-----The hectic weekend came to a close with a stunning and peaceful evening. Caoimhe made a second appearance in the library, but this time it was for a gathering rather than so that she could carry on with her own research and reading. She appreciated the fact that the bulk of students were still feasting because it allowed her to have privacy and serenity in the library. In the beginning, house elves would fill the empty space by repositioning books and other written materials on their rightful shelves. Regular trips allowed her to get familiar with the areas, though she still often asked one of them where to find specific genres at times.
She would make a beeline for the sections in search of works that could be beneficial to her companion, dropping her green and black bag on a table as a manner of claiming it. While it seemed unlikely that the space would become crowded at this time in the evening, it was comfort to Caoimhe's mind that she'd have a spot to call her own.
Finally, a title would come to her mind at that moment. She removed the book from its resting place with care and began to page through it. She murmured under her breathe, "Magical Drafts and Potions..Arsenius Jigger.." before looking up and seeing another title that attracted her attention: "Moste Potente Potions." Caoimhe managed to get her hands on it as well before dragging herself back to her seat with a groan, feeling a little worn out from the weight of the volumes. She would get out her white quill and begin writing down notes from Phineas Bourne's work while she waited for a specific Gryffindor to meet her after the feast.

WHO IS THE P R E D A T O R & WHO IS THE P R E Y ?
GORGE AND GORGE, CONSUME & CONSUME ; the little lion cub feasted with the rest of his pride unapologetically and filled to the brim with the glee of this festive event. He knew he had a finessed himself a hang out with a certain viperess of the verdant and silver persuasion but Harlan wasn't afraid of a little danger. Could he truly consider herself a Gryffindor if the thrill wasn't a part of the hunt? Granted, Harlan wasn't an anyone when it came to the status of first year Gryffindors and had spent the better part of the year simply existing, but not thriving.
Sure, he made a few friends but something hadn't been connecting with his time here, but it hadn't been enough. And so he made himself this promise, to transform to be the him that he always wanted to be — shiny, golden, and brilliant. How he would pull this off? Unapologetic and foolish bravery. Caoimhe Kyle had it all and he would learn from her how to be and exist almost as Hogwarts royalty. Sure, he had the cheek, but perhaps this would be how he would learn the nerve, the gall, the audacity, and the gumption.
Headed back up to the Common Room, Harlan took a moment to change and shower, trying to smell good for her, putting on a bit too much cologne in the process.
A little late, Harlan entered the library a little sweaty and a smidgen late as he slowed his pace but could still feel his heartbeat loudly within his ears. As he turned the corner, there she sat in athletic yet comfortable clothes.
" Waiting long? " He asked with a smile, sitting down directly opposite of her as Harlan placed his bag on the table and took out his potions homework. His eyes gazed over to the book she had on the table and his brows furrowed, was he meant to have this large tome too? " That's not homework too, is it? Merlin's Beard, I can't believe I missed hearing that from the Professor too..."

-----There were signs that time had passed, but Caoimhe was unable to calculate how much had elapsed precisely. Her curiosity piqued by the pages of Moste Potente Potions, she consumed the information voraciously, scribbling notes with her ivory quill. It wasn't until a certain odor pricked her nose causing the snake to scrunch up her face and searched about until her eyes settled on a person she recognized. She'd smile warmly at the Gryffindor before sliding her stuff out of the way, making room for his. Hearing his words, she would shrug her shoulders nonchalantly while her eyes landed back onto the volume before smiling back to him sheepishly: "No, that's for me, I'm afraid."
She observed as he took a seat across from her, his musk-scented fragrance saturating her airways. Caoimhe refrained from commenting on the matter because she respected the fact that, in contrast to the other guys she knew, he made an effort to look after himself. He had a pleasant fragrance, but it was excessive. Caoimhe tried to hide the fact she thought she'd sneeze at any moment.
Despite the fact that they shared her time and space, she would not let her guard down around him since she was still wary of him. She kept the ideas to herself since she was intrigued about where this would lead her, regardless of whether it was due to Caoimhe's paranoia, her typical deceptive company, or simply just her innate instinct.
As she put the end of her quill into her pot of ink, she would inquire with a charming smile on her face, "Do you still have my notes?"
Her memory of the lecture was hazy at this point, and she needed to do the assignment that was due the following day. It would be easier for her to push through the assignment if she had her notes to serve as a memory aid, which would help speed her up so she could visit Anna and Freya later that evening.

WHO IS THE P R E D A T O R & WHO IS THE P R E Y ?
HER GUARD WAS UP. EXPECTED OF A PREDATOR CIRCLING but she hadn’t been sure how much teeth the little cub had versus her ability to swallow him up whole. Harlan twisted an ink-dipped quill in his left hand as he casually read the same paragraph from their potions book over and over again trying to make sense of the words but it stayed in a thick fog until Caoimhe called out asking for her notes back.
“ Oh yeah, my bad. ” A casual gaze outlining the Slytherin’s sharp features as he noticed a forced smile on her lips and he returned her gesture with an authentic grin. “ You know, i’m not as scary as you may think. ” The comment was meant to disarm, a conversational expelliarmus while his hands rummaged through his backpack looking for her notes, returning them back to her with a knowing look that she’d either blow her lid at him for even insinuating that she was being fake or enjoy the fact that he could (maybe?) disarm her protective wards, even if only for a moment.
Harlan returned to the potions book for a second and read the same paragraph again, looking down at his own notes, and then the question as he tried to form a connection between what he needed to answer and what he knew. It all felt for naught, but perhaps with a little more focus he’d start understanding Potions like he did with topics like Charms or Defense Against the Dark Arts.
He stood up for a second and leaned over to see what exactly Caoimhe was working on, hands on the desk as he peered to read her answers. " What are you even working on? Is that Potions homework? " Harlan squinted, head cocked as he attempted to read her handwriting word for word thinking maybe it'd help his understanding and also rile up the coiled-up snake.

-----In spite of the fact that her defenses were raised, the young vipress believed that she had adept cause of doing so. She was not one to like squandering her time on fools, when that time could be spent on something fun or useful. Caoimhe certainly wouldn't label him as a fool so early on if she didn't have a good reason; he was merely a young lad who wanted to be successful and needed assistance to achieve his objectives. Caoimhe could accept the fact that he wanted to improve his performance. But was Harlan willing to put in the work, or did he simply want to grab the glory that Caoimhe had worked so hard to gain and claim it as his own?
After obtaining her notes from him, she'd skim the parchment before putting it back into her folder marked 'Potions.' Caoimhe laughed at his comment and rolled her eyes, but she had to admit that she had some level of respect for a guy who could break the ice as well as Harlan did. Would she ever admit that to him? Hell no. "And who said I was afraid of you?" Caoimhe would retort playfully while looking up at him with a smirk, but there was a certain venom in her tone. Was it ignorance or bravery on the part of the young cub to provoke the snake? Caoimhe couldn't help but wonder what Harlan was capable of, and whether or not he was actually as bold as he purported to be.
The young man would divert his attention back to the volume before him, while Caoimhe would put her studies on hold in order to concentrate reading him instead, debating if he was worth the time. Before shifting his attention to her, it appeared that he had been reading the same section over and over without success of understanding. Caoimhe laughed and then flipped 'Moste Potente Potions' over for him so that he could read it more easily.
"Babbling Beverage. It's a recipe I want to try in class, maybe get some extra House points," Caoimhe explained while pointing to the part she was reading at the time. The potion was called Babbling Beverage, a potion to cause the drinker to be unable to speak coherently for 10 minutes more or less. She was hoping to prank some housemates with it, or offer it to one of the boys for some easy amusement.
"So what are you not understanding exactly? Is it the measurements, the basics?"
