┏ ┓-----L uck was clearly the only way she could have hit him there, he had initially thought.
Avery tried not to slip into the sore loser mindset, but there was no way Beatrice would be so consistently skilled, especially when he wasn’t even at the piste at the moment. He was ducking and weaving through benches and tables, searching for his chestnut wand amidst similarly coloured flooring and carpentry, and if that wasn’t proving nightmare enough; Beatrice had the stuff to hit a man whilst he was down.
The impact of the bolt was no flipendo, but it shunted him into a desk as roiling flame spread up the arm of his sweater. He let out a panicked gasp, he hadn’t been hit with such a powerful incendio in his life. What ensued was nothing but comedy, Monica and Bea could see him flapping his arm about, trying to waft out the flames out but only making matters worse and fanning them.
The heat stung as it burnt through the threads and exposed some of his arm below, fire beginning to singe the skin and create an almighty burn wound. He had done his best to pat it out, relieving some of the pain and removing most of the initial flame, but the arm of his sweater was still alight; with small embers engulfing along defined threads, sparking up again when they encountered more fuel.
All the while, he still had to find his damned wand…┗ ┛

Finally all that practice was paying off. Her skills were clearly better than Leveret's in this moment.
She watched through a mirthful gaze as bright orange flames licked up his arm and onto is skin. Did it matter that he was unarmed and unable to really defend himself? No. He should have been better at dodging her attack.
Had this slight win gone to her head? Possibly. It was just so satisfying to watch as the process of combustion sneaked further and further upwards over his shirt. Which in hind-sight she realised, might have cost him a fair bit of money from the looks of it.
Bea couldn't help but let out a giggle as she watched poor Avery swirl around the piste trying to beat the fire out with the air. His arms flapped in the air like some demented bird trying to fly. Unfortunately for this bird, he wouldn't get very far. This eagle would be waiting to strike him down.
Smirking, she let Avery twirl around the floor for a few moments before commenting, hoping to further incite him. "Hoping to fly away from this duel Leveret? You're not going to get very far with those burned wings...and without a wand!"
Her eyes twinkled with laughter as she looked towards Monica hoping to gauge her reaction, the payback she'd given settling nicely under her skin from the earlier rounds where she'd been tossed about like a dancing ragdoll. Fire was always a good option. Always.

Duration of inflamed: Ends this roundDate | Feb 5th, 2023Jumping into the fourth round, Monica sat at the edge of her seat watching all transpire. Avery was off searching for his Missing wand, all while set on fire! It was quite a show to be sure.
"You doing alright there Avery?" Monica called out, making sure the boy was still well enough to continue the duel, from where she sat he still seemed good, though the fire was dying off, it still seemed to hurt quite a bit.
Attention now turning over to Bea, who seemed to be in a very good position. Her opponent on fire, and still wandless, Monica was quite impressed with how her friend was able to turn all of this around so quickly. Bea raised her wand, looking ready to strike yet again, and though her casting was well fired....Avery was more than ready for anything she threw at him. He was able to dodge well out of the way of the spell, and continue on his search. Though the boy was wandless and on fire, he was still a worthy opponent.
Soon enough Monica saw as Avery emerged from off the piste, wand now in hand, and the fires dying down from him. This duel was far from over!Information

┏ ┓----- D ucking and weaving through the various stools, desks and benches was all he could do until he finally grasped that fickle wand of his, to his benefit as another of her spells shot overhead.
He emerged from the tables with his wand in hand and he climbed the steps of the piste with a competitive grin, he had shrugged it off and things were about to become interesting. The bruning fibres of his sweater were dying out, displaying a fist sized whole on his upper arms, and a soot covered, burned, arm beneath. That must hurt, but the smile he wore spoke of either a strange appreciation for the pain, or a deranged sense of reward that came from continuing through the pain; the idea that he could endure and win. It was possible, and it was closer than he thought.
“Okay, okay.” He gave with a little musicality, as he adopted his duelling stance; a posture that resembled a muggle fencer. He was turned side on, to reduce his profile, with a hand behind his back for elegance and control. He was sure to straighten out so that he could approach this round with a free mind. His mind raced with possible strategies she could undertake, and so he began planning around them.┗ ┛

Bea cursed herself (her writer is cursing at this moment too). Could her spell not land? She'd had relatively good luck in the last few rounds, and this one would have sealed the deal so to speak. Watching her spell fire and miss the stupid Slytherin just made her blood boil! Could he not stand still so she could hit! The fire from her earlier incendio duo was dying down and the grin Avery was sporting was freaking her out. The grin itself wasn't bad, but he had a crazed look about him, as if he enjoyed the burning sensation. Yeah...no thanks.
As Avery found his wand, he stood up to adopt some silly pose like a aristocratic fencer of old. Stupid Slytherin. Just because he acted all high and mighty didn't mean he was! She scoffed, rolling her eyes at the boy. "Trying to act all lordly now are you Leveret? It won't fool me. You're going down!"
Mimicking her opponent, with probably a less poised effect, Bea turned her body so it was side on facing Leveret. She'd never been fencing before. For goodness sake, the girl lived on a farm! She wandered grass felds and swam in rivers in her free time. She didn't do ladylike things, like ballroom dancing or in this case fencing. She felt a sense of hot insecurity settle in her stomach. What a pompous arse he was.
She pointed her wand at Avery, ready for his next move.

Damage: 100 + 8 x 10 =180Date | Feb 5th, 2023Half way through the match, both duellist dished some well casted spells, and took some nasty hits. Monica was at the edge of her seat, loving every moment of this! It was rather thrilling, watching as Bea and Avery battled it out. And from where Monica was sitting, like they were also having fun!
After Avery finally found his wand, he re-entered the piste, looking ready to get back into the duel. Flames have finally singed out, and the boy seemed like he was more than ready to dish back some carnage at the Ravenclaw. Monica heard his spell cast loud and clear... and as she watch it leave his wand, it would seem Bea was more than ready for it, dodged completely out of harms way.
Monica's eyes beamed as she watch Bea not only avoid being hit, but also throw out a Flipendo. It seemed that the speed in which she was able to cast, threw the Slytherin for a loop, hardly giving him anytime to react, and the spell hit it's mark in great force, knocking the boy back several feet. "That's got to hurt". Thought Monica.
Taking a moment, Monica waited to see Avery get up, from where she sat, it looked like a hard blow, "You alright there Leveret?" Monica called out, surely he wasn't down and out just yet. It seemed to her that he was still fit to fight, "All right duel on!" She echoed out!Information

┏ ┓----- T whump.
He felt himself get struck by another bolt of blue arcane energy before he saw it coming. He had only just finished slinging a spell of his own towards the Ravenclaw, having spent so long away from the piste in the first place, before she had managed to pull off some slick manoeuvre to strike from an otherwise unseemly position.
On top of that, it seemed his opponent had recognised the danger he was in. Of course to him, this was entirely expected of a duel with an upperclassman, and yet it was how we conducted ourselves when we had power over others that revealed our hearts and true intent. She had turned from her otherwise friendly demeanour, to something more unkind and unfitting and yet her revealed hand only pleased him. How tiring it must be, to keep up appearances; how freeing it must be, to let the mask slip.
He found himself on the floor, sucking in a breath to stave off the pain of impact. It wasn’t the kind of pain that was unbearable, so he did one of those half-laughs as he tried to both recover is breath and play it off.
Once he had rolled over to his front given Monica’s pause, he puffed a breath of air to move a strand of hair from his face and sent them both a grin that signalled his wellbeing, before he shot a chilling glower at Bea as he pushed himself to all fours, and then to his feet.
“Hah. Mimicry is the- sincerest form, of flattery.” He said breathily. Things just got much harder.┗ ┛

A skip to the left, a skip to the right.
She dodged Avery's spell by what felt millimetres. In the end, what mattered was that she had dodged. Avery wasn't so lucky. Beatrice smirked as she watched the young Slytherin be struck by the blue light of her flipendo. He was being outmanoeuvred and Bea loved it.
She watched as he struggled for breath, his chest heaving and his lungs seeming to suck in deep gaps of sweet, sweet oxygen. "Having a little trouble there Leveret?" She was grateful she'd done plenty of practice. It hadn't been for this because let's be honest, she hadn't seen this coming until last week, but she'd done practiced for the team. When she eventually got on the team. It was her way of proving she was good enough to the captains. If they saw how good she was, maybe they'd let her participate in official duels. Maybe she'd get to verse Avery again too. They were both looking to join their respective teams.
Bea tried and failed to school her facial features towards Avery. Hair askew, breathing laboured. The arrogant pureblood was no where to be seen. Oh wait, yes he was. He only had to open his mouth. She felt her eyebrows raise at Avery's remark, and she barked out a laugh. "Mimicry?" She lazily twirled her wand in her hand. "At least natural selection is playing its part and I'll survive. Unlike some certain snake it seems." She was positive it wouldn't be long now.

18 < 25 (MISS)Date | Feb 5th, 2023Round six, time was flying, and yet it felt like only a moment had passed since the start of this duel. Spells flying back and forth, amazing maneuvers had to avoid being hit. Some spells landing on target, others just missing and splattering on the walls. Though Bea had an excellent last round, nothing is set in stone, this is still anyones game.
Monica held her laugh as the duellist exchanged some smack talk, it was all in good fun, and Monica wished she could jump in, but bite her tongue, not her place to trash talk either side, though every vain in her being wished to! Monica loved the fierceness of competition, and the adrenaline it brought out.
The next round started out hot, Bea, seeming very confident, drew first, letting out a well executed spell, clearly trying to hold onto the advantage she had last round, but Avery seemed ready, barely a sweat broken as he moved out of the way. Was it his slickness, or something else on the Ravenclaw's mind that kept her from being able to be as nimble, as the snake cast his own spell at her. A direct hit!
And with that, Bea's feet began to move about beneath her, displaying an elegant dance, but in a less than ideal situation. She was dancing her heart out, quite well from where Monica was sitting.
The match was coming close to the end, both parties were fighting hard, but nothing was over yet! And Monica couldn't wait to congratulate the winner of this fantastic duel.Information

┏ ┓----- T he snake curled a smile at her retort.
“Oh it’s playing its part alright, though I hardly believe it will end as you expect…” Avery commented, with that same wolfish grin that spoke of an almost maniacal enjoyment. A lock of hair had fallen into his face again, which was flushed and looked surprisingly human for a change; the deathly pale skin pink and healthy; his forehead home to a few small beads of sweat from the battering he was taking.
He almost taunted her to move, and move she did as she shot another bout of flame in his direction, which he nimbly dodged by hopping aside with the speed and dexterity he had observed in his practice with Alan; he was playing out that exact sequence. He weaved his wand at an unlikely angle and flicked it in the appropriate manner as he yelled out an incantation with such sharp ferocity.
“Tarantallegra!” He said, as the beam of arcane energy shot across the piste and struck her and she began an intricate dance once again.
Avery composed himself then, now that he had time to, sweeping his loose hair from his face now and smiling at his wandiwork and letting slip an amused smile.
“Sorry what was I saying?” He said cooly.
