───── Twas a peaceful Saturday morning. The weather was bliss, with barely any wind at all, and the sun letting out a warm glow. The temperature had slipped out of its winter phase and entered its spring, pushing Lilliana out of her dorm and out to the Great Lake. She hadn’t been outside in a while, the first year was too sensitive to the cold wintry weather to bother going outside. Except once for a chat with Essa and Cai. But that was a month ago, back in March -- and the weather was not pleasant. Luckily, it didn't seem like she would freeze outside this time.

She wore nicer clothes than she normally was used to wearing in the mornings. A beige tank top was mostly obscured by her coat, which was thin and didn’t offer much protection against cold weather, but Lilliana somehow felt more secure in wearing it. She wore a nice white pair of wide-leg pants, her purple socks poking out from underneath. She didn’t feel like wearing shoes, in case they got wet a little, but she didn’t feel like going out barefoot and sticking her toes in the water -- She didn't feel like getting wet today. A pair of sunglasses rested on her pale blond hair. She also wore a necklace...

The Slytherin jogged down the sloping hill, sitting right by the loch, and peering in. It happened in the blink of an eye. She had worn a necklace Caiomhe had gifted her for her birthday, a gold chain with a butterfly charm hanging from the middle. As she leaned in to look at the lake’s surface, she felt the necklace unlatch from her neck, slipping ever so swiftly from her neck into the Great Lake with a loud plop!

Her green eyes enlarged, and she hastily stumbled to her feet, tucking her pale blond hair behind her ears, and tried to get a better view. She couldn't see her necklace -- where had it disappeared to? “No, no, no,” She murmured. She couldn't lose her necklace! She loved that necklace, and Cai had gifted it to her as a present, what would Lilliana say if they asked about it? What do I do? Lilliana wondered while biting her lip, panicked.

Unfortunately, Lilliana couldn't start assessing her options, because out of nowhere, she felt someone bump into her -- or did they push her? Shove, maybe? Was it even a person? The blond-haired girl couldn't figure that out, because she was wide-eyed. Lilliana was falling, and falling quite fast, into the Great Lake. She was unsure what to do, grab for something. It was too late for that. Lilliana covered herself, mostly her head, and her hair, before landing with a loud splash into the lake.

Colin had been out for a long run this morning. It was a perfect day for it, too! The Sun was warm on his skin and there was enough breeze up in the high meadows to give a nice balance between warm and cool. He'd had a lot to think about too. Of course, Clair. She always filled his mind and his heart with every thought imaginable! There was the visit to her farm and the spring ball, and all the adventures they'd had during both!

Colin's heart was soaring higher than any eagle!

As he ran back down towards the loch for a quick dip and an exhilarating scourgify to follow, his mind wandered towards the creatures --- and people --- that inhabited the lake. He thought he saw a Mermaid once, from the huge windows in the common room, but it was so dark, it was hard to tell. He didn't want to swim down to the bottom, out in the deeper parts of the lake, because Clair would very calmly lecture him on the dangers of being quite that stupid.

Plus, Colin knew it would break her heart if he did something like that after promising her that wouldn't go far out at all. Still, he thought it would be really cool if he could meet a Mermaid sometime, up closer to the shore! With those thoughts swirling around in his head, he realised that he was close to his favourite spot along the lake shore. Not the usual spot where everyone went, but the more secluded bit where he liked to clean up after a run.

He started to take his shirt off, this time not bothering with the buttons, but rather pulling it off over his head. This proved to be rather more difficult than he had envisaged, for he'd managed to get it bunched up around his long thick braid! His feet, long familiar with the pathway down to the water, told him that he was coming around the last bend. His ears, however shouted an alarm! He heard a voice just around the corner --- a familiar voice!

It was a bit muffled because of the whole shirt situation, but he knew it belonged to a fellow Snek! "Alora? Is that you sis? I --- oof!"

THUMP!

SPLASHSH!!!

"Oh, crap! Lora? You okay sis?" Colin managed at last to get his shirt off, only to realise that he'd bumped right into someone! Welp. The mass of pale blonde hair in the water ruled out Alora as the victim of the accident! "Crap! It's Opal all over again!" Colin didn't waste any time. He threw his shirt to the side and slipped out of his kilt, hoping that she knew how to swim at least!

Colin jumped into the loch.

───── For the warm weather, she hadn’t expected the lake to be that cold! Immediately, the first year felt the frigid water seeping in through her clothes -- Oh wait! Her clothes. She groaned. Just perfect. Her clothes were ruined too. Lilliana began pushing herself up to the surface when she felt something brush her hands. She flinched slightly, before realizing the familiar texture of her necklace! She grasped the necklace tightly (there was no way she’d let it get loose again) and managed to reach the surface, gasping for air.

Lilliana thought they may have mentioned Alora, and the word sis intertwined somewhere? Wait, was the person who pushed her into the lake Alora’s sibling? Lilliana was very confused now. They had also mentioned Opal. The mudblood? What did she have to do with any of this? And why did their voice sound familiar? Spitting out water, she tried getting a better look at the person, but her vision was still blurry. “What the fuck.” Lilliana fumed. She was making an effort not to yell. Her voice came out very strained though, and her words were sent through a harsh tone that could not be misinterpreted.

As her sight became more focused, she realized they had jumped into the lake after her. I don't need saving, I know how to swim, Lilliana thought bitterly. Well, sort of. She wasn’t that excellent a swimmer, but she could stay afloat for a bit, though it looked more like she was flailing around in the water, but still! Honestly, she felt some sort of satisfaction at the fact that they were wet as well. But that still didn’t make up for the fact that she was shoved into the lake. Her clothes were drenched, and her hair, her hair which was so smooth and luscious a a few minutes ago was soggy, and now a total mess.

By now her eyes were adjusted to the scene around her, and they concentrated around them. Her eyes narrowed slightly, before popping open in recognition. “You’re Colin, right?” Colin McCoire, wasn’t it? Yes, it was. She recalled him from the Spin the Bottle game Opal had set up a while back. They were the one that Lilliana landed on. And snogged. It wasn’t even that bad a snog either, rather nice, actually! But that didn't change the fact that they pushed her into the lake. She was having a nice morning, until he came along and shoved her in. Sure, she had gotten her necklace back from the loch. But why did she have to sacrifice her hair for it?

She dragged herself back up to shore, pulling her knees to her chest, and wrapping her arms around her legs while shivering, scowling at Colin. This was not how she anticipated how the day would go. “Are you Alora’s brother?” Lilliana questioned, gingerly brushing her dank hair. It seemed like touching her hair made her more irritated, “And why did you shove me in?” Lilliana asked shrilly. She crossed her arms tightly, sighing loudly. Lilliana raised her eyebrows, waiting for their answer impatiently.

Wait. She patted her head. Her sunglasses were no longer there. She groaned, Not again, She had to dress up nice today, she should have just come out here in old pajamas and sweatpants... Her sunglasses were pleasant. But there was no way she would go back to the lake again, even though she was already wet. Better than losing her necklace, anyway. “Just... Go get my sunglasses... They are in there, somewhere. Are you capable of doing that?” Lilliana said with a smirk. It was worth a shot to have them go get it instead of her. They pushed her in the lake, they pick up the mess they made. It only seemed fair. If they said no, well, at least tried.

The water was soooo nice! Brisk and exhilarating! Colin splashed about while the head of lovely blonde hair broke the surface. With a curse! Colin raised his eyebrow. That wasn't a very nice way to greet someone on a beautiful Saturday morning! "Well good morning to you too!" The girl in the water sounded angry, but clearly she was not in any kind of distress, so Colin decided to splash around a bit. SPLASH! Since she was already wet, a little more water wouldn't hurt.

"So, what are ye doing in the lake? Lilliana, isn't it? I remember you from Opal's snogging game. That was fun! Ye're a good kisser, lass!" Colin nodded appreciatively. How could he not? The girl was part Veela? He'd certainly have another go with Lilliana, if they were playing spin the bottle together! She asked him if he were Alora's brother. Colin gave her a confused look. "Alora's brother? Graves, right? Princess of Pranks? No! I think I'd know my own sisters, right?" Colin thought that Lilliana's question was rather suspect. "Wait. What are you on about? That's a pretty sus thing to ask someone!"

Colin kicked about a bit, floating on his back. "Sorry about the shove, lass. That was totally accidental! I didn't see you until after I bumped into you. Why were you leaning over the lake anyway? Were you looking for something?" Colin looked her up and down as she got out of the water. Whoa. Lilliana was really beautiful getting out of the water. Mind you, Colin reckoned Clair would be just as lovely! He wondered why Veelas had this effect on him. His eyes narrowed. He spotted something shiny in her hand.

Colin smirked. "Out for a little treasure hunting?" He nodded towards her hand. "I've found all sorts of cool things in here!" But the girl seemed to be unnecessarily huffy. A little water never hurt anyone! You'd think she was the wicked witch of the west and would melt or something! She asked him to fetch her sunglasses. "Sure! I can do that!" Colin sighed. Veela beauty and Veela anger didn't mix very well! He'd really have to work on how he behaved around them!

Colin realised that he was diving into the water to fetch her glasses, when by rights he should told her to fetch them herself if she was going to get all bitchy. He found the glasses eventually. It's not like he shoved her in on purpose or anything! As he came back up to the surface, he stuck the girl's glasses into in thick hair. Making sure he actually had his boxers on this time, Colin got out of the water. He shook himself like a dog.

Right next to Lilliana.

Water droplets flew in every direction! Colin held the girl's glasses high up over her head. "What's the magic word, lass?"

───── Unfortunately, Colin seemed to like the water more than Lilliana did. But he was just wearing his boxers, meanwhile, Lilliana had worn layers of elegant clothing. She scoffed at their first comment. How did they expect her to be cheery? The Slytherin was soaked, and her clothes were beginning to feel squishy. Gross. And it didn't help that Colin was beginning to splash around in the water. “Do you mind?” She scowled, shielding her face from the water. The blond-haired girl was already wet, but she was annoyed nonetheless.

At Colin’s question, Lilliana heaved a dramatic sigh and responded with a roll of her eyes, “Well, I was by the lake, the view’s rather nice out here! The weather’s not so bad either, I was planning to stay out here for a bit, but then I got shoved in the lake,” Lilliana stated. “What about you, how come you were out here?” She asked. “Er... Yeah, I’m Lilliana,” She reddened at his next remark. Technically it was her first snog, she hadn't realized that until after she had spun -- talk about bad timing! But the kiss was rather nice, she had to admit. “Uh, you too? It wasn’t that bad, actually,” Lilliana mused. Not bad at all...

At her question about Alora, the look of confusion on his face pretty much settled it, but he answered anyways. She rolled her eyes slightly at him calling her sus, and merely replied, “Just curious,” Though something else he said caught her attention, and she raised her eyebrow slightly, “Wait. Princess of Pranks?” Lilliana wondered what Alora must have done to earn that title, they had pelted them with dungbombs at the Spin the Bottle thing, what other mischief had Alora gotten herself into?

When Colin apologized for the shove, Lilliana felt a bit squeamish inside. She was never the best when it came to dealing with apologies, so she didn’t do much other than give a curt nod and bit her lip. They said it while floating on their back. He looked very relaxed. She frowned, “How don’t you find it cold in there?” Lilliana wondered aloud. She always seemed to be more sensitive to cold weather than others, which she found frustrating often. The lake was so cold, how could Colin handle it?

Lilliana nodded, “Yeah, I was, I accidentally dropped my necklace into the lake, got it back though,” She held out the necklace Caiomhe had given her. Her grip on it remained strong. The necklace was still in good shape, slightly damp, and a little cool in her palm, but it seemed to look alright, and she wouldn’t let it out of her sight anytime soon. Losing the necklace triggered quite some panic out of the first year! She scrunched her forehead, “Cool things? Like what?” Lilliana said, an eager expression on her face, temporarily forgetting she was supposed to be mad at this person.

The Slytherin grinned as Colin dove under to retrieve her glasses. She honestly didn't think that worked. Maybe they weren't so bad. He got out of the water, shaking himself off, water splattering all over Lilliana's face. Her scowl returned, and she shielded herself from the water flying at her! Wiping her once again wet face, she shot an irritated look at the older boy. "Dry yourself off somewhere else!" She groaned. Lilliana was just beginning to become dry, she didn't need herself getting drenched all over again!

“Hand me my sunglasses,” Lilliana said, exasperated. But they didn’t. The first year tried to snatch it away, but he held it too high up for her to reach. “Give it back!” What was the point of diving in to get the sunglasses if they weren’t even going to give them to her? She took a long look at her sunglasses while Colin asked her the magic word. “No way! It's your fault you pushed me in, anyway. Hand it over.” Lilliana crossed her arms.

Colin smiled when Lilliana said he was a pretty good snogger too! Like her, he turned a little red! Colin enjoyed snogging games --- a lot. And he liked to hear that he was good at it, especially from a really cute girl like Lilliana! There was no doubt his house was full of cute girls. But of course, none of them anything like Clair! His heart began to pound at the very thought of the blue eyed Ravenclaw and his eyes lost their focus.

He sank down into reverie, remembering all the times he'd spent with Clair, from fighting the hag doll last fall to their breakfast date by the lake, right up to seeing her in the corridors after classes this week! He remembered especially the day they spent in the caretakers cabin with AngelFyre. Other girls were cute, even beautiful, but none was like Clair in Colin's heart! As he stood there in the water, he heard a voice.

Lilliana.

They had been talking about Alora. He laughed a little. "Aye! Princess of Pranks! We stuffed some Hufflepuff kid into the cupboard down in potions! Hm. I wonder if she ever got out? Oh! And also, we stuck googly eyes all over the Gryffindor house portrait --- you know, the Fat Lady! She's brilliant when it comes to pranks! Can't wait to plan our next one! Maybe we'll go after Ravanclaw! After all, some Gryffs pranked them, and we can't let the 'Dorks beat us!" He smiled as he remembered it was her who tossed the dung bomb during spin the bottle!

Colin only laughed when she asked him how come he didn't mind the cold of the lake and what kinds of cool things he'd found in its waters. "Honestly," he said as he dangled her glassed above her reach, "I just never noticed the cold! As to what I've found --- well, mostly just ordinary stuff that people lose. Shoes. Necklaces. Quills. Potion bottles. Books. Oh! I actually found some lad's boxers in there one time! I reckon he had to run back to the dorms really fast! I've found some cool stuff too. I found an old knife once. It was kind of rusty, so it had probably been in there a while. I cleaned it up, though! And a couple hag stones. And an ankle ring! I think it's really a Troll bracelet."

Lilliana resisted Colin's attempts to tease her and cajole her into saying something simple like 'please'. Colin laughed again. "And now? I've found this very amusing pair of sun glasses!" He slipped his kilt back around his waist, slid the girl's sunglasses into the pocket of his kilt and grabbed up his shirt. He took off at a run back towards the castle! "See you in the common room! Learn the magic word lassie and I'll give em back to you!" he called over his shoulder along with a merry laugh as he waved shirt over his head like a flag!

───── Lilliana combed her fingers through her pale blond hair. She stopped when she felt something slimy. Her eyes widened slightly, and the first year picked the substance out of her hair delicately with two fingers, holding the greenish thing in front of her briefly before shuddering and tossing it back into the loch. “A cupboard?” Lilliana remarked, a light giggle escaping her lips. That’s… creative, The Slytherin thought to herself. He then mentioned targeting Ravenclaw next, "A couple of them deserve it..." Lilliana muttered under her breath, bringing her back to her not-so-pleasant encounter with a Ravenclaw, Carrie, or Cassie something, just a few days back.

Lilliana's eyebrows flew up when Colin proclaimed he didn't notice the cold. How is that even possible? She asked herself, her eyes trained on her sunglasses still. As much as the blond-haired girl tried to ignore it, it seemed as if wherever she went, the cold air loomed above her, but everyone else felt immune to it.

The older boy then began listing out items that he had discovered, to which Lilliana attempted to keep her facial expressions as unreadable as possible -- After all, he still was in possession of her sunglasses. "A knife?" Lilliana blurted, giving up on her attempt to act casual. Lilliana furrowed her brows, "Well, what did you do with it?" Lilliana pressed. It would be odd if he had kept it, especially after what had happened in the dorms a couple of months earlier.

Unfortunately, it seemed like Colin had no intention of returning her sunglasses. The look on his face suggested he was about to do something. What is he planning? Lilliana tried to make eye contact with him to see what was going on in his head, her gaze soon shifting to her sunglasses, which he held high up in the air. Should I try and grab it? Likely the outcome won't be in her favor. The Slytherin settled on reason. Speaking in a cautious tone,"I need my sunglasses back, because--

Wait. What are you doing?"

Lilliana's brain took longer to register what was happening than she would have liked. He's slipping something into his kilt pocket. The sunglasses. Now he's beginning to run. "No!" Lilliana's eyes largened, glancing behind her shoulder briefly. Briskly getting up, necklace clutched in her hand, the Slytherin began to chase after Colin, who was now flailing his shirt over his head wildly.

"See you in the common room! Learn the magic word lassie and I'll give em back to you!" He called out. Lilliana was getting her sunglasses back, that was for sure. But there was no way she was going to say please.
