already wondering whether she hadn't written enough, or if what she'd said was too childish, or... she tried to stop thinking. She was done now, and all she could do was hope the professors would like what she had made for them. Besides, she had to go - classes were starting very soon. She would be sure to thank every professor she saw today for everything they did.

Professors. Charlie didn’t have any relations or anything with the professors beside talking to them in class, asking for help on homework and answering questions. So Charlie really didn’t have a big reason to attend the professor appreciation errand, but because her thoughts moved to her favorite trouble maker at the school, [@Ava Winchect], she decided to attend.

Upon arrival, Charlie spotted that three of the tables were covered in arts and crafts supplies, ready to be used to make a craft. She wasn’t the most crafty person in the world, but when in the mood she would try to make something decent. Today, she was in an alright mood, and would try and make something. The other table had pictures of professors on it and the students could set their gifts by the professors photo, indicating that it was for them. Charlie agreed that it was good idea, so if students were too scared to give it to the professor in person or knew it would get crushed in their bag. Charlie knew it would get crushed or damaged as soon as she left the great hall, so if she made anything that was worthy enough to go to a professor, it would definitely be going on that table.

Charlie decided to plop down at the same table as Ava, her best friend, to make her craft. She knew whatever her friend made would be way better than what she made, but she just went with it. It was the thought that counted, right?

First, Charlie decided to figure out which professors were going to get the gift. After some thinking, she decided on professor Lécuyer who taught Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor McLoughlin who taught Herbology, and Professor Fresnel who taught Charms. Why did she pick those three classes and Professors? Well they were her favorites. The class was her favorite and the teacher kind of came in a bundle deal with the classes material. So she had to like the professors.

Now to figure out what the heck to make for each professor. Charlie's mind immeidately went to a card, so she would make each professor their own unique card, with something on it that represented the subject.

First up was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. His personality seemed to match the subject pretty well, so Charlie went right for the black construction paper. She also took a sheet of white construction paper and cut out a shape that looked something like a skull. You could tell it was a skull but it was definitely not the best skull in the world. She glued the skull to the paper and flipped open the card to write a message in a white pen.
Dear Professor Lécuyer,
Thank you for being a great teacher. I enjoy your classes very much, as you do a good job teaching in a way we all can understand. Thank you.

Now, she was ready to make the next card for professor McLoughlin. Professor McLoughlin was the herbology Professor so Charlie knew exactly what to make. A plant shaped card would do. She cut out the shape, colored it and opened it up to write her message.

Dear Professor McLoughlin,
Thank you for being a great teacher. I enjoy your classes very much, as you do a good job teaching in a way we all can understand. I also enjoy learning about the different parts and plants of the green house. My favorite so far was the Gillyweed. Thank you.

For her final card, she decided on Professor Fresnel. She taught charms, so a gold glittery wand card would be beautiful and fit. Charlie used a rectangle shape and drew a wand on it. She added loads of glitter, and let it dry. When it was ready, she wrote the message inside.

Dear Professor Fresnel,
Thank you for being a great teacher. I enjoy your classes very much, as you do a good job teaching in a way we all can understand. I also enjoy learning all of the awesome new spells. Can’t wait for next year! Thank you.

Charlie stood up, ready to deliver her cards to the table, but remembered she had forgot someone important! The head of Ravenclaw! She quickly sat down, knowing she had to give him a card. She fiercely drew a wonderful picture of an eagle and made sure it had plenty of Ravenclaw blue. And some glitter.

Dear Mr. Iwasaki,
Thank you for being a great head of house! You don’t teach anything, but you still put in a lot of work to keep the awesome house of Ravenclaw running. I do not know you well, but I do know you deserve a good thank you. Thank you.

After designing the Ravenclaw card for her favorite Ravenclaw staff member, she collected her cards and laid them out behind the photo of each staff member. She took a brief moment to browse some of the other creations that had been left, and took off.
Charlie has left the thread.
