Alone...Or Not.
Landon had decided to go to the lake for a bit. Apparently a few people had seen the giant squid, and the curious boy wanted to lay eyes on it as well. Besides, it would be nice to get some fresh air, he had been cooped up in the castle with loads of late assignments, and someone somewhere once said that nature was good for you.
Landon didn't know if it was true, but he didn't really care.
He approached the lake, slowing down when going down the steep hill. Noticing a girl with dark blue hair, an interesting but nice look, he decided that he wouldn't start a conversation for once. He walked over to a nearby tree, just a few feet away, and leaned against its trunk, playing with the drawstrings of his hoodie.
He watched the girl with interest. She seemed to enjoy the quiet and solitude, appreciating the crystal clear water in front of her and possibly even the sounds of birds chirping. She looked like a spunky and cool person, though maybe the boy was just getting that impression from the unique hair. Though, he had to admit, blue hair was pretty stylish and bold.

Alone...Or Not.
Landon smiled at the random and entertaining introduction.
"Ay, Stella. I'm Landon. And, I'm pretty sure everyone's already classified me as a devil, so I don't really think anything will change if I talk to you," he said with a perky smile.
"I, uh, I like your hair," Landon blurted, realizing after he said it how awkward and embarrassing he had just made the situation.
"So, ehm, what brings you out here?"
Upon asking that question, he realized that he didn't have an answer to it himself. It was a wonder, though. The setting of nature reminded him of his brother, especially the times when they would duel out in their huge green yard with the mountains in the background and the quiet sound of water rushing filling their ears.
Landon would do anything to go back to that one moment, and live it for an eternity, but he knew it was no good to dwell on the past. Yet he couldn't forget, no matter what any therapist or person said. He couldn't simply believe nothing ever happened and pretend his life was all fine, when he was falling apart inside.
And yet, he acted careless and happy every day.

Alone...Or Not.
"Yeah, the devil and the psycho. Sounds like a cartoon of some sort," Landon laughed.
Upon hearing the surprising story that Stella's hair was, in fact, natural, the boy was impressed.
"Hey, that's cool. Must be a very rare thing, having colored hair right at the moment you took your first breath. Not complaining though, it's a very nice shade of blue, I like it," he smiled, looking at the strands of blueish hair once again.
"The only thing that was special about me when I was born was that I would frown at everyone. I was a bit of a grump until my little brother came along. Then he took over the job of being cranky and I just got to be the troublemaker, still am today. Though he isn't a grump anymore," Landon shared the story thoughtfully. Yeah, that's right, he isn't a grump anymore. He isn't anything but dead. Great job, Riley, better hope she doesn't inquire on that bit any more, he thought immediately after saying the last part.
"So, are you a Hufflepuff? I say that because I feel like I saw you a few times in the common room, but my next guess would be Gryffindor."

Alone...Or Not.
"Yeah, definitely, we'll have some fun," Landon said, the fake happiness in his voice hopefully convincing enough. Behind it, though, he felt weak. Pushing the thoughts that were nagging at his brain away, the boy smiled.
"I feel the same way. Maybe the hat was having an off day, I bet I would be in Slytherin too, or at least not Hufflepuff. I don't have the best track record for being kind," he sympathized, thinking about his placement.
"But yeah, I'm a Huffle. Go gold and black?" Landon said unsurely.
He looked back at the Great Lake. It brought back memories of swimming with his brother and sister when they were younger, at the stream near their house. Scotland was beautiful, and he remembered how disappointed he was when they moved to Westminster, the city not even comparable to the scenic country they had left.
The temptation to just jump in the crystal-clear water was huge, and it took a lot of effort to resist it for Landon, who didn't even care about breaking rules. He just didn't want to be attacked by a creature, as he was a little sensible when it came to life and death situations. Though only a little.
