Kim looked back at her, after she admitting her interest in dueling, with a faint smirk, telling her that he shared her opinion on the matter and that she should try to participate in it one of these days, offering to help her getting to know the ways of that magical competition. "I honestly would love too! You're in Gryffindor's team right? Are you going to have a match?" Ying replied sweetly and with fair interest about the boy's knowledge on duels and its strategies. Of course, she had also her brother to help her through it but...lets be real, he was her opponent in that matter, he was the other team captain! And for that reason and because she couldn't rule out the fact that he probably wouldn't support or encourage her willingness to be the target of dangerous spells, she would rather become a better duelist before informing him of her intentions. Maybe he would not be glad about she keeping it to herself...but was not like she would never reveal that to him, she just wanted to be prepared enough to show him that she was perfectly capable of defending herself!
At the very least she wanted to be able to perform with more luck than he was blessed with against those two Ravenclaws! This was such a merciless display of Knockback jinxes against the snakes that Ying felt her chest tighten and her heart ache with worry. Seeing her brother lose was not easy to acknowledge, specially because she knew him enough to recognize his thoughts and the way he was possibly feeling at that time, and so she desperately wanted to contradict them and be able to making him feel better with the whole situation. But the feeling of helplessness was hard to bear and that was how she was feeling at that moment when she saw Ming receiving medical attention and looking like he was about to lose consciousness.
"It seems Ravenclaw was the best today! As I thought." Beatrice's cheerful voice reached her ears with a laugh. The young Gryffindor felt like she'd swallowed poison as the other girl's words stuck in her heart like a heavy stone, igniting a fire of lingering wounded pride. Ying made a colossal effort to remain expressionless avoiding her gaze towards the talking pair at her side. She didn't wanted to show them how much she had been affected by the constant praise the girl showered on her team, she was dangerously touching to lack politeness and Ying was controlling herself by a thread to not start an unwanted and unpleasant exchange of words.
"I hope Hui-Ming is alright. Better luck to him next time. He'll need the support." Beatrice finally directed herself to her and so she no longer could keep avoiding to look at the older girl. Although, she didn't wanted to start a scandal in there, she also wasn't able to reply completely hiding her disapproving tone, "Thank you." She said in a hard tone. Realizing her lack of subtlety, Ying softened her expression into a slight smile and a soft nod in an acknowledging and parting courtesy.
Not long after, she felt Leveret rise from the seat beside her, thus mentioning that he too would be leaving. “Pass my best onto your brother. - Fang Hui-Ying.” He told her. The way he had looked at her didn't passed unnoticed by the young girl, however she wasn't sure she had deciphered it correctly. The ensuing smile that graced his features only served to further confuse her about the boy's true thoughts or intentions. A slight pressure in her stomach made her realize that her instincts had been caught by the boy's attitude, warning her about something she couldn't identify at that moment, and it certainly wasn't the right time or place to try to unravel it. "Good luck to your duel, Mr. Leveret!" She answered politely before turning her attention again towards her brother. She felt no longer able to remain sit in there without heading towards Ming making sure he was alright, so she slowly raised from her seat, "I'll go to my brother" She justified herself to Kim, "I hope we can talk later!" She said with kindness and a soft smile before walking towards Ming at the dueling stage.

There were mixed results for all of them. The worst was probably Taizu's as it had been his very first one. Having your first official duel end with both you and your partner being knocked unconscious... it wasn't quite the impression a new duelist wanted to leave upon the piste and the dueling moderators. Kim would meet up with all of the aforementioned duelists after their matches to make sure they were doing alright and to make them perk up with some sweet snack too. As the matches were now over, there was no point for anyone to remain now. Avery caught his eye before he left, giving him a nod and he returned it with his own. Letting his attention return to Ying, Kim nodded when she asked if he was going to have a match. "Mm. Mine is tomorrow." He told her and nodded when Ying said she needed to go check up on her brother. "I have to check up on some people too." Kim said and raised a hand into the air, giving his trademark farewell greeting to her in Mandarin. "Zàijiàn!" With that, he reached up to pet Puffie, who was still sulking a bit, and headed off to track down the participants he'd come to see of the matches that had just concluded. Later, he'd practice his spells in preparation for his match tomorrow. |
