This thread is open to anyone. Please don't post more than once so I can reply to everyone. Thank you! Cypresse will also be introuduced in this thread!
The castle was magnificent. She had been here for the interviews and all the other red tape before getting the job, but coming here knowing it would be her home and career was a new feeling altogether. It was freeing. She would usher in a new generation of wizards, preparing them for whatever events and dangers the world may be holding for them in the future. She would teach them lessons of the past to prepare their young minds for days to come. Or at least she hoped so. Not only that but her little sister would come here to teach as well. It would truly be a new home. It was time for her entrance to the ancient castle.
Aoi is a bit unconventional. She preferred to dress modernly, disliking the stuffy robes usually worn by wizarding kind. She was dressed for the chilly Scottish weather as she strolled into the castle. She wore a sleek black leather jacket, marked with a turquoise scarf around her neck. Blue jeans and black heeled boots that clicked with each step she made in the corridors. It was dinner in the Great Hall and so the corridors were mostly empty, allowing an eerie echo to move down the hall, preempting her arrival.
She arrived at the door to the great hall in short order, turning to face the entrance. Quite a few new Professors were arriving today, she absently wondered how many had arrived already. Didn't matter. It was her turn, and she was bursting with excitement to meet her pupils. She pushed the door open, letting a flood of warmth and sound wash over her. The hall was packed with feasting students, from the smallest first year to the largest seventh. Adrenaline surged through her body in anticipation.
She walked briskly through the hall, gathering stares from a myriad of students, others uncaring as they focused on friends or food. It mattered not to Aoi. She would give every student a chance, but those who refused her help would be on their own. Aoi didn't help anyone who didn't at least try. A sentiment she shared with her sister. Cy and Aoi had left at similar times, but Aoi was nervous if Cy had made it here safely. She didn't see her yet, but Aoi trusted her instincts and they said Cy was fine. She was sure she'd see her soon.
As she reached the front of the hall, she claimed her spot at the professor's table. Once she had clearance to speak, she raised her voice, it's tone belonging to the London accent.
Greetings students of Hogwarts! My name is Aoi Risa. That's ah-oh-ee ree-sah. However, if my name is too complex you may simply call me Professor Sky. I will be taking charge of your History education. I absolutely adore teaching, and I hope you all can get along with me. I plan to try to make class as fun as possible, while imparting my knowledge upon you. At this time, you may approach to ask any questions you may have for me. I'm an open book.
She smiled as she sat back down into her chair. She was truly joyful. Now to meet the ducklings.
Sometimes, making the wrong choice is better than making no choice. You have the courage to go forward, that is rare.

There had been a hoard of new professors entering the castle for the new school term. So many that it wasn’t easy for Aurelia to keep track of them and their names. There also had been a departure some professors. Perhaps it was the strange happenings and the events of the mask man that led to them exiting the school.
The brunette looked up from the silver plate she was eating from as a raven haired woman entered the hall. Another new professor. She had announced her presence with much spirit, it was good to know that at least the professor was enthusiastic in her teachings. There were some which could seem to stand students even though their job was a professor.
Aurelia dabbed the corner of her lips with a napkin as she finished her meal. She briefly muttered an excuse to her friends before leaving the crapped seat. The Professor had an odd name, Oai it was. Aurelia was going to take the opportunity to ask her a few questions and at least get on the new professor’s good side. Her grades were at stake.
“Professor Aoi, you’re the new history professor my friends were talking about. I’m Aurelia Bezuidenhout, Gryffindor.” The brunette introduced herself with a smile.

As Aoi sat at the table, she was keeping an eye out for Cypresse. She was bound to be here soon. Aoi's worry was growing though. Her protective nature was blazing inside her. Cy needed to be here soon or Aoi would begin to panic.
As she scanned the crowd, a young Gryffindor girl approached the bright-eyed woman. Aoi's bright hazel eyes locked on the girl, clearing moving toward her. It didn't take long for the young duckling to reach her.
Aoi was pleasantly surprised that the girl said her name correctly. That told the Professor that the girl was capable of listening. A good basic skill that far too many lacked. A smile spread across Aoi's face, a joy in her heart.
"Greetings Miss Bezuidenhout. It is a pleasure to meet such a bright young girl. I like your name. It sounds Dutch, is that correct?"
Aoi's elbows braced against the table so she could rest her head on her intertwined hands.
Did you have a question for me? As I said earlier, I'm an open book. Nothing too personal though. I'm here to help you.
Aoi was already chomping at the bit to get to class. She was dying to start, but her practiced patience was more than enough to hold back the energy.

History of Magic was one of Amanda’s favorite subjects, if not her all-time favorite. She found it fascinating to learn about past wizarding events. It was way more interesting than Muggle history. But, how much Amanda liked a class also depended on the professor. The previous professor, Alpheus Wordsworth, had been absolutely amazing. But that didn’t mean that the new History of Magic professor wouldn’t be just as good, or maybe even better.
Amanda entered the Great Hall and listened to the new History of Magic professor speak. Yeah, I think I’ll take her up on that offer to call her Professor Sky. Amanda slowly walked up to the professor’s table upon Professor Sky’s invitation. She cleared her throat and addressed the dark-haired woman seated in front of her. “Hello. I’m Amanda, Amanda Sparrow, from Ravenclaw. You're the new History of Magic professor, huh? I really like that class.” Amanda smiled shyly and pushed her glasses back up her nose. Her confidence in talking to adults was slightly growing, but it was still rather minuscule. It could be very intimidating to talk to adults. They just seemed to already know everything that there is to know about life. I wonder if when you’re an adult you just randomly get all of that knowledge?

Hogwarts again. The air was cold on Cy's face, lazy breezes of frigid air kissing her cheeks. Now, however, a wave of warmth and amity rolled pleasantly past her like the warm waters of summer beaches in Asia. Cypresse smiled softly into the wave and shifted her hand on the polished wood of her cane, her fingers running over the dimpled pelt of the carved leopard at its top, and took her first step into the castle that was her greatest home for seven years. It seemed that it was to be her home for several more years, now.
White noise gathered around her. The familiar chatter of students, though the voices seemed so much younger now than they did then, was accompanied by the slide of ceramic on wood, silverware against porcelain, ice ringing against glass and laughter tingling those who heard it. The candlelight cast its glow of heat on everyone below, and the stone was strong and steadfast beneath her feet, rattling against her sweeping cane. Still, she stepped carefully, not wanting to startle anyone.
Cy had chosen not to alarm. Rich mulberry silk had been wrapped around her head, loosely knotted in the back. Her blindsight would be impaired, but it would likely be more clear to the students, and her blindness would be more obvious. She could hear the footsteps hurrying to get out of her way as she made her path slowly across the Great Hall, practically feel the wondering eyes fixed upon her. She'd worn a robe, but the black silk was drawn across her waist by a strand of copper beads and thin hoops dangled from her ears, half-hidden in the curtain of black hair. A few more strands of beads were woven into the cloth over her eyes, and the cool metal caressed her cheekbone as she walked.
Her journey ended at the end of the hall. Cypresse paused, uncertain of what to do-- her cane hit the wall, and she remembered the general layout of the Great Hall, but her memory was not so skilled as to retain every detail of the room over her five years away from it. The table should have been directly in front of her after she turned left, but how to ascend...?
She wondered after Aoi. Her sister had left earlier than she had, meaning that she was probably already sitting at the table already - and yet Cy was still too far away to detect any voices belonging to adults. The young woman debated, vascillating. Either she could make the announcement of her arrival in the present, or she could ask for aid - a student would likely be kind enough to provide her an escort, and there seemed to be many around her.
Cy decided on the latter. The very first thing she learned from blindness was how to ask for help - the most important, exigent skill that one could have, blind or not. As per habit, her left hand raised slightly as she spoke. "If someone might assist me to the Professors' Table," the woman spoke, her tone soft but firm and assertive enough to communicate authority. If nobody came, although unlikely, Aoi would certainly see her now.

There were many new professors joining the staff at Hogwarts for Amadea's second year. While she would miss those who had departed, she was excited to get to know her new teachers and hopefully work with them. A lot of them seemed very nice and young, and Amadea hoped they would have some great ideas to bring to the school!
She entered the Great Hall, realizing there were already some students and professors in it. As Amadea tried to recognize who they were, she realized that some of the new professors were there. How coincidental, she thought to herself. This would be a wonderful opportunity for her to introduce herself. Amadea took a deep breath. The whole talking to people thing was still stressful and Amadea didn't enjoy it. Hopefully, the professors were nice enough and wouldn't think she was a stuttering fool.
As she walked over, Amadea saw a few other students also introducing themselves to the professors. Amadea recognized a few of the people and decided to go over to the Professor who had just introduced herself as Professor Risa. She seemed like a nice person.
"Hi," Amadea said with a smile, sticking out her hand for a handshake. "I'm Amadea Campbell, Hufflepuff. You're the new History of Magic professor, right?"

The influx of new professors was enough to make young Isabella Hills head spin. If the arrival of the new schooling year, and the events leading up to it, hadn't been enough to make her stressed then the unannounced arrival of multiple new professors was enough to stress her out.
Although the arrival of so many was confusing, she couldn't help but be curious about the new teachers, and the disappearance of the old ones. Naturally, she questioned why the old ones had picked up and left so suddenly. Guessing guesses that could very well be bang on like staffing disagreements to wild ones such as a sudden dragon pox outbreak thay suddenly whipped out most of the replaced professors. And she could hardly deny her suspicions of Masked Man involvement.
Making her way to the Great Hall with the wave of students ranging from Second Years to Seventh Years, the young Slytherin kept her eyes peeled for any sign of unknown adults.
Icy blue resting on an unknown woman, she barely heard the words that came out of the woman's mouth. Guessing she was one of the new professors, she darted through the crowd of students - cautiously making her way over to unknown adult. Awkwardly grabbing the woman's elbow in an attempt to lead her, she spoke in a quiet, soft voice as soon as fingers touched material. "Here, the professors table is this way. It's not far. I'm Isabella, Isabella Hills. But please, call me Bella. Miss Hills makes me sound old. I'm a Second Year in Slytherin this year."
The brunette could hardly keep the pride out of her voice as she spoke about the house of emerald. Slytherin had quickly become her family - even after her hesitation of the Sorting Hats decision. Around the middle of her First Year, she had realised that the house had become her schooling family without her knowing. The pride she held for her house had come hand in hand with the realisation, and she had made a silent vow to stand by her house until the very end - no matter what.
This attitude had caused clashes between her and other students - the most memorable being between her and a certain Ravenclaw in her year by the name of Luna Aurelius.
Starting to lead the woman through the doors after finally working up the courage to grasp her hand, she tried to make the 'general small talk adults always seemed to be referring too.
"Are you one of the new professors this year? What subject do you teach Miss..." Trailing off at the uncertainty of the woman's name, she focused instead on the distinctive features of her. For one, it seemed to be obvious she was visually limited. With the cane, and the asking for help to find the Professors Table, you didn't need to be a Ravenclaw to figure this much out.

You see? Even death has a heart.

Arthur was sitting with a group of classmates at the Hufflepuff table when the new professor came in and made her announcement. Absorbed in what he was reading, he didn't even notice it at first, anymore than the regular din of the Great Hall, and it wasn't until several people near him started commenting on it that he realized something of importance had happened. Closing his book, he looked up and tried to catch hold of the conversation going on around him.
"-t's the new History of Magic professor."
"She must've just arrive today!"
"What do you think she'll be like?"
Arthur looked over to the table where the black haired woman was continuing to address them. ...I will be taking charge of your History education...
"I don't know.. I liked our old History of Magic professor," he mumbled glumly. He'd liked a lot of their old professors, in fact. And now they were gone. And the reasons why ranged from the mundane (they'd agreed to stay on a few months until their replacements could arrive) to the utterly implausible (they were part of a secret network of vampires set on taking over the school).
If he was honest, he was still kind of down about it. But it was stupid to continuing being childishly upset over something that you couldn't change. After all, History of Magic was one of his favorite subjects at Hogwarts so far. And there was no reason to think that that would change now, just because their teacher had changed. The new professor seemed nice enough...
"I plan to try to make class as fun as possible, while imparting my knowledge upon you. At this time, you may approach to ask any questions you may have for me. I'm an open book."
So instead, he took a breath, summoned up his Hufflepuff positivity, and smiled. "I'm going to go talk to her," he announced decisively, standing up from his house table. He tucked his book under his arm and walked over to the table where a small number of students were already gathering. He arrived just as the professor was asking another student if she had a question for her. He waited patiently for her to finish hers, if she had any, before adding one of his own;
"Is the syllabus going to be the same?" he asked. "Or will we study something different now?" Honestly, he was okay with either. He liked the topics they were covering now, but a new subject could be just as interesting.
"Oh, I'm Arthur," he added. "Welcome to Hogwarts!"

“Yes, thank you, it’s Dutch.” Aurelia smiled. Most of her friends could never pronounce her name right the first time, perhaps it was something natural to an adult.
But as soon as she spoke, a wave of students had introduced herself, one was a red head, Amadea Campbell whom she knew as a helpful Hufflepuff. Some she wasn’t very familiar with. She noted a dark haired girl’s name, Amanda Sparrow, she was a first year definitely as Aurelia was she she hadn’t seen her around the previous year.
It bothered Aurelia a little that they had interrupted her, but who could blame them, a chance to introduce yourself to a professor was hard not to grab it or even snatch. Still, she was the first to arrive, she hope the first come first serve basis was in action else she’s have trouble talking over the other students.
Another student, a shorter boy had joined them. Arthur Morgan. Aurelia had seen him briefly during the summer, they had acquainted quickly. Aurelia was glad he had gone straight to the point, to his questions.
“Yes, I’d like to know what would be covered for second years. It’s never to early to start revising.”

Aoi was attracting quite the amount of students now. This was pleasing and the woman thrived in the chaos of competing for attention. She would carefully address each of them in turn, making sure to acknowledge each child before her. First there was the Ravenclaw girl, who expressed an interest in History.
"Hello Miss Sparrow. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoy the class, hopefully, you'll continue to like it under my care. I look forward to seeing you in class." Aoi shifted to the other girl who had approached, a Hufflepuff. "Greetings Miss Campbell. Indeed I am. I look forward to seeing you in class as well." Not long after her, yet another Hufflepuff boy approached, inquiring about the syllabus of her class. His sentiment was soon echoed by the young Miss Bezuidenhout. Luckily, Aoi had prepared her syllabus as soon as she had been informed for her employment. A smile spread across her face, as she leaned back into a straighter posture. "Well yes, the syllabus will be changing a little. I will be covering more relevant topics. You can look forward to studying the more recent past, including things such as the Wizarding Wars and Dark Wizards. We’ll also cover prominent figures in History. I”ll be posting the full syllabus, as well as handing out copies for your reference once you attend your first class."
At this point Aoi had shifted her vision just enough to notice her sister being guided to the Professor’s table by a young Slytherin girl. Aoi’s lit up as relief flooded her. Cy had made it with no issues. Aoi could rest a little easier knowing this. She stood up, hands braced against the table. She called out to her sister, trying to catch her attention, and lead the guide and Cy to Aoi. "Cypresse! Cy! I’m over here. Just keep with your guide! I have a new scarf for you! I’m so happy you made it.".
