Finished Finding a Place to Be

It took Sunny a while to follow Jordan's thoughts, but then he understood. If someone didn't work at all, then how would they get food and housing? It had seemed so logical at the time, to suggest that one do nothing at all, but if all one did was, say, sleep and play video games all day, then where would those things come from? He realized that he didn't know.

Sunny frowned as he came to understand what Jordan was saying. "Yeahhhhh....," he agreed at last. He didn't like his idea being thrown out so easily, not out of pride, but because it sounded so nice to tell people that they could do nothing at all and be just fine. It had sounded like such an easy way to solve every witch or wizard's problems: that there were no problems at all.

Sunny was delighted that Jordan was hungry. Sunny rushed his hand up towards Jordan's head-area, hoping to give Jordan a big smack-er-roo (a high five), and returned his hand back down when Sunny was done. Sunny wasn't delighted that Jordan was hungry, but that he was hungry. Er, Sunny was delighted that Jordan liked food as much as Sunny did. For as much food as Sunny ate it was amazing that he still resembled a bean stalk more than a boy of 11. "To dinner!", he added, as if toasting something that would happen in the future.

"Sometimes I play footbal- er, soccer - with some of the neighborhood kids, but I just like to go outside and see stuff. There's always stuff to do. Like catching frogs, or fishing, or finding where wildlife lives. Sometimes tourists come around and they talk about all sorts of stuff, but sometimes they talk about rare birds. It's always neat to listen to a rare bird - like a special pigeon you didn't know existed, or a pheasant. Who knew where you live every day had something that other people found neat and came all that way to see."

"How about y-", he started and then stopped himself. "Oh,", he finished, realizing he had already asked that.

"Are you nervous about getting good grades? Do you have any strategies for homework? Like maybe you only do your homework on Saturday, or maybe you always play music?"

Sunny was a never-ending ball of energy it seemed, but the questions he asked were always entertaining. Jordan was very interested in the all of the animals that Sunny knew about, and the many ways he had for having fun outdoors - even without books! The topic changed just as quickly as it had begun, and now Sunny was asking about homework. Now there was a topic that Jordan could definitely wrap their mind around.

"Well, I am kind of extra when it comes to school work. I feel like there's just not enough time in our lives to learn everything, but we need to try and learn as much as we can right now. You get so much more out of class when you know the basics of what your professors are talking about. That's why I always stay at least a full chapter ahead in our textbooks."

"Having the class syllabus really helps for working ahead, but when you read the textbooks as a whole, it's also fairly easy to predict which sections will be assigned for papers and such. I guess my main strategy is to always study so that homework doesn't seem unattainable."

All of their blabbering seemed to take months, but really it was just enough time for the Great Hall to finally be open for dinner. The steps of students clamoring past the courtyard and into the main building were growing more frequent, and Jordan suddenly remembered their hunger.

"Are you ready to head in for dinner?" they asked Sunny, assuming they already knew the answer.
