History/Background Story:
How Lisa Morris and David Brewer met isn't nearly as important as that they did. Lisa was a muggle-born witch who couldn't give up all the trappings of the muggle life she knew before she went to Hogwarts. David hated the beverage industry, and the brewery that his family owned, and had just started out at the hospital mortuary as a junior mortician. They fell in love, got married, found their dream homes and jobs. For a long time it seemed that maybe their family was to be just the two of them. And their tabby cat Tosca. Just as they were about to give up, their bundle of joy came along in the form of Nella.

Both parents doted on her, and she grew up to be a well loved child. They both knew that they would love Nella forever whether she was magical or not. David was enchanted with his wife's magical world and secretly hoped that Nella would be magical so he would have a chance to see more of this amazing world, but was also prepared to help her find her way in a muggle world while knowing a magical one existed. Lisa and David were swiftly put out of their misery as Nella's magic showed itself early on while she was still a toddler. Of course both were overjoyed to have a magical child, and there was no doubt they would make sure she went to Hogwarts for school. However, they also wanted to be sure she embraced both sides of her heritage- muggle and magical.

For her early schooling Nella went to a regular Muggle school and loved it. Whilst she enjoyed the bits of the magical world that she had access to through her mum (and the problem solving for accidental magic too) she still really enjoyed the subjects she got to learn - and drawing some of the parallels between the two worlds - eg how muggles replicated magic with technology, the similarity between chemistry and potion making etc.

She grew up learning about the muggle world, embracing what technology she could (the house wasn't always very conducive to things like computers). Her grades were excellent, and she even had a small group of good muggle friends. The biggest challenge in her short life was dodging sleepovers at her own house and covering up accidental magic. The latter of which she thought was unfair because her friends would love it and absolutely keep the secret - which as a child she believed thoroughly no matter how true or not it was in actuality.

With her mum being a potion mistress for St. Mungos and her father running the local funeral home (now his own business) her parents were often busy but that didn't mean distant. She was known fondly by their colleagues and got to see a lot of things kids her age hadn't- like simmering cauldrons and the deceased. She learned a lot about Hogwarts over the years from her mum, and her mum's magical friends and whilst she knows she's going to miss a lot of muggle stuff and her muggle friends, it feels a little bit to her like her whole life has been leading up to this point.

Her farewell party is behind her, the cover story being something hasty about a strict private school hence why she won't be able to text or email while she's away. Now she's excited to be off on her new adventure... and to follow in her mother's Ravenclaw footsteps of course!

Quick History: parent's own a brewery that's been in the family for generations, but David was never interested in the industry, and had no creative ideas to contribute. All was well in hand with his brothers. Instead, he found his calling due to his compassion, and wishing him well his family helped start up his funeral business that he now works in and runs.

First Instance of Magic:
Nella's first instance of magic occurred when she was only a toddler. She would always have a story read to her before bed, and she loved this time. It was always her father David who would read to her, and he would always make the time no matter how busy his work was. As she got older she was frustrated that sometimes the books had pictures that moved and some didn't - and she really loved the stories in the ones with still pictures. So it was that one evening, during a reading of Where the Wild Things Are her dad nearly had a heart attack when the pictures came to life, not just on the page but like a ghostly pop-up book and started acting out the story.
