It was that time of week again where Finley and Farron found themselves stargazing through the top of the Astronomy Tower. Farron had learned to schedule homework and professorial duties on nights other than the ones the two staff shared together. She wanted to dedicate the time the two had together to just talk or sit in silence and attempt to count the stars. They had grown increasingly closer, exponentially really, with no sign of stopping. Ever since summer Farron felt drawn to the caretaker. She was lively, down to earth, and thoughtful. They spent their meals together at this point, practically being inseparable when they had the option of allowing themselves to be glued at the hips.

Tonight Farron was sitting with her legs crossed with Finley's head resting in her lap. Thank goodness for the cushions and blankets that were piled around the classroom as she was able to avoid a neck pain for her later with a nice little pillow. Every now and again the night breeze would flow through the classroom and push hair back into Finley's face, and Farron dutifully would respond and brush it back. Farron broke the silence with the soft lilt of her mixed Australian-English accent, "Hey, did you plan on going to the ball this spring?" Farron had a spring daisy of nervousness bloom within her at the second part of her question. Which was weird, she had never been nervous to speak to Finley before, or ask her a question. "Perhaps, you would like to join me if you were?" A brush of pink dashed across Farron's cheeks, but as quickly as it appeared it disappeared with only the stars as the witness. "Only if you'd like to, of course." The possibility of rejection, softened with a light smile and gaze on Finley. She really was one of the prettiest staff members.

Becoming friends with someone again was terrifying. It wasn't that long ago when Finley's closest friend had betrayed her, abandoned her and ran with their businesses' money. After that happened Fin truly didn't know if she'd be able to let someone into her life again in that way.

And then came Farron.

Sweet Farron, who listened to Finley and always seemed to brighten her spirits. Farron who had somehow turned Finley into an astronomy enthusiast with their stargazing sessions, Farron who was such a wonderful friend to Finley. To have a friendship where you truly felt yourself with the other was a marvelous experience, and something Fin was sure to not take for granted again.

It had been silent for a while, after a bout of catching up from the week and observing the night sky. Silent, of course, until Farron asked a peculiar question. Finley looked up into her eyes. "Oh right, that's quite soon, isn't it?" A gentle breeze blew through the room, the crisp smell of night air tickling the caretaker's nose. She smiled, "You'd like to go with me?" It felt as if they were children again, asking to have a sleepover or something of the sort. A beautifully juvenile excitement. "Well, I'm certainly not going with anyone else at the moment. I'd love to accompany you, Farron."
