Dora is alright,” Dora said, and Nora beamed a bit inside. Nicknames were one of her favourite things, while she loved giving them to others, she’d only had a few throughout her life. Her dad called her Monkey, her mom called her Ladybug and Jaime called her Nono, but other than that, she’d had no consistent ones. Not that she minded— she was happy with keeping it to ‘Nora’ and giving them to others.
“Hey, our names rhyme,” Nora joked, just realizing that was true, “Nora and Dora.” Tapping her book she added, “Sorry for bothering you with the book, but I’m glad to meet you.”
And she was. Being a first year who came from a ‘muggle’ background, Nora knew no one coming in to Hogwarts. Sure, she’d met Jaime, and a few others on the Hogwarts express, but three or four friends was barely any. Usually, Nora was a social butterfly, but it was hard for her to maintain actual friendships with anyone. She’d say hi, have a blast, but then fuse would fizzle out and she’d be left trying to re-light a damp stick. But maybe, just maybe this time would be different.

"Oh." Dora replies, realizing it too, "So they do." It's still a little strange being so familiar with someone she just met. Nora seems quite nice, though, so Dora doesn't mind.
“Sorry for bothering you with the book, but I’m glad to meet you.”
"Um, no, it wasn't a bother!" Dora reassures, glancing at her own book. "I do need to go study now, though. Sorry." It's an awkward end to the conversation, but she's not sure how to do so gracefully. To be fair, Dora hadn't planned on doing any socializing today. She's already a little worried that she's spent too much time with Nora and ignoring her homework. But, it was nice to meet her..
Dora wonders if she'll come across Nora in the library again. She looks like a first year, but they don't share any classes. It's possible their paths won't cross like they did today, and that makes Dora feel a bit sad. It's not like she expects to become best friends or anything, but.. it's nice being around her.
So, Dora asks, "If you want, and you don't have to, I'm going over there.." She points at a table, "So you want to read there, too.." She hopes she didn't just misread this, that Nora was actually just being polite and doesn't want to hang out. "Or not, that's fine, too!"

Nora was a bit sad that their meeting would end so soon, but she understood Dora's need to complete her homework. It was selfish to keep taking up her time, especially since they'd already beeen talking for quite a bit. After all, Nora was anxious to start reading her newfound treasure (The Tales of Beedle the Bard) anyway, and she figured that it would be awkward to try to continue the conversation. She was about to leave the library, and head to her dorm, when Dora spoke again.
"If you want, and you don't have to, I'm going over there.." Pointing at the table, Dora continued, "So you want to read there, too.."
"Oh, yeah, I'd love to," Nora responded quickly, following Dora over to her spot. She chose a seat nearby, a cushy armchair that she could curl up in. She loved big chair's like that, because they made her feel small, and safe. This one was especially comfy, and it took Nora no time to settle into her book. Together, they sat in peace. While she read gruesome and fantastical tales of adventure and magic, Dora studied transfiguration. At one point, Nora looked up from her book and glanced around. Everything was so calm, so still, with barely anybody left in the library. She dreaded leaving the tranquility, but she knew she would soon have to. At least she could enjoy it for now, with her new friend.
