The Office is Open
A large oak desk stands in the center of the dark blue carpet. All around are work tables and book shelves crammed with a variety of interesting books. Astrological works both ancient and modern, magical and muggle; astronomy texts, some basic and others quite advanced; star charts, maps of the Moon and planets; calendars; almanacks. Comfortable chairs and low tables to rest mugs of chocolate or cups of tea can be found here as well.
The door is always open, during office hours and at other times. One can often find older students and interns here studying. You can almost always find Tungol here! He is Starwise's house elf. While he's always ready with a kettle of tea or some delicious biscuits; he's also pretty smart and wise in his own right. He's travelled far and has been known to help students find books they need or with their studies.
Papers are chronically piled up on the professor's desk--- assignments to be graded; articles in the process of being written; school memos to be ignored --- all the usual! Quite a few plants can also be found in the office. Some hanging from the ceiling, others in pots surrounding the walls, the desk, and the floor. Ferns, spider plants, even some magical plants!
Whenever a student arrives he would greet them courteously: "Greetings my dear learned colleague! What brings you in today?"

Sometimes Ava could be welcoming. Rumors had been floating around the school that there was a new Astronomy professor. Ava wanted to see for herself.
As Ava made her way up to the Astronomy tower, she realized she was still in her school robes. It was, after all, just after class had gotten out, and she hadn’t had time to change. Maybe her Slytherin robes would make the professor like her. Who knew. They had probably gone to Hogwarts once. Maybe.
As Ava climbed up to the the top of the stairs, she considered what to do next. Knock? Barge in? As much as she had tried to lose it, she still had a mischievous side. She was ready to do the latter.
Ava was prepared to ram her shoulder into the door, just to make her entrance all the more dramatic. Only problem was, she found the door was open. Oh well.
“Hello professor! How do ya do?” Ava called in greeting, already poking around to see what was changed from the start of the year.
She made her way to his desk, examining the contents of it. It was clean, but probably because the professor hadn’t needed to make it messy. Well, besides a stack of papers. Okay. The desk was pretty messy. Ava grabbed a lava lamp and held it up. “Into muggle things, are you?”
She set it back down, finally turning to examine the professor. “I’m Ava. You’ve probably heard about me.” She held out her hand for the professor to take. Might as well introduce herself to the professor before he heard things about her.
She continued to examine his classroom. “Not too bad.” She watched the professors reaction. “Like what you did with it here.”

He laid his head down on his desk, only to discover a girl holding his lava lamp. "Hello. And yes, I'm a huge fan of muggle items, specifically when it comes to fifty years ago, in the muggle world. But, ma'am," Octavius stated calmly. He gestured for the lava lamp to be placed back on the desk. "Respectfully, please put the lamp down. I don't want it broken, I also don't want you injured. Ask before you do anything that involves touching what resides on my desk."
The astronomy professor glanced over at the girl, as she seemed to want the man to know who she was. "Right. Ava." He said, proceeding to pretend like he absolutely heard about her. "So, surely you've done something so nefarious to be known in a school with hundreds of kids."
But he found that the conversation didn't last too long- as Ava was looking around his office.
"Yes, so, I'm Octavius, you may call me Professor Baird. What do you need me for? Any assistance in homework? Need permission for a club to enter- or use the classroom for any purpose besides class?"
Baird continued to look as stern as he possibly could muster in front of the first year.

Professor of Astronomy's Office
Welcoming was one way to describe how Ava was acting. Nosy was another. She was really just in the office to poke around, but she did realize she would need some excuse as to why she was there.
The teacher made a poor attempt to scold Ava for touching his things. She shrugged nonchalantly, not really caring. "How does this thing work?" She tapped her nail on the glass before turning to the professor.
"Right. Ava." There was a note of…something in his statement. Skepticism? Sure sounded like it. "So, surely you've done something so nefarious to be known in a school with hundreds of kids." Ava rolled her eyes, although it was sort of refreshing to have someone not know her. She considered briefly telling the professor more, but figured he didn’t want to hear it. She herself was already getting bored with the conversation. It sure wasn’t going to last much longer at the rate.
The first year was definitely looking to rile up a sort of reaction out of the professor, be it positive or negative. An attention seeker, that was a great way to describe Ava. She didn’t try to be annoying, she was just always looking to have all eyes on her.
He introduced himself as Professor Baird, and she couldn’t help but wanting to interrupt. But she wouldn’t. She would wait until he finished with his ramble. "So you’re what, Clark’s father?" She didn’t know Clark personally, but she had heard him to be nothing but trouble, annoying and on the brink of expulsion. Heard him to be, key words. "So I was wondering if I could have me and my friends--" She didn’t know who to consider a friend. Her and Charlie still weren’t on speaking terms. Anyhow, this was just a distraction so Ava could stay in the office for a little bit longer. "--could come and hang out up here some night and look at the stars." She finished her thought, and continued to watch the professor. There was something…funny about him, whatever it was.

"The lava lamp. Right. How it works is no concern of yours. Suffice it to say that it's not even on. I just like the look of it, the shape of it. Take muggle studies, or as a matter of fact, ask @Maya Galim how lava lamps work. And stop tapping the glass, I really don't want it broken. I had to exchange some of my galleons to muggle currency- pounds- to buy this at an antique shop."
Octavius looked at the girl, before she asked about his son. "Yes, Clark Baird is my son. Why? Are you friends with him?"
A short breath, and then he straightened his posture again. "He's the reason," He paused. "I began my career here, I like to think. His actions of misfortune were always sad to hear about, but I'm also here to help comfort him over a family issue. But, enough about me. Listen, it's nice to meet you and all, but I don't think it's time right now to discuss different dilemmas in my life."

After learning that professor Octavius Baird is coming to be the new professor of Astronomy after professor Farron Horne, Cassie doesn't want to hesitate to meet this new professor.
Carefully, she tidied herself and walks up to the Astronomy Tower. When she arrives at the door, it is slightly opened. She can tell from the door that the last student has just left. She knocks on the door and says, 'Hello professor Baird. I am Cassie Jiang, a first year Ravenclaw. Firstly, congratulations for becoming the new Astronomy professor. This is a well-loved subject among us students. I am also a great fan of Astronomy. I had Os in every Astronomy homework before with Professor Farron Horne.'
'What's more, I am the head of the Astronomy Club here. And I also want to discuss this with you. For we might need to use the Astronomy tower for future activities. May I come in, sir?'
Cassie is a bit excited. For she knows that this meet with Professor Octavius Baird will form a first impression of her in professor Baird's mind. She needs to be polite and intelligent, someone everyone likes. She takes deep breath, and waits, patiently, excitedly.

As the professor of astronomy watched the young woman walk into his office, he smiled. She had the look of determination and curiosity that he recognized so well. He'd been in the field of astronomy for many years and seen a lot of students come and go, but this one seemed to stand out.
The professor was excited to learn that the student was interested in the field of astronomy, and hoped to make access to the field easier for her. She told him about her passion for astronomy simply by mentioning that she's the head of the astronomy club and her ambition to make it her focus- as it was well-liked to the students- at least, according to her, which further stirred his interest and enthusiasm. He considered to offer her access to the department's extensive library of books, journals and research papers that could help to further her knowledge.
"Good job, I will say, for making straight Outstanding grades!" The man grinned, his cheekbones showed.
"Do you want to tell me more about your Astronomy Club and how it'll impact using the equipment in here. Listen, I'll likely always be in here- so if you're worried about supervision, I'm in here. If it's about tools- unless I say otherwise, you're only permitted to use the telescopes."

Cassie walks inside the office, standing straight and quietly, listening to professor Octavius Baird. 'Thank you sir,' she says, as she hears the praise from the professor. 'It wasn't easy for me, but the result is great. I will continue to work hard on Astronomy and other subjects.'
As the professor is telling her about the club, Cassie takes out a piece of parchment she has brought to take down some notes after this meet with the professor. She writes down the words. 'No worries for supervision. Only telescopes.' 'Thank you sir.' she says with a warm smile, 'I will keep that in mind. It's great that you are usually here. You must be a great professor!'
She pauses, and decides to give her tiny idea for Astronomy. 'Well, I do have a tiny idea to make my favourite subject Astronomy even more fun! It's called Great Astronomy. You know, sir, I have been always wondering such a special activity for students, where we can be led by the professor to explore more on ourselves. For example, the topic Planets in the Solar System is given, and students can form groups of four on their own. Each group is given two weeks to make a poster or write an essay about one planet in the Solar System. I will enjoy the exploration and cooperation throughout this activity. I hope I made this clear, sir.' Cassie waits carefully, for a reply.

Standing at the edge of his desk, Octavius extended his hand, and made the motion of 'come here' with his fingers. "I pray that you do continue to excel in your other classes. If you start to struggle in any of your other classes, come talk to me- and your professor, and we can work out something. It'll probably end up being a tutoring session, as we needed to happen."
Octavius grinned, but quietly removed the lava lamp that resided on his desk, just to move forward again both physically and mentally. Again, he moved. Couldn't seem to stand still today, might have been a bit distraught. "Do tell me a bit mor- Oh you're telling me now."

Professor of Astronomy's Office
Axyen was nervous, he loved Astronomy, and although for the first lesson he was tired, by times the lesson was over he was excited. So naturally he read a few books based on Astronomy, they were about the possibility of life outside of Earth and Axyen found the topic extremely interesting. Of course his mom was not here as well as his dad or his brother, although Axyen probably wouldn't tell his brother anyways because he still didn't know how to break the news that he was in Hufflepuff and not Gryffindor. He decided to not owl his family either. So he thought and though. Who is interested in Astronomy? Axyen thought to himself, and the answer came right to him. The Astronomy professor! Axyen thought.
Axyen was hoping the Astronomy professor would be interested in this subject about Astronomy and it wasn't something he heard multiple times before, but Axyen decided to go for it anyways, just wanting to discuss the topic with anybody, but he was interested on what his professor would think.
Axyen now had to look for the Astronomy Tower where did the Prefect lead him too? Axyen decided to try multiple and various corridors. This was one of the more tougher classes to find, and he was still struggling to find it. Axyen wouldn't give up though, this wasn't his first time being absolutely lost, but he kept moving on. He eventually just got lucky and managed to find the correct corridor and was now outside professor Baird's office.
Axyen took a deep breath. "You can do this. You can do this." Axyen told himself as he raised his fist and did three(3) knocks on the door.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
They weren't obnoxiously loud, but they weren't silent either, just average knocking. Axyen nervously adjusted his stance.
