This was the bit that Qrow was looking the most forward to during the Christmas break. They had been begging their parents for a pet of their own for YEARS, and whilst the Slytherin loved whenever their Dad Hephaestus brought home some random creature from his work, they could never keep them. Of course their family already had two permanent animal residents, Lucifur the cat and William Snakespeare the snake, though they were both family pets and all Qrow wanted was a pet of their own - one that they could take to Hogwarts as god’s forbid their mother would never allow them to take either of the family pets to school with them. After years of begging, and pleading for a pet of their own, their parents finally decide to get them a companion, though it was likely due to their worry that Qrow was lonely at Hogwarts that finally made them say yes.

Entering the magical menagerie, the first year looked around until they caught sight of the two shopkeepers.
Ernest Witticker, a man of about six feet tall with broad shoulders, a whiskery face and a bit of a pot belly. He was dressed in a checkered flannel shirt, a pair of blue jeans, a pair of wire framed glasses and a brimmed hat. His wife, Anita Witticker was about a foot shorter, standing at five feet tall - In fact Qrow was a couple of inches taller than her - and dressed in a floral dress. She had short white hair that was curled and styled neatly and the Slytherin couldn’t help but notice how she seemed to smell like the lingering scent of sugar cookies.

Hephaestus stopped to talk to the pair of them, exchanging words that Qrow ignored in favor of wandering through the store.
There was a wide plethora of creatures to choose from, everything from bunnies to spiders, the latter of which the child regarded with a morbid sort of fascination. They couldn’t hate any creature, however something about spiders both unsettled and intrigued them, alas, their mother would never allow them to bring one home, so after peering into the vivarium, their face basically pressed against the glass in order to get a better look, they slowly began making their way to the back of the shop.
Past all the owls and cats and toads that seemed to take up the forefront of the building.

That’s where Qrow saw him.

At the back of the room was a large caged off run full of snoozing ferrets, however what drew Qrows attention the most was the one that stood closest to the cage gate. It was slightly larger than the others and rather fat despite the fact that it seemed to be rather energetic. Thick dark fur covered its body and the added lighter shades covering its face gave the likeness of the creature wearing a mask.
Qrow was unsure of whether or not they were supposed to ask somebody to come get the creature for them, but from the sound of things, the shopkeepers were still occupied by their dad. He was probably stocking up on supplies for another work trip.
Bending down into the enclosure, the Slytherin picked up the large ferret, cradling it close to their chest like an infant before setting back to the front of the shop.

“Dad!” They said, holding up the rodent to show him.
“I’m gonna call him Pandemonium!”
