Eventuality
Time: 7th of April, Before Curfew
There undeniably is this chance in everything someone does, to make a new acquaintance or find a person to hold a conversation with. The sixth year was walking the halls at the brink of curfew to ensure sending students on their way back to the common room, should he encounter any. He had found that places like the lavatory, library and duelling club were those most commonly still occupied as for some reason the lavatory had become a meet up spot for quite a bit of students. As for the library and the duelling club, the students commonly occupying those areas were quick to forget the time.
He was just turning into the corridor that would lead to his last patrolling area for the evening, before he could retire into the Common Room himself and Alan was in desperate need for some time to rest as he had a lot on his plate right now. The upcoming duelling stage and the homework that tended to pile up at the end of the year took away most of his time throughout the day, not to forget the actual classes he had to visit. It was somewhat a relief to be seventeen now, but it also came with a lot of other responsibilities he didn't dare think about yet. His parents had kept their congratulations via owl jovial and while the prefect was happy with that, he knew there would be a lot more things coming his way. He'd have to finally decide and settle on an idea for which job he'd like doing and he just knew that the decision wouldn't come as easily as he once hoped. There were certain expectations and dreams and while he knew he would be supported whichever path he chose to walk, some people would always want him to be more than that. One path was easy and secure and would allow him to thrive no matter what, the other would be more risky and his efforts might as well be wasted, if he was unlucky or failed. But it was what he wanted, so he wasn't going to just give up on a dream he had since he was a little kid, at least not without trying.
Alas there were other things to worry about, such as kids out of their common room this close to curfew. And with that thought in mind, Alan pushed open the door of the Lavatory, to check whether there were any more kids hiding away inside that he would have to accompany back to their common room.

Eventuality
Ashley's evening was one were he actually experienced something that boosted his motivation to new heights. Somehow, he was successful in signing up for his house's duelling squad, but it appears that he was put on a waiting list. Each time he saw himself someday ensuring his success over all difficulties, his fascination became stronger. But what are odds if there is no plan? In an effort to use the lavatory, he attempted to go to the fourth floor. The location was not enjoyable for relaxing, but it would be a great place to plan after supper. He first prioritised his targets based on which house would collapse earliest, duel wise.Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
Once other students had left for their dorms, he snuck away from his prefects to use the lavatory. The prefects were obviously patrolling because curfew was about to start, but he wouldn't let anyone get in his way. Those who dared are put on his list of people he will somehow eliminate. Ashley took great care to avoid being seen as he moved cautiously.
"S, G, and H. I need to make sure I succeed in this, despite the fact that I have no idea who my partner will be." Ashley uttered a short monologue.
He thought about where to start writing as he cast a peek up at the wall of the lavatory.
It appears that he had plans to vandalise the school's walls, but as this is a public space, it would be pointless.
He took out a piece of parchment and quill as he began to write about the junior league duelists he had identified as being targets, listing their strengths and flaws while contrasting them with his own. He realised that he wasn't really powerful enough to defeat his adversaries, but the first step was to put a plan into action. If not via strength, then certainly with stratagem, one can genuinely capture their adversary. It's not a simple process because it can be difficult to get read through individuals.
Change of plans, he considered perusing his armoury. He asked himself, struggling with the idea while taking into account his arsenal, "What is my signature spell. Well, let's start over from scratch because I need a strong signature spell. Currently I have non. " He groaned.
He tried to formulate a plan while folding his arms and closed his eyes, imagining his potential threats and the people he had been watching. Yet, there was one individual who always bothered his mind. A particular Slytherin Ashley met while watching the duel.
Once more, he remembered that the young boy was supporting Ming, a different duelist and they were both in the same house
He asked himself, "What is so wonderful about these two?"
Having stated that, he genuinely opened his eyes and began writing the names Avery and Ming. Knowing that he wasn't particularly close to either of them, he could observe them more and make a decision later. He was interested in learning about each person's skills.
The first thing he needed to do was hone his abilities because he might be caught off guard by these two targets.
The question is, "What will actually happen if I defeat him first?" He indicated the name Avery with his quill.

Alan heard a sort of murmur coming from within the lavatory and barely had managed to suppress a small sigh that threatened to spill from his lips. Without bothering to announce his presents beforehand, because why would he do that in the first place for the public lavatory, he pushed open the door. He did so gently as he peeked into the room. His eyes scanned through the room, hoping to find the student he had heard right away, when his gaze fell onto the mirror. Alan looked his usual self, auburn hair tousled by the day, a white button up shirt with a red pullover worn above it as well as a pair of black trousers and red sneakers. It was his most common outfit and one he had been loyal to throughout the years of going to school. His go to was always black trousers, red sneakers and a fitting shirt or hoodie. "Who's in here? It's almost curfew," he offered to whoever had hid away in the lavatory. If he were to find the person and learn their name they wouldn't be in trouble after all it was not curfew yet and the fact remained that he too had lost track of time or purposefully snuck out of the common room late or early numerous times. How could he truly fault others for doing the same when he himself had been doing the same, it would simply be hypocritical. He just wanted the students to stay safe and out of trouble, especially the younger ones that were often too confident for their own good. Alan himself didn't remember much from his first year, but he did remember getting into and out of some quite risky situations even though the details of them escaped him, almost as if he had no way to even attempt to remember them. Even when he was a little older there had been situations that had risked not just him but others too, but some of the memories he had purposefully blocked from his mind because he didn't even want to remember them or the people involved. Nowadays things seemed calmer, easier even but with all that had been going on Alan wasn't sure he could trust that silence. After all the saying went the quiet before the storm for a reason and Alan wasn't sure if he wanted to find out what said storm was. But he was getting off track, his current objective had been to find the student in the lavatory and he hadn't even began to look around!
Looking around he did and it wasn't difficult to spot the boy he had no recollection of speaking to before. "Hey my name is Alan, who are you? It's rather late, are you aware?" he offered his name and the benefit of the doubt as he gave a kind smile. He could see them working on something and couldn't help the curiosity at that, but it would be rather rude to just ask, wouldn't it be? So for now he would ignore his curiosity and attempt to bring it up in conversation later, that seemed like a good enough plan for now.

Ashley's thoughts had been vacillating on the young blokes mentioned earlier. In order to overcome his mental block, he was just conjuring up an abstract mystery riddle that the boy needed to solve on his own. Although it wasn't a mystery in the traditional sense, he viewed it as such and included it in his list of goals for the future. Due of his inability to stop thinking, A young boy who spoke in a pleasant melody tone jolted Ashley out of his reverie. "Who's in here? It's almost curfew, exclaimed the other boy.Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
When Ashley turned, he saw a senior boy and figured the boy was a prefect because typically at that hour, they were patrolling the castle looking for students who were hiding out after curfew. Ashley was fortunate because curfew had not yet started but was about to do so. "Hm." He said, "Hello," with the calmest voice he had ever heard. The senior standing before him somehow didn't seem menacing, but his aura simply caused Ashley to act in his most composed manner.
While mischief always lingered in the other boy's mind, detention was something he had been trying to avoid ever since he arrived at Hogwarts, so when the Prefect introduced himself as Alan and asked who he was and whether Ashley was aware that it was him, Ashley did not want to put himself in a risky situation where all his plans or cover would somehow be blown. Instead, he slowly concealed whatever he was having in his pocket while also maintaining eye contact with the Prefect. "Oh, Alan! the young man said with a little smirk. What a lovely name."He took a few moments to take a deep breath..
"I'm assuming you're a Prefect and that you're on patrol. Nice.My name is Ashley", he said after a brief five-second delay. "And yes, I am aware that it is already very late, but I had to come here in order to complete my tasks. One of my riddles." Ashley's speech was composed, suspicious, and enigmatic. In either case, he showed Alan his utmost respect, although it was unclear what his underlying motives for going to the lavatory actually were.
"You are actually the second prefect I have spoken to so far, after Beatrice from my house. I believe that today is my lucky day." Ashley continued to look the Gryffindor Prefect in the eyes while grinning.

"Hello Ashley," Alan replied with a smile, a kind one at that. He was very much aware of the approaching curfew and also aware that the other student was not supposed to be out of the common room anymore. Well, but curfew was something Alan didn't care about much as strictly as perhaps another one would as long as it was not in the middle of the night. He was still very much aware of the danger lurking in this castle, especially once it was veiled in darkness. He had heard many stories from encounters though he had not made any such encounters of his own yet. Though he wouldn't wish to change that any time soon. He was rather glad he had missed out on some of the things that had been happening around the castle. He had heard too many rumors and stories that were then proven to be true. It was frightening really. "I am a prefect, yeah but don't take that fact too seriously as you aren't in any trouble," he offered in the hopes to calm the other kid, in case that they, well, weren't calm.
"What kind of riddle is it that you are trying to solve? And what does it have to do with being in the Lavatory?" he gave a grin at the excuse. Also he simply just enjoyed a riddle if the opportunity was thrown at him. "I'd love to help you solve it and oh, you met another Bea? I mean that kinda makes sense since she is in your house though, doesn't it?" Alan saw plenty of students of his own house every day but he did not really interact with them each and every time.

When he saw the Gryffindor prefect grin and greet him, the Ravenclaw boy felt relaxed. Since prefects can be somewhat daunting, perhaps this was just a natural response for some people to have to feel that way. It can be daunting at times, much like when the entire Hogwarts staff is gathered in the great hall. The lad, however, pays more attention to the conversation that is typically taking place at the Ravenclaw table than he does to everything around.Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
Alan grinned at the youngster, and the boy grinned back. "I am a prefect, yeah but don't take that fact too seriously as you aren't in any trouble,"
"It can be pretty terrifying because I might be in trouble given that I sneaked past my House Prefects and found myself here. But if you say so, then I'll believe," he said, beaming. Since Alan seems to be genuinely quite nice, he might not be a bad prefect after all. He has a way of instantly calming down others just by being in a room.
In response to the Gryffindor prefect's inquiry, he remarked, "The riddle is more of a hitman type of riddle, concentrating on both Avery Leveret and Hui-Fang Ming." He took a brief pause. "But both of these folks seem to be exceedingly difficult to beat in a duel; I'm not sure how. Additionally, I require a signature spell. In some way, this is all perplexing." Ashley had a semi-troubled expression. The prefect might be able to assist him. But if he couldn't, he would still understand.
"To be completely honest, I had intended to vandalise school property in order to write my plans on the Hogwarts walls, but fortunately I did not," he joked. Although the explanation was humorous, it was also true. After continuing to express that they would love to assist in solving the riddle, the kid from Ravenclaw questioned whether Alan knew the two boys he had described.
He chuckled again, feeling a little embarrassed, "It's not actually written on paper, it's a riddle in my thoughts." In response to Bea's inquiry, he said, "Yes, it does. She is incredible, you know. She shares your relaxing presence."
