Study Room Mayhem
Normally, Nora didn't do work in the study room. Normally, Nora didn't even enter the study room. In fact, she hadn't been in here since her initial tour. But today is anything but normal.
This morning, Nora woke up at the crack of dawn (highly unusual for her, but nevertheless) to discover that one of her roommates had spilled a whole glass of butter beer all over Nora's desk. Her roommate had apologised profusely, of course, but Nora had been forced to study somewhere else for the day while she waited for the house elves to get it cleaned up.
Despite its name, there wasn't a whole of actual studying going on in the study room. Two third years had retreated to the back of the room (hidden behind some bookshelves) and have been "talking" there ever since. Another group of students, all Gryffindors except for a single Hufflepuff, were huddled over a table near the entrance, divvying up one of them had bought. Every few minutes, one of the students would exclaim something like "Hey, that's mine!" or "Why do you have more chocolate frogs!?" in which case the only other person in the room, a sleeping Ravenclaw, would jerk up, before falling back asleep.
To make it worse, someone had thought is would be funny to make the clock strike each second like nails tapping on a desk. Usually, a teacher would have fixed it by now, but most of them were currently trying to resolve another prank a different student put together, this time involving the owlery. So the clock ticked on, annoying her endlessly.
After about half an hour of this, Nora was on the brink of despair, and none of her homework was done. She'd switched out her contacts five times, settled on green, then switched out for orange one last time. Her hair, once neat, was a jumbled purple mess of knots. Looking down at her still empty page, Nora decided she'd have to do something about the noise. But what...

It was Irene's first week at Hogwarts, and she could finally get some studying. She'd been excited when she heard about the study room, for her own dorm was often very nosy. Sure, it may have perfect for group projects, and she did like the company for homework, but studying was almost a religious practice for Irene. Back in Newport, she had a schedule that she would follow to the point. Each week on Saturday, she would bike to her local library and choose a spot near the back. Then, she would crack open her textbooks and get to work for exactly five hours, before packing up, and heading off to swimming practice.
Now that she was at Hogwarts, however, Irene would have to re-work that schedule of hers. Obviously, she didn't still have swimming practice (though she wondered if she could go diving in the lake...), and there was different things she could and needed to do. And now, she had the perfect opportunity to work it out. Except, well, the study room wasn't exactly the haven that Irene had imagined.
Complete with noisy students (presumably Gryffindors), snogging teens, and a loud, ticking clock, it was something straight out of her nightmares. With a sigh, she chose a spot near the back, close to the only person in here who was actually studying. A Slytherin, it seemed, with purple hair and... orange eyes? No, they were just contacts. Glancing over to her, she noticed that she also seemed frustrated by the surrounding noise, perhaps even at her wits end.
Irene felt bad for her, but she had work to focus on. Pulling a textbook from her bag, she noticed that she forgot her quill. A quick look towards the Slytherin confirmed that she had a spare one, but... Should she ask? Oh, well. Might as well go for it. Reaching over, she tapped the girl on the shoulder.
"Sorry to bother you," Irene said, smiling nervously, "But can I borrow your extra quill? I forgot mine."

Study Room Mayhem
Delilah was a common frequenter of the Study Room, ever since she was in first year. Today was like no other, ready for the new academic year Del had her parchment and quill in hand and was ready to work on her study schedule and prepare it all, since she did the OWL's at the end of last year, she was happy to know that the stress of them was over. Although, the study room wasn't as peaceful as it typically was, mainly due to the loud group of mostly Gryffindors at one table but there were a couple of other factors.
At one table though, there were two first year girls, one standing, one sitting. Del decided she would go over to them, maybe they needed a hand with something? It wasn't often Delilah talked to firsties outside of helping them with their homework, although she refused to give answers, she found the best way to help for their learning was to show them the right way to work it out themselves.
Delilah didn't want to be rude and impose herself on the two, although they likely wouldn't be able to clock how much older she was considering her quite short stature, she wasn't sure if they had seen her duelling or something else that might worry them about her. A lot of people seemed to think she was less friendly than she actually was.
"Hiya girls, is it okay if I sit here? It seems a bit quieter over here." She gestured vaguely to the chair across the table from the sitting girl who seemed to have her homework out. It was only then that delilah clocked exactly what it was that was bugging her, the clock was making this awful noise. Since she didn't know what spell caused the awful din, she couldn't counter it exactly, but with a flick of her wand, Quietus was cast, she didn't even need to say anything audibly, a skill she had recently learned. "That's better, that was annoying as shit." Although after she said that she pulled a face, realising she just swore in front of what were essentially kids to Delilah, considering how she was turning 17 in December 2022.

The minutes slowly ticked by, each second counted by a drum of Nora's fingertips. And just when she thought the pain would never end-- someone else entered the room. Not a bolstering Gryffindor, or a couple of love birds, but a quiet Hufflepuff who looked like she actually wanted to use the room for it's intended purpose: studying. Nora breathed a sigh of relief, and watched as the girl headed over to a spot near her. She watched as the girl went through her bag, and kept watching when she saw that girl had clearly forgotten something. However, Nora quickly looked away when she saw the girl turn, and only looked back when she felt a small tap on her shoulder.
"Sorry to bother you," the Hufflepuff asked, the smile on her face nearly twitching, "But can I borrow your extra quill? I forgot mine."
Nora's gaze darted to the quill in her hand, confused for a second. Did the girl mean the quill Nora was using, or...? Her brow furrowed, but after a second, her eyes widened with realization. Grabbing the quill beside her bag, she passed it over to the brunette.
"Here you go," she said, "Are you--" Her mouth snapped shut as another girl entered a room, this time much older. Maybe even a sixth year, but she wasn't quite sure. The older student was a Ravenclaw, and soon came over to where Nora was.
"Hiya girls, is it okay if I sit here? It seems a bit quieter over here." She said, gesturing to the chair across from Nora, who nodded once in response. After a second, the girl flicked her wand, and the irritating sound from the clock vanished. Nora's eyes widened. The older girl had just done a spell, but silently. This was particularly impressive to Nora, since she barely knew how to do anything verbally. The Ravenclaw then said, "That's better, that was annoying as shit."
As she said this, however, she pulled a face, probably realizing she just swore in front of two eleven-year-olds. Nora didn't mind, but she wasn't so sure about the Hufflepuff. Smiling as to not seem startled, pulled out a seat for the girl her age. She wished she could do the same for the older girl, but she was on the other side of the table, and Nora figured that would be rather awkward.
"Thanks for cutting the awful noise," she said gratefully as she adjusted her sweater, "My name's Nora. And this is...?"

Irene clutched the quill in her hands, smiling gratefully at the Slytherin. Now she could finally get to work, like she'd been planning to. She noticed the girl beside her, despite having her homework out, hadn't written anything down on her page. She figured that the girl hadn't been able to concentrate, what with all the noise. If only it weren't for that clock...
"Are you--" The purple-haired witch said, but she quickly stopped, staring at something across from them. Irene followed her gaze, realising that a new student had entered the room. However, the Ravenclaw was much older than the both of them, probably a sixth year. After a second of assessing the room, she came over to the both of them.
Irene smiled nervously as the girl asked to join them, but then nearly sighed in relief when she preformed a spell to stop the noise. Almost enviously, she wondered what spell she'd used. Quietus? If only Irene could cast spells silently, or at all. But that's why I'm at Hogwarts, she thought, to learn how to.
Lost in her own thoughts, she was only snapped to focus when she heard the older girl swear. This made her wince, but she didn't say anything. Obviously, Irene was younger, so she wasn't around much bad language. Not that she minded it much, she just wasn't used to it. The Slytherin, clearly unaffected, pulled out a chair for Irene. She took it gratefully, and probably missed something that the girl said while she did. After a second, she re-focused on the conversation.
"I'm Nora," said the Slytherin. "And this is...?"
"I'm Irene," she finished, jumping in. Irene turned to the older girl. "And you are?"
